We're annoyed with The X Factor. No, not because of Mason Noise, or because Sinitta wasn't at Judges' Houses, or because of Simon Cowell's eye-wateringly high waistline. Nope, we're annoyed with The X Factor because we're not getting Halloween Week this year.
There's nothing scarier than a hopeful singer nervously belting out a classic while dressed in lycra and cobwebs, but we're going to be denied this pleasure as the contestants instead face the "this is me" theme for the first live show on Saturday. But that doesn't stop us from carving a pumpkin, popping on a witch's hat and reliving these best ever Halloween Week performances:
1. 'E.T.' - Little Mix (2011)

The X Factor knows how to create drama. From the blast of 'O Fortuna' as Simon Cowell and his buddies enter the stage, to former voiceover man Peter Dickson hamming it up, they've got the atmosphere nailed.
One of the most exciting elements of the show will always be the big Sunday night eliminations, especially if the dreaded Deadlock comes into play. Most of the time, the judges get it right, but sometimes there are downright shocks. Here are the biggest to date, brought to you in association with TalkTalk's new Bopheads app:
1. Laura White (series 5)
Wigan lass Laura was tipped for X Factor success in 2008's early stages, but found herself in a tough girls group with the public's favourite indie fairy Diana Vickers and future victor Alexandra Burke. Even so, no-one expected her to leave as early as the fifth week, especially with Ricky Gervais lookalike Daniel Evans still knocking around.

You don’t see a lot of drum and bass tracks on the mainstream market these days, but Rudimental‘s “Never Let You Go” stands a chance of climbing the charts. BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac premiered it on her show recently and gave it her “Hottest Record In The World” honor. Mass appeal aside, it truly does bring something new to the conversation that is drum and bass.
The warm melody and soulful vocals leading up to the syncopated drum beat evoke much of the same feelings as Aiden Grimshaw’s “Is This Love,” but a horn section tastefully added near the end endows an almost ska-like quality to the anthemic track.
Contemporary drum and bass often feels like a race to the bottom; the image of crate diggers playing dark grooves in basements directly contrasts the bright energy of more festival-friendly music. However, “Never Let You Go” meets...

It might be a relatively new institution, but Halloween Week on The X Factor is always guaranteed to bring us brilliant performances - and some nightmare-inducing ones, too. It was, after all, Halloween Week which brought us Gary Barlow's infamous "fag ash breath" comment.
With our current batch of contestants hurriedly preparing their scariest songs, and once we got over the disappointment of discovering Jedward's 'Ghostbusters' was actually in Movie Week, we picked out 12 memorable Halloween Week performances from years gone by in no particular order...

This is how you shake it off! Cher was getting all sorts of criticism for being fond of an old rap or two, so she came out on Halloween Week to prove she could sing with a performance of the belter 'Stay' by Shakespears Sister. My favourite X Factor moment has to be 'Gummogate', a kerfuffle that saw Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh quarrelling over American independent cinema. Jamie Archer's rendition of 'Crying' during 2009's Movie Week (c'mon, Simon, have you *really* seen that film?) irked Louis so much he seemed to question the very existence of Harmony Korine's cult oddity. This all leads to the question... has Louis seen Spring Breakers?...

View the original post X Factor: Aiden Grimshaw lands a record deal! on Unreality TV
All those Twitter campaigns paid off and Aiden Grimshaw fans will be elated to hear that he has finally landed a record deal.
The ‘intense’ singer, who was eliminated from The X Factor in week six of the series last year, is reportedly on the brink of singing a contract with Simon Cowell’s Syco label and will release his debut album later this year.
The 19 year old, from Blackpool, will join fellow X Factor stars Cher Lloyd, Matt Cardle and One Direction on the label. Runner up Rebecca Ferguson is said to have signed with Epic.
However, before the deal is finalised, Aiden must prove his popularity and impress fans at the show’s nationwide tour which kicks off next month. Grimshaw shouldn’t have actually had a spot on the tour, as...

