When pregnant with oldest child Brigette Lundy-Paine (now a film actor in NY), Lundy used her sign language skills in an audition for Stephen Herek, who was casting Mr. Holland's Opus (1995) and won the role of Mother of Deaf Child. Lundy's scene was written to be a pivotal moment in the film when Glenne Headly sees a mother in the park signing with her daughter, befriends her, and is introduced to the world of sign language. The scene was scheduled to be shot in July 1994, when Lundy was 8 months pregnant. Unfortunately, another scene ran over-schedule that day, and her scene was never shot.
