“Dancing with the Stars” premiered in 2005 with a focus on teaching celebrities some fancy footwork. But along the way the professional dancers who teach and partner with those celebrity amateurs became stars in their own right. Many of them returned to the show year after year, and over a dozen have won the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy over the course of the series. Scroll down to see every single “DWTS” pro champion, listed by their number of victories.
It’s fitting that the “DWTS” pros have become fan-favorites because they’re not just dancers. They’re also trainers, choreographers and storytellers, and their chemistry with the stars fuels the show’s best routines, so they’re truly the lifeblood of the competition, especially when they bring talent and charisma out of unexpected places, from child stars to race car drivers to one male model, Nyle Dimarco, who won the Mirror...

After getting eliminated last season on “Dancing with the Stars,” Val Chmerkovskiy said that was “probably” his last season and he had no regrets about his tenure. Cut to a year later and the two-time champ is back, partnered with “The Bachelorette” star Gabby Windey, and it turns out he didn’t really want to bid adieu.
“I don’t think I ever wanted to leave. I said that it potentially could be my last season because it was a cocktail of different emotions,” Chmerkovskiy told Parade. “One emotion was, obviously, disappointment. That interview came right after I was eliminated last season. But mostly it came from just emotionally being exhausted. I generally put my heart and soul into this project, I care about it immensely. I care about dance. Broadly speaking I care about being a good teacher and being a good ambassador of dance. But, also, I care about the show.

Three things in life are certain: death, taxes, and that “Bachelor Nation” will rally behind their faves on “Dancing with the Stars.” But that didn’t pan out for Matt James, who was eliminated in 12th place at the end of “Disney Villains Night.” It was a close call, though. The judges had to choose between him and another reality star, “Real Housewives” alum Kenya Moore. Did you agree with their choice? Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.

Kaitlyn Bristowe is going to be the third Bachelorette to compete on “Dancing with the Stars” and she’s already received some tips from the last one, Hannah Brown.
“She said, ‘Get rest while you can.’ I’m like, oh boy! She’s like 10 years younger than me, so… I pulled my back the other day trying to do a squat. I might be in trouble!” Bristowe said on her Kin web series “9 to Wine with Kaitlyn Bristowe” (watch above). “I’m going to take all the advice Hannah can give me. I actually know a few other people who’ve been on the show too. … I’m going to listen to her and I’m going to rest and take care of myself, and I’m not going to take on as much as I usually do in life because my passion has always been dancing.”

Kaitlyn Bristowe waited five years for her “Dancing with the Stars” dream to come true, a turn of events that she says “feels like a wrong has been made right.”
Chris Harrison shocked the Season 11 “Bachelorette” star on Monday’s “The Bachelor: Greatest Seasons — Ever!” when he told Bristowe that she’d be on “Dancing” Season 29 — three years after she claimed that “Bachelor” creator Mike Fleiss blocked her from going on the show in 2015 following her rose-giving stint.

Carrie Ann Inaba has a belated apology for Kelly Monaco. In an interview celebrating the 15th anniversary of “Dancing with the Stars'” series premiere, which was Monday, the judge was taken aback by the “abrasive” critique she gave Monaco for her debut dance.
After the “General Hospital” star performed a waltz with partner Alec Mazo, Inaba sternly told her, “Kelly, I didn’t enjoy your dancing. You looked very stiff and you looked very refined. I appreciated your carriage, but it was very stiff. And it wasn’t enjoyable to watch.”
The audience immediately booed Inaba, who now says she didn’t realize how harsh she had come off.
“I was like, Whoa, damn, Carrie Ann! Damn!” Inaba told Yahoo Entertainment. “I was shocked at how abrasive the words sounded once they came out of my mouth because I was meaning them with, like, compassion, but they didn’t come out with compassion.

It seems like every other day there's an announcement that someone who was once on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette is getting married or having a baby. And that estimate isn't too far off—only it isn't fellow show alums they're settling down with. There have been a handful of success stories, of course. Sean Lowe and his chosen bride Catherine (née Giudici) now have three children together. Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum have been married for more than seven years and have two children. Jason and Molly Mesnick, parents of a daughter, worked out swimmingly once the discomfort of him dumping Melissa Rycroft on the After the Final Rose...

