Soap alum Jacob Young is set to star in and co-direct “Murder Between Friends,” an independent film about a legendary TV star who tries to solve a murder that occurred at her countryside estate. Joan Collins leads the cast, which also includes “Days of our Lives” alum Nadia Bjorlin (ex-Chloe Lane).
“It’s very Agatha Christie, sort of ‘Knives Out’ without having a hundred million dollars to shoot it, but still will be a lovely film nonetheless,” Young told Michael Fairman TV last month while out promoting another film he recently starred in called “Four For Fun.” Jason Cook directed that film, which also stars Brytni Sarpi.
Other actors set to appear in “Murder Between Friends” include British soap star Toby-Alexander Smith, Jim Borstelmann, Espen Hatleskog and Czech actress Hana Vagnerová. “All My Children” alum Trent Garrett (ex-Asher Pike) is reportedly set to co-direct alongside Young, with the film based...

The mid 1990s were a wild ride for fans of Kevin Costner. Lawrence Kasdan's 1994 film "Wyatt Earp," often seen as the longer, more turgid version of "Tombstone," was not entirely well-received and lost a boatload of money. A down! He followed it that same year with an intimate veteran drama called "The War," opposite a young Elijah Wood, who received a good deal of praise for his performance. An up! He then made, ahem, a splash with the overwrought and notoriously expensive "Waterworld" in the summer of 1995. "Waterworld," more or less a "Road Warrior" knock-off but at sea, was the most expensive film in history up the that point. It ended up breaking even. It was a blot on Costner's career. A down! Luckily, he chased "Waterworld" with the acclaimed golf romcom "Tin Cup" in 1996. An up!

Exclusive: Alyssa Milano (Brazen), Virginia Madsen (Sideways), Gina Torres (9-1-1: Lone Star) and Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us) have signed on for roles in the feature-length anthology Give Me an A, which links together 15 short films, in response to the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade.
The film currently in post-production will have been completed within two months from the date of Roe’s overturning — which eliminated the longstanding constitutional right to abortion — in an effort to ensure this is a response and not a delayed reaction. The creators, cast and crew have made a significant effort to expedite the process in order to start a conversation with audiences about the importance of bodily autonomy and address the dysfunction of a democracy that is not protecting the needs of a majority of the population. “Maggie” has been canceled after its first season at Hulu, Variety has learned exclusively.
The single-camera comedy was ordered to series at ABC in May 2021, though parent company Disney switched it from the broadcaster to a streaming home on Hulu in January 2022 ahead of its summer premiere.
The series was based on the 2019 short film of the same name by Tim Curcio. Rebecca Rittenhouse starred in the title role, a woman navigating the world of dating as a psychic. Maggie’s gift allows her to see into the future of her friends, parents, clients and random people on the street. But when she begins to see glimpses of her own destiny after meeting an unexpected stranger, her romantic life suddenly gets a lot more complicated as she attempts to let herself fall in love while thinking she knows how it will end.

Disney Channel’s comedy-drama “Andi Mack” will end after three seasons, the network said on Wednesday.
The series will return for its final episodes on June 21 and air its series finale on July 26.
“‘Andi Mack’ was a labor of love for a room of impassioned, inventive writers, a talented and dedicated crew, and an extraordinary, miraculous cast who inspired us all. We had the honor of breaking a lot of new ground for Disney Channel,” said creator and executive producer Terri Minsky. “We were its first serialized show, its first series centered around an Asian American family, and its first to feature an LGBTQ character who spoke the words ‘I’m gay.’ But the best part of making ‘Andi Mack’ was our audience, who let us know we mattered to them. The series finale is for them.

[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from the Season 2 premiere of “Andi Mack.”]
In its second season premiere, “Andi Mack” goes straight for the heart and holds nothing back. Disney Channel announced this week that one of its characters would begin a journey to discovering his identity as a gay individual, and it doubled the runtime for the episode to give space to properly explore this storyline alongside the main plot.
It was reported that creator Terri Minsky had consulted with child development experts, as well as Common Sense Media, GLAAD, and Pflag in order to make sure the story be told in a manner that was both respectful and appropriate to the age group. This depth of care shows because how Cyrus (Joshua Rash) slowly begins to realize he’s gay and discusses this with his friend Buffy (Sofia Wylie) is note-perfect in many ways. “Andi Mack” has always had a deft hand balancing the fun of a kids show with heartfelt stories that actually feel genuine,...

The eternal war isn’t a battle one can easily walk away from. That’s a truth that dawns on Selene (Kate Beckinsale) in today’s all-new clip for Underworld: Blood Wars.
Hailing from Games Radar, here we see Beckinsale’s ancient hero having a heated exchange with Theo James’ David, who informs our kick-ass protagonist that her wayward daughter Eve has become a target for the Lycans, who want nothing more than to use her precious blood to empower their newfound leader, Marius. Selene may be finished with this war, but it’s certainly not finished with her.
Also starring Tobias Menzies, Trent Garrett, Lara Pulver, Clementine Nicholson, Bradley James and Game of Thrones alum Charles Dance, Underworld: Blood Wars represents the first entry in the cult franchise to be directed by Anna Foerster. A change of guard is arguably the one thing that the series was crying out for,...