Matt Cardle and his pal Aiden Grimshaw reportedly ran up an £8,000 bar bill as they celebrated New Year’s Eve.
The X Factor winner treated a group of friends including his former housemate to a party at the Tup Tup Palace nightclub in Newcastle upon Tyne. They all left through the back door at 3am.
The Sun report that the raucous group enjoyed four bottles of Ace of Spades champagne, three of Havana rum, three of Jagermeister, four of Grey Goose vodka and 50 bottles of beer. The party then returned to their city hotel, where Cardle and Grimshaw continued to drink for another three hours.
A source told the newspaper:
“The boys looked like they were having a great time and were definitely a hit with the ladies. Drinks were flowing all night long.”
The source added that Cardle and his management team split the bar tab between them.

This year's 16 finalists of "The X Factor" reunite and share screen in a music video of new charity single "Heroes". The video features footage of soldiers serving overseas and the finalist performance in recording booth. Their meeting with some of those wounded heroes and the retired ones is inserted as well.
"Heroes" is originally a 1977 single by David Bowie. It was re-recorded by the "X Factor" finalists to raise fund for Help for Heroes, an initiative benefiting the wounded soldiers. Matt Cardle thinks Katie Waissel is only in 'The X Factor' because she makes good TV. The 27-year-old singer - who is one of the favourites to win the ITV1 competition - admitted seeing Aiden Grimshaw leave after last weekend's controversial sing-off was ''like losing a brother'', and he only lost out to the kooky blonde because she ''gets the show attention''. He explained: ''I'm shocked and devastated. It's like losing a brother. I was surprised by the result. When it went to Katie and Aiden in the bottom two, I didn't think he would go. Louis Walsh has claimed that he would not be surprised if Simon Cowell is the judge to eventually vote Katie Waissel off of The X Factor. Two weeks ago Walsh cast the deciding vote to save Waissel and last week his vote took the decision to deadlock - resulting in Aiden Grimshaw's shock exit. Matt Cardle has reportedly criticised Simon Cowell for choosing to save Katie Waissel over Aiden Grimshaw on The X Factor. On Sunday's results show, Cowell and Cheryl Cole chose to save Waissel, while Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue opted to send her home. Waissel was ultimately saved by the public vote after the decision went to deadlock. Cardle has now accused Cowell of keeping Waissel in the competition simply because she generates more publicity for the show than Grimshaw, who Cardle described as "a much better singer". "In terms of the television show, Aiden was expendable," The Daily Record quotes Cardle as saying. "I was shocked when Simon sent him home, but then Katie is better for the show than Aiden is. She gets the coverage, she gets the show attention. He just isn't like that but he is a much better singer. (more)...

He said: “I had a beer or two. I’m Ok, last night I had a bit of a sob with Matt, but I’ll get over it, I think. I think you’ve always got to expect you are going to be in the bottom two and prepare. It is what it is, you win some, you lose some.”
Despite losing out to controversial Katie – who was in the bottom two for the fourth time – Aiden admitted seeing her being booed by the show’s audience wasn’t a nice experience.

Katie Waissel has reportedly double crossed X Factor bosses and allowed a record which features her vocals to be released in America.
Simon Cowell bought Katie out of her record deal with La based Chamberlain Records earlier this year and the 24 year old was ordered to cut all ties with the company. However a track on which her vocals are featured was released by the company last week on an album by singer-songwriter David Reed. The song titled Moving Mountains can be heard below.
A source told The Sun: “Katie is supposed to have severed all ties with Chamberlain – but it’s nonsense. She’s still in contact with them and they’re still releasing music by her.
“She might have hoped this would slip under the radar, but it’s a bit foolish.”
The move is set to further anger viewers who were already enraged when Katie survived her...

Famous before winning, Katie Waissel dodges another elimination this week on "The X Factor" when the voting result revealed that the public still wants to see her another week. Waissel's stay means Aiden Grimshaw has to leave the competition after a head-to-head sing-off.
For two weeks in a row, Waissel was placed in the bottom two along with Belle Amie and Treyc Cohen respectively but she controversially survived though she often went off-key and forgot the lyrics of the song. This week's bottom two position is her fourth in the competition.
The judges were equally divided between Waissel and Grimshaw with Cheryl Cole defending Waissel as her own apprentice and Simon Cowell not giving any reason for his choice. Louis Walsh backed up Dannii Minogue's apprentice, saying Grimshaw has more potential than Waissel.
When host Dermot O'Leary revealed that Grimshaw is the one leaving, Waissel clutched her head in awe.