ABC is really gonna milk this unspoiled finale for all it’s worth, huh? On Monday’s “The Bachelor: Women Tell All,” Chris Harrison teased Peter Weber‘s two-part finale next week as one so unpredictable that not a single soul knows how it concludes.
“It is a finale so unexpected, so unprecedented, there is not a single person who knows how Peter’s journey will end,” Harrison stated. “Not even Peter.”
Is this typical Bachelor Nation hyperbole or is there something to it? The fact that the finale has been unspoiled gives it some credence, and Peter, who picked his final two of Hannah Ann Sluss and Madison Prewett on Monday’s episode, confirms there is a basis of truth to it.

It feels like someone from the “Bachelor” franchise is on “Dancing with the Stars” every season, but in reality (no pun intended), there’s only been eight love-seeking folks who’ve hoofed it on the hardwood in 28 seasons. And Hannah Brown is just the second one to actually win the whole thing.

“Girl on Fire” indeed. Hannah Brown’s “Dancing with the Stars” victory on Monday ended a four-season streak of male champs and equalized the number of male and female winners.
Now “Dancing” has an even 14 male winners and 14 female winners through 28 seasons. As Thanos would say, “Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.” What’s interesting about its champs, though, is a bunch have come during some one-gender domination. Seasons 2 through 5 were won by men; Seasons 15 through 18 were won by women; and Season 24 through 27 were all dudes again.
Had Kel Mitchell, who finished second, prevailed, it would’ve marked the longest win streak by either gender at five straight.

As Gold Derby’s official odds predicted, “The Bachelorette” star Hannah Brown won the Mirror Ball Trophy on November 25 at the end of the season 28 finale right after getting her first ever perfect score for her freestyle routine (watch it below). After a one-week hiatus, James Van Der Beek has reclaimed the top spot in our “Dancing with the Stars” odds as not only the one to beat, but the guy to beat. The next closest man in our odds is — gulp — Sean Spicer in seventh place. If the “Dawson’s Creek” alum does take home the Mirrorball, he’d be the fifth consecutive man to win, marking the longest win streak by either gender on the show.
“Dancing” has had a pretty even split through 27 seasons with 13 female champs and 14 male champs. But there has been some same-sex domination in there, but none more than four in a row: Seasons 2 through 5 were won by men; Seasons 15 through 18 were won by women; and since Season 24, we’ve had dude champs.

After a year-long hiatus “Dancing with the Stars” is back with 12 new celebrities gracing the dance floor to win the next Mirror Ball Trophy. In typical “DWTS” fashion, this season already had its fair share of drama, from Sean Spicer’s controversial casting, to Christie Brinkley’s unexpected injury and withdrawal, to her daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook filling in for her at the 11th hour. And in a “DWTS” first we learned the stars’ professional partners right before the couples took the stage to perform their first routine of the season — though those pairings had already leaked out ahead of time anyway.
Along with a new intro and set, we also saw the judges change their tune in terms of scoring. For the first time in several seasons, not one couple scored higher than a 7, and the 3 paddles made a couple of rare appearances.

“Dancing with the Stars” season 28 has only just begun, but already thbere has been drama. The casting of former White House press secretary and professional liar Sean Spicer was greeted with widespread derision, even by the show’s host, Tom Bergeron. Fellow contestant Karamo Brown got in hot water for defending Spicer online. Two pro dancers were unceremoniously dropped from the show. And then Christie Brinkley had to drop out due to injury at the last minute. So was the season premiere as eventful as all the drama behind the scenes? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
Brinkley was replaced in the cast by her daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook, so the season still started with a dozen celebs. In addition to her, Spicer and Brown, the ballroom welcomed actors James Van Der Beek, Kel Mitchell and Kate Flannery; singers Lauren Alaina, Ally Brooke...