I previously called Underworld: Blood Wars "Game of Thrones with vampires" due to its cast but we're getting close to parody with Tywin Lannister telling Selene to go North towards a wall of ice. Kate Beckinsale is back for a fifth time as the Lycan hunter, this time directed by Anna Foerster. It's set to hit theaters on January 6, 2017 and Donna Dickens and I agree we'll see it no matter how "bad" it is. It's still good trashy fun. If I'm being honest, I don't even remember what happened in the last one but I'm sure they'll give a quick catch-up at the beginning of this one anyway. Scott Speedman is not reprising his role as Michael this time; instead they've recast him with Trent Garrett. Underworld: Blood Wars also stars Game of Thrones actors Charles Dance and Tobias Menzies as well as Sherlock’s Irene Adler, Lara Pulver, and Theo James.

Your favorite Screen Gems heroines are back! Well, they will be in January! No, not in the same movie. It's the last installment for one of them, though. Yet we're still holding out hope for the eventual Alice vs. Selene movie. For now, we'll just watch both of these new trailers at the same time and pretend we're seeing a crossover. You can do the same or check them out separately and enjoy their respective kick-ass women kicking serious butt. Underworld: Blood Wars First up is Selene, once again played by Kate Beckinsale and once again fighting vampires and werewolves (Lycans), hoping to finally finish the eternal war between the two clans. Joining her again are Charles Dance and Theo James, while Trent Garrett has taken over the role...

"Tell your Marius - I'm coming for him." Screen Gems has released the second trailer for Underworld: Blood Wars, the fifth movie in the Underworld series first started in 2003 with the vampire action movie starring Kate Beckinsale. This has arrived online after premiering at the New York Comic-Con. Beckinsale is back, again, to play vampire death dealer Selene fighting to finally, hopefully, end the eternal war between the Lycan clan and Vampire faction. Also starring Lara Pulver, Theo James, Charles Dance, Tobias Menzies & Trent Garrett. Selene was the star of the first two films, then disappeared until Underworld: Awakening. I wasn't excited for this when the first trailer hit, and I'm not more interested now. Have fun. "...in 'Underworld: Awakening', 'Selene' discovers the 'Lycans' (werewolves), have been posing as humans in order to trick world governments into believing they are extinct, intending to use 'Eve' to perfect their race.
"Selene and 'Sebastian' team up to stop them and save Eve, killing the 'Super Lycan', while Eve kills 'Lane', the Lycan doctor that held her.
"They return and find Corvin’s tank empty. Selene states that the world will be hunting Corvin just as they hunted Eve..."

For aeons, the Lycans and the Vampires have waged war with one another – a seemingly eternal battle that has, to date, fuelled four tentpole installments in the Underworld franchise. That latest entry in Screen Gems’ cult series, Awakening, didn’t fare terribly well with critics or fans, hence why the release of next year’s Underworld: Blood Wars is being held up as a return to form.
At least, that’s the idea. Acting as the directorial debut of franchise newcomer Anna Foerster, Blood Wars heralds the return of Kate Beckinsale as Selene, the age-old Vampire Death Dealer who wages war with just about everyone in sight in today’s first-look trailer. Unless you’ve done your homework on the Underworld lore, you’d be forgiven for feeling a little confused coming out of the sizzle reel, but it does tee up an intriguing dynamic between Beckinsale’s hardened lead...

Kate Beckinsale’s triumphant return as Selene has been postponed, now that Screen Gems has opted to nudge Underworld: Blood Wars back three months and into 2017.
Once on course to scurry into theaters in time for October 14, 2016, the horror sequel (franchise revival?) has now been delayed until January 6, 2017.
Beckinsale is in line to return as the famed Vampire Death Dealer for the franchise’s fifth installment, rubbing shoulders with Divergent breakout Theo James as they navigate the historic battle between vampires and werewolves. Last time we saw the actress take point as the series’ badass lead she had reached the ripe old age of 632. That was Underworld: Awakening in 2012, though Screen Gems will surely be aiming for a more effective sequel in time for 2017.
This time around, it is Anna Foerster who will call the shots from behind the lens. Best known for helming episodes of Criminal Minds and Outlander,...

Variety has learned that Screen Gems & Lakeshore Entertainment have decided to shift their upcoming horror sequel Underworld: Blood Wars from its October 2016 release date to January 6, 2017. The film was previously slated to release October 14 of this year, but considering how crowded October already is with the releases of The Girl On The Train (October 7), The Accountant (October 14), Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (October 21), & Inferno (October 28) taking up the four big weekends, it's not all that surprising the Anna Foerster-directed sequel decided to move to a month where the franchise has historically performed quite well. It will now open the same day as the Tom Cruise-starrer Mena and Amityville: The Awakening. Kate Beckinsale (Love & Friendship) will reprise her role as the Vampire Death Dealer Selene and Theo James (Divergent) will return as David. They'll be joined by Trent Garrett (All My Children), who is taking over the role of Michael Corvin from Scott Speedman,...

Joe Manganiello is excited about the new season of True Blood. “Oh my god, I can’t f—ing wait. The fact that they’re basically busy casting an entire new pack of werewolves is unbelievable. There’s going to be like a werewolf show within the show this year, so I’m like a kid about it!” I'm hoping that means a lot of were-booty onscreen.
