Of all the major American sports, basketball is the one where personality shines through the easiest. There’s no helmet, no facemask. Any one player only has to share the court with nine others. The athleticism, the fire, and the smiles all come through. So one of the biggest challenges for any documentary filmmaker trying to make a biography of a professional basketball player is to contend with what’s already freely given.
In the world of the NBA, Stephen Curry isn’t one of the largest personalities, but he’s not a blank slate either. Watch clips from any of his Golden State Warriors’ title runs or his legendary game-winners, and you’ll see a man who isn’t afraid...

As recently as 36 hours ago, the comments section for “Kool Aid & Frozen Pizza,” Mac Miller’s fratty breakthrough hit from 2010, was filled with people chastising the Pittsburgh native (“Wack Miller,” etc.) and his fans. The scolds pointed to a Lord Finesse song called “Hip 2 Da Game” — the beat for which Mac had ripped and repurposed for “Kool Aid.”
(An incredibly brief primer: Lord Finesse signed his first record deal nearly 30 years ago, in 1989; he founded D.I.T.C. and produced the climactic song on Ready to Die; he’s...

Ultra 2016 once again proved itself as the world’s premiere electronic dance music festival, bringing in hundreds of thousands in attendance and offering fans hordes of unreleased music.
It’s always fun to sift through the weekend’s most popular sets, pluck out a couple noteworthy IDs, and then anxiously await their full release. However, one ID from Martin Garrix‘s set has stirred quite a bit of conspiracy.
Contrary to the producer’s statement that his Ultra set would be entirely comprised of his own material, an ID played mid-way through his set has just been released as “Spaceships” under the alias AREA21. Now, apart from a few a cappellas gracing the hour long performance, this is the only track that doesn’t bear the Garrix name.
After giving the track a listen, Garrix’s production style is certainly prominent, so there’s little doubt that he’s directly involved.

Neighbors
Directed by: Nicholas Stoller
Cast: Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, Zac Efron, Dave Franco, Christopher Mintz-Plasse
Running Time: 1 hr 35 mins
Rating: R
Release Date: May 9, 2014
Plot: New parents Mac (Rogen) and Kelly (Byrne) start a war against the fraternity bros (Efron & Franco) who move in next door.
Who’S It For? Fans of Rogen or even Efron willing to settle.
Overall
Nicholas Stoller’s Neighbors is a rager like nearly every film produced by the duo of Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg, their first since last year’s celebrity soiree This Is the End. It has lampshade-hat equivalent of craziness, with frat dudes and dudettes packed to the ceiling as they exhibit outrageous R-rated shenanigans that make Bluto’s zit popping look like a kindergartener’s gag. But alas, if only Neighbors were as funny as it is outrageous, showing that an original spin on familiar content doesn’t guarantee a joke’s success.

Even Justin Bieber will tell you it's been a rough year for the 19-year-old, between his breakup with Selena Gomez and troubles with the law to burning bridges with fans. So it's not all together too surprising that on Tuesday, Bieber told Los Angeles radio station Power 106 that his upcoming album, Journals, would be his last. "After the new album, uh, I'm actually, uh, I'm retiring man, I'm retiring," he said. Soon after, sources close to the star confirmed it was a joke, but we're not so sure that Bieber should retract his statement so quickly. Being a teenager is a confusing time,...

They’re always up for a collaboration, and Justin Bieber and Chris Brown added their swagger to Asher Roth’s latest track “Actin Up.”
Trying to ditch his teeny bopper image, the “One Less Lonely Girl” singer chimed in, “I’m on some Risky Business / I like women and French kisses.”
Meanwhile, Justin recently met up with the boys in The Wanted to talk about a forthcoming collaboration, though he forgot to pick up the whole party’s tab.

Safe to say this may be a controversial move for both Chris Brown and Justin Bieber's careers. The pop stars—who continue to make headlines and tweet about them—are featured on a new Asher Roth track appropriately titled "Actin' Up." And if that's not enough to raise eyebrows, the album is also named The Greenhouse Effect: Vol. 2. The Biebs and Breezy both rap on the new tune, which features a few telling lyrics in the chorus: "I don't really give a f--k, they said I ain't old enough, but I be young and acting up," Roth, who was signed to Island Def Jam records by Bieber's manager Scooter Braun back in 2008,...

Listen to Justin & Chris’ brand-new rhymes, then weigh in: Do they make beautiful music together?
Two HollywoodLife.com staples, Justin Bieber and Chris Brown, join forces on Asher Roth‘s new single “Actin’ Up,” and the results are — well, I’ll let you decide that for yourself. What’s important is that Chris and the Biebs say lots of rude stuff about women. And isn’t that always fun?
Justin Bieber Raps About ‘Women And French Kisses’
Though much of Justin’s rap is silly — he literally whines about his mom, Pattie Mallette, telling him to wash the dishes — his rhymes take a decidedly more adult turn at the end:
I’m on some Risky Business / I like women and french kisses.
Ooh, Biebs. You bad. (We bet Justin’s new friend Jordan Ozuna knows all about those French kisses.)

