Loki: Hot Toys Unveils "God Loki" Figure, Offering Detailed Look At New Costume From Season 2 Finale
In the closing moments of Loki's season 2 finale, the God of Mischief destroyed the Temporal Loom and created a new, endless Multiverse which he sits at the centre of.
We're sure "God Loki" will eventually return, particularly with Kang gearing up to embark on a Multiversal War and Incursions destroying many of these new realities. While powering up to replace the Loom, Loki's costume underwent a startling transformation, and our best look yet at that comes in the form of a new 1/6th scale Hot Toys action figure.
Two versions will be available; a limited edition with rooted hair, and another with a traditional head sculpt.
"Exquisitely crafted based on the screen appearance of Tom Hiddleston as God Loki in the finale, the figure features a newly developed head sculpt with separate rolling eyeballs," reads the official product description. "The fabric costume has been finely tailored to match Loki's on-screen appearance,...

‘Loki’ Episode ‘Glorious Purpose’ Nominated for Best Dramatic Presentation Amongst Strong Contenders
Last year, Marvel Studios faced criticism and low box office numbers with two out of three major projects flopping both financially and critically. However, ‘Loki’ came back strong with its second season, earning praise from fans and critics alike as one of MCU’s best recent releases.
The show not only delivered an enjoyable experience but also wrapped up Loki’s character arc well while laying the groundwork for future Multiverse Saga developments. It’s no surprise that ‘Loki’ has garnered multiple award nominations, including this year’s Hugo Awards, known for honoring outstanding science fiction and fantasy works.
Loki’s last episode, ‘Glorious Purpose,’ was nominated for Best Dramatic Presentation and will have some strong competition.

‘Loki’ Episode ‘Glorious Purpose’ Nominated for Best Dramatic Presentation Against Tough Competition
Marvel Studios faced fan backlash and record low-box office results last year, with 2 out of 3 major projects failing both when it comes to earnings and critical reception, but not all was bad. ‘Loki’ returned with the second season and the show was highly praised by fans and critics alike, being the best project that the MCU has released in recent time.
The show was not only extremely enjoyable and ended Loki’s character development on a high note, it also set up some pretty grand implications for the continuation of the Multiverse Saga. It’s no wonder then that the show has been nominated for several awards, including this year’s Hugo award. The Hugo Awards are prestigious awards given annually for the best science fiction or fantasy works and achievements. They are named after Hugo Gernsback, the founder of the pioneering science fiction magazine ‘Amazing Stories.’

In a recent interview, Loki Season 2 writer Eric Martin responded to those who reacted negatively to the show's newest season, and of the MCU at large.
Summer 2023 saw the long-awaited Disney+ series Secret Invasion disappoint both fans and critics, becoming the McU's first show and third project to receive a "Rotten" score on Rotten Tomatoes. As such, some fans feared that the McU's next project, Loki Season 2, would see a similar fate.

Loki head writer Eric Martin confirmed a fan theory about the MCU show's Season 2 ending on Disney+.
Tom Hiddleston's titular antihero made the biggest sacrifice of his 12-year MCU tenure in the Loki Season 2 finale, taking on the duty of guarding the Sacred Timeline to keep He Who Remains at bay.
Hiddleston even admitted that his character's moment in the finale "was wholly appropriate and... very moving," with Loki now holding a place as one of the most important figures across the entire Multiverse with this new job.

According to Deadline, Marvel Studios has tapped Michael Waldron to write Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. This places the Loki creator as the man who will bring the Multiverse Saga to a close, as he’s already attached to write Avengers: Secret Wars as well.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty has been through a number of major changes this month. Jeff Loveless (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania) was originally set to pen the screenplay, but it was announced two weeks ago that he was no longer attached to the project; Then, just one day later, Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings) stepped down as director. With Michael Waldron handling the writing side of both The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, there have been rumours that Marvel is looking for a director to helm both movies.

Spoiler Alert: This story includes discussion of major plot developments on “Loki,” which is currently streaming on Disney+.
Roughly 20 minutes after the news broke that the 118-day SAG-AFTRA strike had concluded, the first email I received from an actor’s publicist was for Ke Huy Quan. That’s how enthusiastic the recent Oscar-winning star of “Everything Everywhere All at Once” was to talk about his role on “Loki,” the Marvel Studios series for Disney+ that just wrapped up its second season. When he signs on to our Zoom chat for the interview, his face is beaming.
“I’ve waited a long time to talk about ‘Loki,’” he says. “Like, talking to you right now gives me a lot of joy.”
Quan plays Ouroboros, or “Ob,” the head (and seemingly the sole employee) of the Repairs and Advancement Department of the Time Variance Authority — basically, the one person responsible for keeping the Tva’s machinery running.

