More photos from Pete Travis‘ upcoming Dredd reboot have been outed by Lionsgate.
It stars Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby and Lena Headey, Jason Cope, Langley Kirkwood, Kevon Kane, Joe Vaz, Warrick Grier, Scott Sparrow, and Luke Tyler.
In the world of ‘Dredd,’ a new drug called slo-mo is taking over the streets. As the name implies, the drug causes its users to experience the world around them at a fraction of the normal speed, which means that when Urban’s Judge Dredd starts violently cleaning up the streets, there’s actually a reason for everything to sloooow down other than just to look cool (although, let’s face it, that’s the ulterior motive). All of this promises the most slow motion filled film since ’300,’ which was also sold heavily on its style rather than a star-studded cast.
Dredd opens on September 21st, 2012.
Will you go and see Dredd at the cinema?...

A swanky new comic book cover style poster for Pete Travis’ upcoming “Dredd” reboot (above) and a new featurette about star Karl Urban’s take on the grim futuristic lawman (below) for your viewing pleasure this post-Labor Day weekend. Please to enjoy. The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One–a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge–a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed. In case you’re not too busy having hot dogs or eating fattening burgers with the family today, check out a new clip from the sci-fi action flick “Dredd”. Would I have liked to see more from Pete Travis’ “Dredd” other than a walk-and-talk clip, sure, I guess, but as the saying goes, beggars can’t be choosers. And since no one’s offering us exclusive clips, we’ll just have to make due with little quickies like this one from across the pond. Enjoy, enjoyers. In a violent, futuristic city where the police have the authority to act as judge, jury and executioner, a cop teams with a trainee to take down a gang that deals the reality-altering drug, Slo-mo. “Dredd” stars Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby, who are highlighted in the clip below, along with Lena Headey, Jason Cope, Langley Kirkwood, Kevon Kane, Joe Vaz, Warrick Grier, Scott Sparrow,...

Oh my, I’m dying to see this thing. Nothing makes me more excited than crazy, fascist law-enforcement in a futuristic setting. Plus, Lena Headey all scarred up and shit. That’s hot. Although I’m not sure anyone asked for it, another update to the source material, which spawned the 1995 Sylvester Stallone actioner Judge Dredd, is coming our way this fall and we’ve got the first footage today. Titled simply Dredd, Star Trek‘s Karl Urban is in the lead role, with indie staple Olivia Thirlby by his side. While Pete Travis seems to be directing with a bit more style here compared to his dud Vantage Point, it’s difficult to get excited for this one.
Thirlby looks way out of her element and while I shouldn’t be expecting anything stellar from this reboot, I was hoping Alex Garland (Sunshine, 28 Days Later) cooked up a more interesting story than what looks to be a simple, confined building take-over (akin to this year’s The Raid). One can check out the trailer below also featuring Lena Headey, Jason Cope, Langley Kirkwood,...

Haven’t seen a trailer for Petey Travis’ “Dredd” yet, but I suspect we’ll see it soon enough. I mean, they can’t hide this thing forever, can he? It is curious though that we haven’t seen anything from the film yet except for some images and now, this new poster. Oh well, I’m sure they know what they’re doing. After all, they did promise it would be better than the Stallone version, and I’m sure they wouldn’t promise it if they couldn’t deliver. Right?