“Dancing with the Stars” has undergone a cast shakeup — and no, we’re not talking about Artem Chigvintsev and Sharna Burgess. Christie Brinkley has dropped out due to injury and will be replaced by her daughter, Sailor Brinkley-Cook, for the 28th season, which premieres Monday.
The supermodel injured her arm and wrist during rehearsals and requires surgery, according to a statement from ABC. “While rehearsing for the premiere of ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ Christie Brinkley suffered injuries which required surgery to her wrist and arm. She is unable to continue her planned participation on the show,” the statement read. “Keeping it all in the family, her daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook, a ‘Sports Illustrated’ model, has chosen to quickly step in with hours to learn the entire routine and will compete in her mother’s place for the remainder of the season. We wish Christie a full and speedy recovery and look...

“The Bachelorette” star Hannah Brown is riding the middle of the pack in fifth place in our early odds to win “Dancing with the Stars,” but one alum is betting big on her: Grocery Store Joe himself.
Obviously, Joe Amabile will be pulling for his fellow “Bachelor” franchise star, but the Season 27 fan favorite believes Brown has what it takes to win it all. “I’m going to say right now, I think she’s going to win,” Amabile told PeopleTV’s “Reality Check” (watch below). “I really do. You heard it here first!”
Brown would be the second alum from the “Bachelor” franchise to win, following Melissa Rycroft in Season 15, aka the all-stars outing, and the first who was a titular Bachelor/ette. She’s only the second Bachelorette to hit the dance floor, 14 years after Trista Sutter became the very first contestant eliminated in the first season. None...

“Dancing with the Stars” and the “Bachelor” franchise both air on ABC, so the network takes every opportunity it can to capitalize on that cross-promotion by adding “Bachelor” alums to its “DWTS” celebrity lineups. But they don’t tend to win. Despite the show’s robust fan base, the only champ to come from that reality juggernaut was Melissa Rycroft, who won the Mirrorball trophy in Season 15 (2012). Can Hannah Brown end that losing streak seven years later when season 28 airs starting Sept. 16? Let’s consider the pros and cons.

Pros
“Bachelor” alums come with a built-in fan base that usually manages to keep them alive in the competition even when their dancing isn’t, shall we say, marriage material. Consider Joe Amabile (aka “Grocery Store Joe”) on Season 27 last fall. He was one of the lowest-scoring celebs of the season,...

Bachelor Nation is no stranger to “Dancing with the Stars.” A bunch of its alums have hoofed it, and Hannah Brown will be the latest to do so this fall. But her participation is notable in one way: She’s only the second titular Bachelorette to do “Dancing with the Stars.”
The only other star of “The Bachelorette” to hit the hardwood was the very first one, Trista Sutter, who has the dubious honor of being the very first contestant eliminated on “Dancing” way back in its six-contestant debut season in 2005. It was practically a different show back then. Since then, “Dancing” has only booked one other female Bachelor Nation alum prior to Brown: Melissa Rycroft, who was dumped by Jason Mesnick after he chose her on the Season 13 finale of “The Bachelor.” Rycroft was never the Bachelorette, and she finished third on Season 8 of “Dancing” and then won the...

On the August 21 edition of “Good Morning America,” “Dancing with the Stars” announced the celebrities who will enter the ballroom for season 28 starting on September 16. They are as follows:
— Mary Wilson (former Supremes singer)
— Karamo Brown
— Hannah Brown
— Christie Brinkley (supermodel)
— Lauren Alaina (country singer)
— James Van Der Beek
— Ray Lewis (NFL football player)
— Kate Flannery
— Ally Brooke (former Fifth Harmony singer)
— Lamar Odom (NBA basketball player)
— Kel Mitchell
— Sean Spicer (former White House press secretary)
That list represents a familiar mix of music stars, actors, athletes, reality show personalities and legends of yesteryear for “DWTS.” Even the inclusion of Sean Spicer isn’t that unusual, though it may be especially contentious this season. The show has featured right-wing political figures before, from Tucker Carlson (white nationalism denier on Fox News) to Rick Perry (currently in charge of Us nukes), but it may be especially controversial now after the summer...