Major Spoilers for Loki season 2 finale. Well over a decade after Loki’s introduction in Thor, the Asgardian’s tale has come to an end… or has it?
The recent finale of Loki found the character destroying the Time Loom and rejuvenating the dying branches into a new structure resembling Yggdrasil. He then accepts his role as God Loki, overseeing all the branches in solitude at the end of time. Loki head writer Eric Martin spoke with Deadline about the character’s new role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the road it took to bring him there.
“Going into Season 2, it felt like an opportunity to bring gravity to the series to step up a level, because we marched up the line and got to the man behind the curtain and the stakes got extremely high at the end of the season. Let’s keep climbing. Let’s keep building that,...

Spoiler Alert: This post contains details from the Season 2 finale of Loki.
The Season 2 finale of Loki wove together more than a decade of character development for Tom Hiddleston’s titular character.
As the episodes title indicates, the God of Mischief finally fulfills his glorious purpose by taking on the ultimate burden in order to save his friends, as well as everyone who has ever existed.
When Loki realizes that the Temporal Loom will never be able to safely hold all the branches of time, it doesn’t take long for him to understand what he must do. The final moments of the episode see Loki using his own powers to revive and hold together all the branches of time at the citadel at the end of time.
He is no longer just the God of Mischief. He is the God of Stories … his own and everyone else’s.

For the past few months, I’ve been talking with some of my friends and colleagues about a radical idea that’s been bouncing around in my head that I haven’t been able to shake: The only way Marvel Studios can save the MCU is to destroy it.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the season 2 finale of "Loki."
Burdened with glorious purpose, indeed. The messy, frantic, but constantly entertaining second season of "Loki" came to a thrilling close last night ... and probably not in a way that anyone could've expected. After spending almost an entire season building up the importance of Victor Timely (Jonathan Majors) and emphasizing their mission to fix the finicky temporal loom, the finale all but threw those red herrings out the window in favor of a much more character-focused and deeply satisfying conclusion to Loki's (Tom Hiddleston) emotional quest to find meaning. After realizing that he could opt for another way around He Who Remains' false dichotomy from last season's cliffhanger, which suggested that either the timelines remain under the Time Variance Authority's prune-happy control forever or devolve into complete and utter chaos, Loki made the ultimate sacrifice to essentially become the loom himself.

You may recall that the first ever episode of Loki was called “Glorious Purpose”, and so is the last, coming full circle as the God of Mischief finally evolves into the God of Stories. For everyone else, the possibilities are now infinite, but for Loki there is now just one life to lead: sat upon a throne, just as he once coveted, alone forever. I am not okay.
For all the predictions we threw around about how this series would end, I doubt many saw all this coming, and it feels both refreshing and heartbreaking. The episode does, however, explore some of the other directions the story could have gone, giving Loki the opportunity to kill Sylvie or somehow succeed in fixing the loom. It also includes a rather expected reveal that He Who Remains has been playing 5D chess with Loki the entire season, but...

Eric Martin, head writer of Loki Season 2, discussed the premiere’s unique conversation between Loki, Mobius, and O.B. and whether it disregards what was explained in Avengers: Endgame.
In 2019’s mega-hit blockbuster Avengers: Endgame, the titular team of heroes travel through time to various points in their history. It’s firmly established early on in the movie that whatever the characters do in the past cannot affect the present.
This concept of branching timelines was expanded upon in a big way in Marvel’s Disney+ show Loki, which took the time-travel ball and ran with it. In the series’ second season premiere, the Asgardian mischief maker had begun to slip through time uncontrollably, sending him searching for answers.

According to his timeline, Quan likely filmed the show while his name was being thrown around for award consideration (he would eventually go on to win the Best Supporting Actor Oscar). "The buzz was picking up on 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' — that was happening as we were shooting — and then when we were in post-production, he had won an Academy Award," Wright told the outlet, adding, "The timing was crazy."

Spoiler Alert: This story involves discussion of major plot developments in Season 2, Episode 4 of “Loki,” currently streaming on Disney+.
When Eric Martin started writing the Season 1 finale of “Loki” (along with then-head writer Michael Waldron), he already had a sense that the Marvel Studios show was going to continue for a second season.
“There were definitely rumblings of that while we were still in the writers room of Season 1,” Martin says. “It didn’t become a sure thing until we were into Covid.”
During the forced pandemic hiatus — Martin estimates that they’d filmed “about a third of Season 1” before the shutdown — Martin says that Marvel Studios executive Kevin Wright approached him about becoming the head writer for Season 2. “And we then started really getting down to business about where to take the next half of the story.”
That effort reached a serious turning point in this week’s episode,...