As far as celeb attendance goes, the DNC tends to be where it’s at — Hollywood does have a reputation to live up to, after all. But 2012 is not 2008 and while the Dems have certainly attracted a few ounces of star power to the convention, it’s not going to be the first-class lounge/Oscar backstage feeling it was four years ago, when the Cold War Kids opened a Shepard Fairey art exhibit and Google co-hosted a party with Vanity Fair. While the Rnc had Clint Eastwood and his now even-more-famous sidekick — the chair — the DNC boasts parties with Will.

Bieber pays homage to Motown soul with new Believe single.
By Jocelyn Vena
Justin Bieber on his "Believe" album cover

Justin Bieber's new single "Die in Your Arms" is full of funky beats, Motown harmonies and good old-fashioned romantic longing. In the song, produced by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, Bieber just wants to make the apple of his eye believe he loves her so much that he'd rather die in her arms than be away from her for too long.
The song's vintage swing, finger snaps and melodies certainly recall the heyday of feel-good R&B from the 1960s, which is mirrored in the song's sentiment. On the chorus, Bieber sings, "Honestly, the truth is, if I could just die in your arms/ I wouldn't mind/ 'Cause every time you touch me/ I just die in your arms/ It feels so right/ So baby, baby, baby,...

By now, if you made the smart choice this weekend, you're thinking to yourself, "damn, 'Cabin In The Woods' was a nice fucking surprise!" An atypical horror film to say the least writer/producer Joss Whedon and director Drew Goddard likely blew a lot of minds this weekend.
However, you might be thinking to yourself. Wait, there's no soundtrack, other than the score by David Julyan of course, and what were all those songs featured in the movie? Let’s start off with this really excellent clip of tonight’s season premiere of Face Off. It’s a Wizard of Oz challenge and the artists’ concepts are amazing; this isn’t your 1939 MGM Wizard of Oz. I have a not-surprising preference for the steampunk concept; which is your favorite? I can’t wait to see the finished works tonight.

What’s a good Christmas present for all the teenyboppers out there? How about a new Justin Bieber freestyle? Bieber, appearing on BootlegKev’s radio show on Las Vegas’ Hot 97.5, dropped some verses over the beat to Notorious B.I.G’s “Whot Shot Ya?” Bieber went on for about a minute and a half, including lines like, "I am so lost like paper no pen." After the freestyle finished, the radio host suggested Bieber might be on Asher Roth’s new album. Bieber’s response? “Bieber swag.” Oh boy. Here’s the video: Related Articles:...

Asher Roth has signed to Def Jam records through his current label Src for his new album. Island Def Jam's Senior Vice President Shawn 'Pecas' Costner confirmed on his Twitter that the 'I Love College' rapper is now part of the Def Jam roster. However, Src's CEO Steve Rifkind clarified on his Twitter that Roth is still with Src, but has teamed up with Def Jam for the release of his upcoming album. Src apparently will also relaunch Loud Records, which shut down in 2002. Rifkind wrote: "Blogs got it wrong! @asherroth still part of the Src Fam. Src team up (more)...

Who's Asher Roth you say? He's that guy from Philly who loves smoking weed, had a minor hit with "I Love College," was nominated for a couple Vma's, and inevitably suffered accusations that he was just trying to capitalize on the success of Eminem because, you know, he's a white rapper. Remember? Well, just as Lady Gaga is a different person from Madonna, Roth has quite a different background than Eminem, who he claims as an influence, along with Jay-z. About his suburban upbringing, he once explained: "When I wrote my 'A Milli' freestyle, that was me listening to ten years of hip-hop and not relating to it at all. Like, damn, I don't sell coke. Damn, I don't have cars or twenty-five-inch rims. I don't have guns. I finally got to a point where I had the confidence [...]...

Justin Bieber was in such high demand at the Dolce & Gabbana store Sept. 8, he spent most of the night upstairs because the crowd was almost out of control — but he did manage to come down for a quick performance!
Wherever Justin Bieber goes, screaming girls will follow — and his first Fashion’s Night Out appearance was no exception! The Biebs was the guest of honor at Dolce & Gabbana’s Fashion’s Night Out event in New York City Sept. 8 and HollywoodLife.com can tell you first-hand it was complete madness.
Hundreds of Beliebers came to the store on Madison & 69th St. to catch a glimpse of the 17-year-old rockstar and get their D&G purchases signed — while some bought a small piece of makeup, others splurged on a $195 tee. Justin managed to sign items for close to two hours! Proceeds went to benefit Pencils of Promise, a charity very dear to his heart.