After a dramatic season that ended with Hannah breaking things off with Jed Wyatt and potentially rekindling things with Tyler Cameron, E! The full cast will be revealed on Wednesday, Aug. 21 on Good Morning America. Dancing With the Stars has a long history of drafting the stars of Bachelor Nation. If “Dancing with the Stars” ever does another all-stars season, there’s already one alum who will gladly volunteer as tribute to return: Robert Herjavec.
“Absolutely. I should’ve won. I got gypped,” he quipped to Us Weekly about taking another spin on the dance floor. “We had the best run I’d ever seen on the show and I got 7s. I love that show. It was a great experience.”
That’s an understatement. Herjavec was paired with Kym Johnson in Season 20 in 2015, where they finished in sixth place, and the two are now married with 1-year-old twins. That’s probably better than a Mirrorball trophy.
See Don’t flip out, but this athlete might be on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ next season
As “Dancing” fans know, the “Shark Tank” star did the show because it was his mother’s favorite, and they watched it together when she was ill.

Every season of The Bachelor or Bachelor-adjacent shows, host Chris Harrison promises, "The most dramatic season yet." But with Colton Underwood's stint as The Bachelor, everything changed. We were given a riveting, dramatic season that lived up to Harrison's teases, especially when the final episodes entirely pivoted from what we've come to expect from the show. In the end, there were two painful break-ups in one day and there was no proposal: just the uncertain promise of a relationship that may or may not result in marriage. It feels more and more like The Bachelor's formula may be breaking, and I'm here for it.
The Bachelor franchise has relied on the same premise for years: a slew of suitors are paraded out of a limo with the expectation that they will all fall in love the universally desirable Bachelor/Bachelorette, and within weeks, one of those lucky contestants...

Before Arie, there was Jason. Last year, Arie Luyendyk Jr. became the most hated man on social media when he blindsided his then-fiancé Becca Kufrin by breaking up with her on-camera in order to pursue his original runner-up, Lauren Burnham. Some viewers of The Bachelor called it the most dramatic moment in the franchise's history. But for longtime fans, we'd been here before. 10 years ago, 17 million viewers watched as the Bachelor Jason Mesnick, so beloved from his turn on DeAnna Pappas' season of The Bachelorette, broke up with then-fiancé Melissa Rycroft because he couldn't stop thinking about Molly Malaney, the woman he broke up with in New Zealand. It was painful. It...

At this point, viewers don't really expect the Neil Lane diamonds—and the Bachelor Nation love stories they represent—to be long for this world. With only one Bachelor couple still looking rosy today and another six from spin-off The Bachelorette, the franchise has earned its reputation for not exactly being conducive to lasting love. For some of the more cynical viewers of ABC's love hunts it's become almost sport to start betting on just how many months it will take for the final couple to release a carefully parsed breakup statement and relinquish their multi-carat jewels. (The record goes to Jason Mesnick and Melissa Rycroft...

It’s better to give than to receive, and the judges’ very generous donation of a 30 for Bobby Bones‘ freestyle has saved him and “Dancing with the Stars” from further ignominy. Without that 30, he would’ve been the first winner who didn’t receive a perfect score during their run.
A perfect score for Bones and his partner Sharna Burgess was by no means guaranteed. He had never received a higher single score than an 8 and never scored higher than a 24, first achieved in Week 7, and his dancing level, frankly, didn’t really warrant much higher than that. But as the judges are wont to do sometimes, they handed out perfect scores for everyone’s freestyles on Monday’s finale, which is also kind of insulting to Milo Manheim, Evanna Lynch and Alexis Ren; if Bones’ half-soliloquy, half-dance deserved a 30, then their far technically superior routines deserved 40s. Hilariously, this...

Joe “Grocery Store Joe” Amabile has notched some dubious milestones during his improbable run on “Dancing with the Stars,” but he might hit an ostensibly positive one soon: If he makes it through next week’s semifinal, he’d be the first male star from the “Bachelor” franchise to advance to the final.
There is an asterisk to this potential achievement. If the show cuts just one couple in the six-couple semifinal, then there will be a first-ever final five. The previous four “Bachelor” dudes competed on seasons with a final three or four, and none of them made a semifinal. In terms of actual placements, Jake Pavelka finished seventh in Season 10; Sean Lowe, sixth in Season 16; Chris Soules, fifth in Season 20; and Nick Viall, sixth in Season 24.

