There aren’t a whole lot of comparisons between Netflix’s teen rom-com “Never Have I Ever” and the HBO drama “Succession”, but the disparate series wrapped their fourth and final seasons within weeks of each other, both sticking the landing.
Finishing a TV show is an inherently gargantuan/intimidating/daunting task, and very few achieve the holy grail of doing so without disappointing or infuriating even a small faction of their fandom. Shorter seasons and scheduled endings are less rare in the streaming age, but still satisfying for the devoted viewer. Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher’s “Never Have I Ever” concluded with fulfilling emotional arcs for Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) — especially in her tumultuous relationship with mother Nalini (Poorna Jagannathan) — and with a protagonist who evolved palpably in front of the audience.

[This story contains spoilers from the fourth and final season of Netflix’s Never Have I Ever.]
Netflix’s Never Have I Ever ended its fourth and final season with lead character Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) at her dream college, Princeton, and with the long-awaited resolution of the series-long love triangle between Devi, Paxton Hall-Yoshida (Darren Barnet) and Ben Gross (Jaren Lewison).
Devi ends the show with Ben, with the pair cuddling together in Devi’s dorm room. The enemies-turned-friends-turned-lovers start off the final season having sex but after the awkward experience, the first time for both of them, they don’t immediately get together, with Ben dating art student Margot (Victoria Moroles) and Devi having a fling with bad boy Ethan (Michael Cimino). As their senior year progresses, Devi and Ben find themselves becoming friends again after not even speaking to each other for part of the fall, but it’s not until the final episode that the two finally couple up.

If there is a silver lining to being stuck inside because our air quality is dangerous and unhealthy as a result of the Canadian wildfires, it’s that we have more time to watch TV. June is off to a hot start, too, with several awards contenders for next year’s Emmys debuting new seasons this week.
The fourth and, sadly, final season of Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher’s coming-of-age dramedy “Never Have I Ever” hit Netflix on Thursday. With the show’s trademark sense of humor firmly in place, the final episodes — which are expertly narrated once again by tennis icon John McEnroe (Emmy voters should really take notice) — Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) and her friends navigate their senior year of high school and all the familiar trappings of trying to make plans for the future while still figuring out who you are and what you want. Los Angeles, June 9 (Ians) Actress Richa Moorjani, who is popularly known by her character name Kamala from ‘Never Have I Ever’, has heaped praise on the show’s set for not only boosting her faith in herself, but also for always making her feel like she was truly welcome.
“First of all, I was not the only brown person, and I was playing an Indian character with an Indian name who was allowed to have a slight Indian accent, but the comedy’s not about her accent. It’s just part of who she is,” Moorjani told People.
Moorjani wrapped up filming in August 2022, and she immediately travelled to Calgary in Alberta, Canada, to film the fifth season of ‘Fargo’ for six months, which she calls an “incredible experience.”

Season four of Netflix's "Never Have I Ever" may have just dropped but we're already thinking about how we can see Devi and friends again. The Maitreyi Ramakrishnan-led teen dramedy is ending with this final season, as Devi heads off to college after completing her senior year of high school.
Back in 2022, series creator Mindy Kaling was upfront about why she wanted the show to conclude with four seasons. "I'm old-school, so I come from 'The Office,' where that show went on for nine seasons, and '[The] Mindy Project' went on for six seasons, but those were shows that weren't about high school," she told Popsugar at the time. "In the beginning, I thought, 'Oh, I could do this show forever and ever,' but then you see these kids and it's scary how old they look by the end of the season. There has never been a TV character like Devi Vishwakumar. Lang Fisher and Mindy Kaling’s snappy and sweet teen comedy “Never Have I Ever” has long since felt like an example of the power of highly specific points of view in storytelling, and in its fourth and final season, its complex protagonist has only grown more dynamic – and chaotic. Devi is undeniably unique but often painfully relatable.

Ever since the show’s debut in 2020, Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher’s coming-of-age dramedy Never Have I Ever has been lauded for its nuanced South Asian representation and poignant portrayal of grief. At the center of it all lies Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), an Indian-American high schooler dealing with typical teenage problems — budding romance, friendship drama, and self-discovery — while also grappling with unprocessed trauma following her father’s untimely death.
That all may sound a bit heavy, but Never Have I Ever thrives at maintaining a careful balance between its light-hearted wit and emotional depth. The fourth and final season continues that pattern, delivering a hilarious yet heartfelt portrait of the uncertainties that come with being 17 and figuring out the person you hope to become.

Never Have I Ever celebrated its fourth and final season premiere on Thursday, but with two key pieces missing — co-creators Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, who skipped the event amid the writers strike.
“I love what I get to do, and I understand how lucky I am to be able to work in Hollywood at all,” Kaling wrote on her Instagram account just hours before the red carpet in Los Angeles, explaining her decision to stand with the WGA. “I hope the strike ends soon. Though it appears Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) and Ben (Jaren Lewison) may have taken each other up on their mutual offer, the two don’t seem to be together yet, with Ben spotted kissing art student Margot (Victoria Moroles) as he and Devi have some awkward interactions.
The confusion continues as Devi spots Paxton (Darren Barnet) back at her school despite having graduated at the end of season three. But Paxton’s appearance offers a hint of how Barnet returns to the series for its final season.

That is until Ben walks down the hall and Devi dissolves into a blurb of nerves.

It's official — our time with Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) is coming to an end. "Never Have I Ever" is set to premiere its final season next month, concluding Devi's chaotic high school years with what I can only assume will be an extremely eventful senior year. In the three seasons that we've known her, Devi has fought a coyote, juggled two boyfriends at the same time, stalked her own mother, and pissed off everyone in her life at least once. To say that she keeps things interesting would be an understatement ... but she's also grown immensely in all that time, working through the loss of her dad in therapy and surviving high school one personal crisis at a time.

Devi Vishwakumar isn’t ready to say goodbye, and neither are we.
After losing her virginity to Ben Gross (Jaren Lewinson), Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) is ready for her final year of high school, with eyes on the Princeton prize in the trailer for “Never Have I Ever” Season 4 — the final batch of episodes for the Netflix series, which drop June 8 on the streamer.
Of course, it wouldn’t be the same without her besties Eleanor (Ramona Young) and Fabiola (Lee Rodriquez) by her side as they conquer college applications, prom and graduation.
It looks like some special guest stars will appear in this final season of Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher’s comedy series. Ken Marino can be glimpsed driving the girls to prom in a limo. Michael Cimino (“Love Victor”) has been crowned new king of the hot pocket, and his character Ethan has gotten, well, hotter over the summer.

Devi Vishwakumar is back for one more round of misadventures, as Netflix has just announced a release date for "Never Have I Ever" season 4. The fourth season of the high school-set comedy is poised to be its last, and while we're not quite ready to say goodbye to these vibrant weirdos and their not-finished-cooking teen brains yet, the final episodes look like a lot of fun.
Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher's Netflix comedy about a group of high school geeks led by horny, adventure-seeking Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) has been lauded from its first season for its surprisingly poignant examination of grief and stereotype-bucking Indian-American representation. Across its three seasons, the show has gone to some deep places (the death of Devi's father influences both her best and worst choices) and some deeply funny ones, and while the latest teaser only offers a small taste of what's to come, it...
