American Idol's theme this week was "Home," encouraging all of the singers to pick a song that represents where they come from. Again, many of the singers struggled to break out of their nervousness and to find their unique voice in the competition. A few, however, managed to shine on the Idol stage and win praise from judges Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban.
Jena Irene, a Michigan native, sang KT Tunstall’s “Suddenly I See.” Irene left her piano behind this week and appeared to want to show a more energetic side of herself. Connick, Urban and Lopez all enjoyed the tone of her voice, but had differing opinions on the quality of her overall performance.
Representing New Hampshire, Alex Preston sang “I Don’t Wanna Be” by Gavin DeGraw. Both Lopez and Urban were underwhelmed, citing a bad arrangement choice and instability, respectively. Connick, for...

The "American Idol" theme for the Top 12 is "Home." They should have to sing songs with their home state or city in the title -- "Sweet Home Alabama" would get a lot of play.
1. Jena Irene, "Suddenly I See," KT Tunstall
Nice choice for her tone of voice and the peppiness is fun, though the background is giving us a seizure. Also, we're disappointed that on "you can see she's a beautiful girl, she's a beautiful girl" that Jena didn't do the little minor run down on the second "girl." But it was a good start. No real missteps, but also not something that blew the roof off. A little blah. She could've done more with it, which is then exactly what Harry Connick Jr. says. For sure.
2. Alex Preston, "I Don't Wanna Be," Gavin DeGraw
This is good, we like Alex's voice. However, he really needs to work on...

Grab your favorite frat boy, because Dave Matthews Band is relevant again! Dave and the rest of the guys have kick-started a new Chicago music festival called the Dave Matthews Band Caravan.
The three-day event will take place in an undeveloped community on the south side of Chicago, right on the lake. You can only get three-day passes, which cost between $195 and $825... which will get you the VIP package. You know, for the J.Crew set.
Okay, so we're teasing a bit, but in all honesty, the lineup is pretty amazing. We're strongly considering tie-dying our favorite polo shirt, popping the collar, and hitting Chi-town with a few cases of Fat Tire. Here's the full list, from the press release:

Happythankyoumoreplease is the winsome directorial debut of Josh Radnor, who also wrote and starred in this ensemble comedy that drew resounding praise at 2010′s Sundance Film Festival, taking home an Audience Award. I recently had the chance to see this feature that proudly wears its heart on its sleeve, and instantly took to the film’s warm demeanor, vibrant characters and irresistible soundtrack. (Read my full review here.)
Shortly after Happythankyoumoreplease hit theaters, I had the chance to speak with Radnor, who proved to be as affable and loquacious as the character he plays on How I Met Your Mother. What began as an interview about his filmmaking process soon gave way to an intense conversation, in which we discussed the current trend toward cinematic cynicism and the state of film criticism. With so much to report, I’ve opted to break our interview into two parts.