Age is just a number, and Milo Manheim might prove that adage true again. The 17-year-old is one of the frontrunners to win “Dancing with the Stars” and would in turn become the show’s youngest male champ ever.
The “Zombies” star, who has the second highest average score this season, would break the record currently held by Jordan Fisher, then 23 when he took home the Mirrorball trophy in Season 25. Fisher had ended the 21-season, 10-and-a-half-year reign of Apolo Anton Ohno, who won Season 4 on his 25th birthday.

With the women dropping like flies and the way scores are going on “Dancing with the Stars,” we could be in store for something that hasn’t happened since the first time it happened way back in Season 3: an all-male final three. Milo Manheim, Juan Pablo Di Pace and DeMarcus Ware are our current predicted finalists, with Manheim the odds-on favorite to win it all.
“Dancing” usually has a mix of female and male celebrity final threes with just three exceptions in 26 seasons. Season 3 was all dudes: winner Emmitt Smith, runner-up Mario Lopez and third-place finisher Joey Lawrence. Twice has the show had all-female final threes: Melissa Rycroft beat Shawn Johnson and Kelly Monaco in Season 15, and Meryl Davis triumphed over Amy Purdy and Candace Cameron Bure in Season 18.

You’re not the only one who think the “Dancing with the Stars” judges suffered from premature perfection when they gave Juan Pablo Di Pace and Cheryl Burke a 30 last week. “It was a little too soon!” Burke told AOL. “Every week you have to start over again. The slate is wiped clean, and everyone starts over. That’s really what happens on this show.”
The pair received the first 30 of the season for their samba in Week 3, tying Season 19’s Janel Parrish and Val Chermkovskiy for the earliest appearance of a perfect score in the show’s history. The last and only time Burke delivered the first perfect score of the season was when she led Gilles Marini to a 30 during Week 4 of Season 8 for their Argentine tango.

Tinashe got the boot on Week 4 of “Dancing with the Stars” despite having the second highest score of the night. But, as of press time, she definitely is not in the top two when it comes to YouTube views. Numbers were down overall this week — compared to last week when six couples had more than 100,000 plays — since it was just trios and not a bunch of reach-for-the-Kleenex sob stories.
Again, some caveats:
1. Needless to say, not everyone who watches a contestant’s dance on YouTube is voting and vice versa.
2. Not every star or dance is created equal. Some people already come in with major notoriety and a fan base, which could boost views. Some pros have a bigger fan base than the stars they’re teaching. Some people accrue fans as the season progresses. Sometimes a performance is just flat-out amazing or a complete hot mess or meme-worthy that...

This week on “Dancing with the Stars” each couple performed a trio routine with a “DWTS” alum or a special celebrity guest. A new Mirror Ball front-runner may have emerged, as Disney star Milo Manheim along with her pro partner Witney Carson and trio partner Riker Lynch brought down the house with an electrifying salsa. The routine was just one point shy of a perfect score.
But as one star rose another was shockingly snuffed out: R&B star Tinashe and her partner Brandon Armstrong were unfairly booted despite topping the leaderboard in the first two weeks of the competition. With her out of the running, which of the remaining celebs will rise to the occasion and pose a serious threat to win the season?

Going into week four of “Dancing with the Stars” season 27, there were 10 couples remaining. But it’s been a challenging month in the ballroom for all of the celebs, so this week they got a little extra help. Monday, October 15 was Trios Night, during which the celebs and their pro partners were each joined by a special guest. So was three a lucky number for the contestants, or was three a crowd? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
Those special guest dancers were mostly past “DWTS” contestants: Amy Purdy, Riker Lynch, Rashad Jennings, Lindsey Stirling, Melissa Rycroft, Joey Fatone and Nastia Liukin. The other three were a reality TV dance star (Maddie Ziegler), a “Bachelor in Paradise” alum (Jordan Kimball) and “Harry Potter” actress Scarlett Byrne. See the full list of trio partnerships here.