‘Loki’ Head Writer Eric Martin Talks Episode Four’s Explosive Ending: “There’s Meaning in All of It”
[This story contains spoilers for Loki season two, episode four, “Heart of the Tva.”]
If Ke Huy Quan’s Ouroboros is the glue that holds the Tva together, then Loki season two head writer Eric Martin is the Ouroboros of the entire Loki enterprise.
Martin’s journey began in grad school when he befriended future Loki creator, Michael Waldron. The duo first cut their teeth as production assistants on Rick and Morty and Community before reuniting a number of years later as full-fledged writers on Waldron’s stellar yet criminally underseen Starz wrestling drama, Heels. Once they wrapped up their responsibilities on Heels, the duo jumped ship to Loki season one, helming what many consider to be the MCU’s finest outing on Disney+.
The lesser known part of the story is that Martin actually had a lot more to do with season one than his staff writer credit implies. During the later stages, Waldron...

Loki Season 2 Episode 4
“I promise you this will make sense.” Loki says those words to Sylvie, who just watched him prune another Loki in front of her. But Tom Hiddleston delivers the lines directly at the camera, as if speaking directly to the viewers.
And it is a necessary word of comfort, because Loki season two blows things up in a big way, perhaps even more so than the season one finale. Written by Eric Martin and Kathryn Blair and directed by showrunners Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson, “Heart of the Tva” features a lot of running around and shouting technobabble, but it feels more earned than the other times its happened in the previous two episodes.
Even before Victor Timely moves toward the temporal loom and promptly explodes (“Time to recast Kang?” many internet commenters wondered at once), there’s a sense of finality to the episode,...

[This story contains spoilers for Loki season two, episode three, “1893.”]
When Loki executive producer Kevin R. Wright began to assemble his creative team for the hit Disney+ series’ second season, he knew that production designer Kasra Farahani was an absolute necessity.
Before crafting the series’ signature look in seasons one and two, Farahani climbed the ranks of Marvel Studios as an art director and a concept artist on various MCU projects such as Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Black Panther. He’d even done some writing and directing in between Marvel gigs, so Wright first invited him to join Eric Martin’s writers’ room as a staff writer. That additional role on the show eventually led to a third assignment as director of season two’s third episode, “1893,” which allowed Farahani to design the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago and introduce this season’s highly anticipated Kang variant, Victor Timely (Jonathan Majors...

Actor Tom Hiddleston is making his return as Loki in the second season of his eponymous show ‘Loki S2’. This time, the Norse God of Mischief has found himself a new family with the Time Variance Authority (Tva).
Speaking on this, the ‘Crimson Peak’ actor said: “One of the things we talked about is how Loki always struggled with family in the MCU, but he’s found a new family in the Tva, and he’s found, in its breakdown, an understanding of himself.”
He further added: “Having his sense of self opened up, broken down, and rebuilt by Mobius and his colleagues at the Tva, and also his connection with Sylvie, there’s a new capacity, a new awareness to make connections with other people.”
“He realises that those connections are all that matter in the end, and they’re connections that he wants to preserve. But now the stakes are higher.

The “Loki” Season 2 premiere opened to solid viewership numbers in its first three days of availability.
According to Disney, the second season launch of the Marvel Studios series pulled in 10.9 million views in its first three days of availability, with the premiere debuting on Oct. 5. A view is defined as total stream time divided by runtime, a measure both Disney and Netflix have recently embraced.
Streamers have slowly begin to roll out more in-depth viewership information for their titles. Recently, Disney announced that the film “Elemental” pulled in 26.4 million views in its first five days on Disney+, while the live-action “Little Mermaid” pulled in 16 million in the same timeframe. After Loki’s amiga Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) opted to kill He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) spurring multiple nefarious versions of the newbie villain across several timelines, Loki was sent back to where it all started: the bureaucratic, office grind of the Tva — but a very different one; one where his new best friend Mobius (Owen Wilson) doesn’t recognize him. Out of touch with his soulmate, Loki is trying to find his way back to her. However, like Chicken Little, he’s trying to tell everybody that the sky is falling; that Kang the Conqueror is coming their way. We talk with Marvel executive and Loki season 2 EP Kevin Wright, who is with the series from start to finish, script to post, about the daunting task of living up to what was a spectacular season one.

It's not out of line to wonder whether we've hit an inflection point in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. How many times can a franchise dangle that tantalizing football in front of its fans, coax countless viewers to build up a full head of steam in the hopes of having their sky-high expectations met again and again, and then snatch that prize away right at the last second? Recent history suggests that a shared universe built primarily on the promise of the next big thing to come does, in fact, have an expiration date -- or, at the very least, a moment of truth where over a decade of goodwill finally threatens to run out. After a series of low points poked several glaring holes in the McU's once-impenetrable armor, from divisive entries like "Eternals" and "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" to unmistakable misfires such as "Thor: Love and Thunder,...