Asher Roth has just debuted a music video in support of his single "Summertime". Capturing the spirit of summer, the "Asleep in the Bread Aisle" rapper is lounging on the beach, throwing a party at the backyard and soaking in a hot tub with scantily-clad ladies.
"Summertime" features Quan and comes from production hands of Nottz, the same guy he worked with for 2010's mini album "The Rawth (Ep)". When releasing the sunny, breezy song last month, Asher tweeted, "There's no way I can let the #firstdayofsummer pass without dropping a record."
Asher Roth is currently working on his upcoming second studio album which is tentatively titled "The Spaghetti Tree". Rumor has it, he will collaborate with Akon in a song called "Last Man Standing". Other details about the forthcoming CD are still scarce.

Who’s that “Scooter” that Justin Bieber always thanks when accepting awards on stage? He’s the man who had Usher, Mc Hammer and the Biebs himself performing at his 30th birthday extravaganza in Hollywood Saturday night. Paris Hilton and most of young Hollywood came out to the Music Box for manager Scooter Braun, who cut his teeth handling national promotions for Jermaine Dupri and brokering Pepsi deals for Ludacris while still in college at Emory. That was before he discovered both Asher Roth and Bieber online. The paparazzi swarm outside filled in for the red carpet-less...

Justin Bieber, Usher and Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine came out to party together on Saturday night. And just what occasion were they celebrating? Well, they were all on hand as Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, celebrated turning the big 3-0. The par-tay took place in Los Angeles, where Braun was roasted by his pals, including the night's Mc, Usher.
Other attendees included Asher Roth, Kim Kardashian, Mary J Blige, Paris and Nicky Hilton, Jaden Smith, Wilmer Valderrama and Rita Wilson. Those who couldn't make the party but recorded well-wishes for the music mogul included Will Smith, Diddy, Ludacris and Keri Hilson.
Not only was there food and revelry, but there were also some A-list performances from The Dan Band, Usher and, yes, Bieber, who played drums and performed "Baby," as well as "Never Say Never" with Jaden.
But who turned up for the night's big surprise?
Perhaps the most surprising...

Considering their outputs, I was abhorred at the possibility of two the annoyances of Akon and Asher Roth combined for a song. Then that idea became reality. But I'm finding myself pleasantly surprised. "Last Man Standing," a new Roth single with the singer guesting, has teh rapper sounding hungry. After the runaway success of "I Love College" and the fratty white-boy dorkishness that thrived therein, it sounds here like Roth is trying to put his smarts into some serious spit. And the hook, as it pretends to break no new bounds, is catchy as hell. The beat is a thudding rally-time...

Dot Dot Curve originated out of Greenwood, Indiana in 2008, when the brainchild, Spanky, decided to create a solo project. Justin Bieber literally risked life and limb when he pulled off some insanely dangerous stunts during a cameo on "Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory," this week. Bieber proved that he's willing to put himself in the face of danger (and laugh at it) as he rode a go-cart into a foam pit and got dragged around the Fantasy Factory on a skateboard.
Bieber seemed to fit in perfectly in the testosterone-fueled world of the Factory, and he got us wondering what other MTV shows the Canadian superstar might want to visit next.
"Punk'd": This is a natural choice given that Bieber was once attached to a reboot of the show, taking over the hosting duties from Ashton Kutcher. Imagine the funny stunts he could pull on Asher Roth, Willow Smith (and the whole Smith family for that matter) and Usher. Omg!
"The Hills": Speaking of reboots, what better way...

Asher Roth has just debuted a music video for his latest track "Gotta Get Up". In this newly-premiered video, the rapper is featured wandering aimlessly around the neighborhood, going to a cafe, hitting a local bowling alley, and taking his girl to a date.
"Gotta Get Up" is one of the materials in Asher's new mini album with Nottz, "Rawth Ep". Its accompanying music video features a cameo from Chester French's D.A. Wallach and comes from direction hands of Luke Tedaldi.
Asher Roth is currently working on his second studio album "The Spaghetti Tree" which hasn't got release date. Last year, he talked about working with Pharrell Williams and hinted the content of this new effort will be more serious compared to the predecessor.

It's a strangely huge day for birthdays in the music world, as it represents a turn of the calendar for idiosyncratic pop star Ke$ha (who is 24 today) as well as legendary Who frontman Roger Daltrey (he is now 67). But of course the big birthday today belongs to Justin Bieber, who makes the transition from 16-year-old pop superstar to 17-year-old pop superstar. In honor of Bieber's big day, here are the 17 definitive songs in the Bieber catalog.

"Baby"
Bieber's biggest song, the one with the hugest hook and an underrated guest spot care of Ludacris.