It takes three to tango on “Dancing with the Stars” — and to cha-cha, paso doble, salsa, Argentine tango and Charleston. Week 4 is Trio Week, but with a twist this time. While pros and troupe members have joined couples in the past, the show is bringing in former contestants, “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors” contestant Maddie Ziegler (as previously announced), and two people who have absolutely nothing to do with the show whatsoever.
Scarlett Byrne, who played Pansy Parkinson in the “Harry Potter” films, will team with her former co-star Evanna Lynch and Keo Motsepe for their salsa, while “Bachelor in Paradise” star Jordan Kimball will hit the hardwood with Grocery Store Joe and Jenna Johnson for their salsa. Stay thirsty, ABC.
Former champs Melissa Rycroft and Rashad Jennings, and alums Nastia Liukin, Linsdsey Stirling, Riker Lynch, Joey Fatone and Amy Purdy are the past contestants who’ll take another step on the dance floor.

“Dancing with the Stars” eliminated its third contestant on Monday, and for the third time, a woman, Nancy McKeon, went home. Not only that, but it was the third woman who was in the bottom five that was announced during the Week 1 elimination. She followed Nikki Glaser and Danielle Umstead off the dance floor. Will they be joined by the other two who were in the bottom five, Mary Lou Retton and Alexis Ren, in the next two weeks? More importantly, why are the female celebrities dropping like flies?
As we’ve previously noted, “Dancing” is a pretty equal opportunity show, producing 13 female champs from the first 26 seasons. In addition, 25 out of 52 finalists have also been women. There was even a four-season streak with female champs: Melissa Rycroft (Season 15), Kellie Pickler (Season 16), Amber Riley (Season 17) and Meryl Davis (Season 18). The first winner, though controversially, Kelly Monaco, was a woman. So,...

Our favorite show, Dancing With the Stars, is back on the small screen and we couldn't be happier! To celebrate the premiere of Season 27, Closer Weekly put together a revealing roundup of behind-the-scenes drama, spray-tan shenanigans, and more cast secrets from the hit reality competition — scroll down to see! Costume Drama Getting your groove on in a barely-there costume secured by double-sided tape is a recipe for wardrobe malfunctions. "I cannot watch the show without thinking about [it]," DWTS costume designer Daniela Gschwendtner said. "All I look at is their boobs and booties!" Melissa Rycroft, Kelly Monaco, and Nancy Grace are just a few of the stars who've come undone on the live show. To help keep the costumes in place, "Everything is really tucked-in, stretched, then pulled," noted designer Steven Lee. Joe Amabile has been cast in the upcoming 27th season of “Dancing with the Stars.” Affectionately known as “Grocery Store Joe,” Amabile’s claim to fame is “The Bachelorette” and spin-off series “Bachelor in Paradise,” which just concluded on September 11. Because ABC airs both “DWTS” and the “Bachelor” franchise we’ve seen a number of contestants from the dating show cross over to the dancing show, but without much luck so far. Can Amabile break the curse? Let’s consider his pros and cons.

Pros
Amabile’s “Bachelorette” and “Bachelor in Paradise” seasons just aired over the summer, so enthusiasm for him is still fresh. That should help him attract votes from viewers at home, especially since the audiences for “The Bachelorette” and “Bachelor in Paradise” might translate well to the fan base for “Dancing with the Stars.”
He’ll be partnered with Jenna Johnson,...

12. Chris Soules
Our small town farm boy hero Chris Soules didn’t have a very dramatic season, all things considered, but he’s been rocked by scandal after his time on TV. In April 2017, Soules rear-ended a man on a tractor who later died. He was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal car crash, according to the Des Moines Register. The outlet reported in March that Soules was “appealing the Iowa Supreme Court’s recent decision not to consider the merits of the charge against him.”
11. Jesse Palmer
Back in Season 5, the early, early days of the long-standing franchise, Jesse’s season was billed as the “most dramatic ever!” Even though by now much more dramatic events have happened on “The Bachelor,” Jesse did at one point call out the wrong woman’s name at the Rose Ceremony and had his best friend’s wife posing as a contestant.