In Doctor Who, the phrase “wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff” has become synonymous with both the nature of time itself — short version: time is a nonlinear mess — and how woefully inadequate our layperson’s vocabulary is when it comes to blathering about time.
Whether you generally understand the intricacies of time and time travel but can’t formally express them, or your head immediately starts to explode the second somebody mentions killing Baby Hitler, it’s simpler to attribute temporal circumstances to “wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff” than pretend you’re Neil deGrasse Tyson.
The handiness of the phrase came to mind more than a few times while I watched the second season of Disney+’s Loki, on which the creative team has absolutely succeeded in using Marvel’s money to make a wildly expensive season of Doctor Who featuring Tom Hiddleston as the Doctor. Marvel’s multiverse has been turning out variants of all shapes and sizes over the last several years. But could anything have prepared us for Loki: The Hero?
In Season 2 of the MCU’s most popular Disney+ series “Loki,” Tom Hiddleston’s Norse God of Mischief is all about saving his new friends at the Time Variance Authority from annihilation, along with billions who reside on ever multiplying timelines throughout the cosmos. Hiddleston, who’s played one of the most malign forces in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a dozen years, convinces us of Loki’s newfound altruism, only referencing his evil past in soul-searching conversations and using it as a threat when doing good cop/bad cop routines with his new best bud, Tva functionary Mobius (Owen Wilson).
This makeover should not work but it does, along with everything else in the first four episodes of Season 2’s six shown to critics.

Loki has been on a journey. From would-be royal assassin and usurper, to attempted Earth conqueror, to redemption, to death, to that death turning out to be fake, to a second redemptive arc, to actual death, all the way back to attempted Earth conqueror again, and then, finally, along one last redemptive arc in season one of the Disney+ series, Loki.
But there is always a challenge when a character shifts from villain to antihero to straight-up hero. Part of Loki’s appeal has always been that he is a loveable bastard. So now that Loki has gone full hero, where is there for him to go next?
“Loki has clearly changed over the course of that first season, and he knows he’s changed,” says Kevin Wright, co-executive producer on Loki seasons one and two.

Of the eight live-action TV shows that Marvel Studios has produced for Disney+ to date, only one has concluded with the explicit promise of a second season: That would be “Loki,” the outrageously entertaining series about Tom Hiddleston’s god of mischief and his metaphysical exploits in the Time Variance Authority.
It turns out, those plans were already in the works before a second of “Loki” had ever streamed. As executive producer Kevin Wright explains to Variety, he and Hiddleston began talking about Season 2 of the show while in production on the third episode of Season 1.
“As we were shooting the ‘Lamentis’ episode, Tom and I started having lots of conversations about how this world could build out, how we dive deeper into it,” he says. “A large part of what we wanted to do was not trying to repeat ourselves, and not try to play the hits.” At the same time,...

This year we watched two movies and one Disney+ show set in the Marvel Cinematic Unvierse. Now, we’re almost in the last quarter of 2023, and we’re looking forward to watching ‘Loki’ Season 2 on Disney+ and ‘The Marvels’ on the big screen. Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief returns in less than a week in the only live-action MCU series that was renewed for Season 2 so far.
‘Loki’ Season 1 ended with the death of Nathaniel Richards, aka He Who Remains, which opened the doors of the Multiverse and, therefore, set up the events of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,’ and the central storyline of the Multiverse Saga will now continue to unfold in ‘Loki’ Season 2 as we’re stepping towards the culmination of the saga in ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.’

The second season of the Disney+ Marvel series "Loki" is on the way, and in honor of the God of Mischief's (Tom Hiddleston) return to the small screen, "Loki" season 1 is out on Blu-ray. There are a lot of reasons to do a rewatch of the best of the Marvel Disney+ shows so far. We love Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson (Mobius M. Mobius) together. We love how Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) is both clearly a Loki and also a very separate and different person from Loki Prime because of her experiences. It also might be because we need to see Alligator Loki and Throg (Frog Thor) again.
While Alligator Loki got to wear the horns and be a presence on screen for a bit, we only got a very tiny blink-and-you'll-miss-it glimpse of Throg in the fifth episode as the camera moves through the Void. He's stuck in a...

“Loki” Season 2 is following in the footsteps of the “Star Wars” Disney+ series “Ahsoka,” setting a much more reasonable release time for new episodes on the streaming service. In contrast to the midnight drops of past Disney+ original series — including the major Marvel shows — new episodes of “Loki” Season 2 will be released at 6 p.m. Pt, the same time new episodes of “Ahsoka” hit the streamer.
