Although never named in any entries of the franchise, the deadly aliens in the "Predator" series are a species called the Yautja (pronounced "Yah-oot-Cha"). The films themselves do little to explain where they come from and what their civilization might be like. What little we know is based on seeing a few of them as intergalactic big-game trophy hunters, but is this true of their entire society? Is their civilization centered around the hunt? Or are the Predators we've seen pariahs, the Yautja equivalent to big-game trophy hunters like Walter Palmer, widely criticized for his participation in the controversial killing of both Cecil the lion and a protected ram in Mongolia?
In 2010's "Predators," Royce (Adrien Brody) quotes Hemingway, "Certainly there is no hunting like the hunting of man and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never really care for anything else thereafter." Like us,...

After nearly 35 years, the "Predator" franchise is still going strong. Despite a fair share of disappointment during its seven-film (and counting) run, every decade produces a strong chapter that reinvigorates interest in the mysterious alien hunters. John McTiernan's muscle-bound 1987 creature feature starring Arnold Schwarzenegger remains the best. Still, more recent offerings like Nimród Antal's 2010 sequel "Predators" and Dan Trachtenberg's 2022 prequel "Prey" have closed the gap and provided hope for future entries.
Delightfully R-rated, the "Predator" series follows a group of elite alien warriors, brought to life with incredible special effects, who venture to different planets to test themselves against the best killers they can find. Curiously, none of the films have allowed a Predator to claim victory over their most formidable foes, though they do enjoy minor victories that make way for some nasty spine-ripping action. To date, we've seen Predator eliminate its victims in various ways...

Exclusive: Deadline hears that Jake Busey has boarded Joel Souza’s recently restored production of Rust in Montana at the Yellowstone Film Ranch.
In the film produced and starring Alec Baldwin, Busey will play the role of Drum Parker.
The logline for Rust, written by Souza, based on a story developed by the director and Baldwin: A 13-year-old boy, left to fend for himself and his younger brother following the death of their parents in 1880s Kansas, is taken on a violent, harrowing journey to old Mexico by his long estranged grandfather after he’s sentenced to hang for the accidental killing of a local rancher.
Patrick Scott McDermott (Chicago Med, South Side) is playing the role of Lucas Hollister in the film. Frances Fisher also stars.
The film restarted production last week following the October 2021 death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins after a prop gun held by Baldwin discharged during...

With the new Predator movie Prey being released through the Hulu streaming service earlier this month, a lot of people have been talking about the Predator franchise and revisiting the early movies. In the new episode of The Arrow in the Head Show, hosts John “The Arrow” Fallon and Lance Vlcek are getting in on the Predator action as well, looking back at the 1990 film Predator 2 (watch it Here). To find out what they had to say about Predator 2, check out the video embedded above!
Directed by Stephen Hopkins from a screenplay written by Jim Thomas and John Thomas, Predator 2 has the following synopsis:
Los Angeles is enduring a heat wave and a crime wave, so the pressure on police officer Michael Harrigan to solve a strange string of murders is mounting. Harrigan thinks the culprit can be found among the warring gangs and drug cartels, but...

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for every "Predator" movie -- including "Prey."
When you're in a "Predator" movie, things can get a little messy. For over 35 years, the intergalactic hunters have endured as one of the great movie monsters, hunting humans, animals, and even other iconic monsters with swift brutality. The species known as Yautja have appeared across five films and two spin-offs in all forms, upgrades, and mutations, with each dispensing their own violent pageantry of cannon firing, one on one combat, and spine ripping.
With the massive success of "Prey," let's take a look at some of the most memorable death scenes throughout the entire "Predator" franchise. There was a lot of death to sift through -- whether it's a beloved character who couldn't keep up or an antagonistic force facing the music. The only stipulation for this list is that, since the "Alien Vs. Predator" movies are included here,...

One of the fun little things Shane Black did to tie last year’s The Predator in with the franchise’s previous films was the casting of Jake Busey as a character named Sean Keyes, obviously the son of Gary Busey‘s character from Predator 2, Peter Keyes. It wasn’t just a wink-and-nod tribute to Jake’s real-life dad, […]...

I was 8 years old when I first saw Predator. My dad was good like that. He had no problem with me and my sister watching various classic actioners as long as we didn’t tell mum. He was fine with me dealing with the violence – he’d just insist that blood and gore was nothing more ‘strawberry jam’, thus negating the horror.
But, unlike Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Robocop or Commando, Predator was scary. Really, really scary. Alan Silvestri’s score and the sense of foreboding John McTiernan expertly crafted scared the living hell out of me and my sister. But we loved it. We’d never experienced anything like it.
When you’re a kid, you tend to think all movies are equal. It’s only when you get older that you find out the Ewoks were a cynical toy-selling ploy, or that Rocky IV was just a collection of MTV-style music videos.

As movie franchises go, the “Predator” films have an abundance of iconic, over-the-top, ridiculously quotable lines — way more than a normal film series. It’s likely due to the franchise’s semi-unusual combination of interesting science fiction, ’80s action movie machismo, and surprising willingness to be extremely campy. It results in movies full of lines that are absurd and yet perfectly reasonable when fighting an alien safari hunter that turns people’s skulls into trophies.
Here’s a rundown of 14 great, weird and goofy lines from “Predator,” “Predator 2,” and the newly released Shane Black movie “The Predator.”
“What’s the matter? The CIA got you pushing too many pencils?”
Everyone knows the shot of Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Dillon (Carl Weathers) greeting each other by grabbing hands and flexing their ridiculously big arms, but Dutch’s line making fun of Dillon for getting slightly soft thanks to his desk...

“Ten years ago, one of his kind stalked and eliminated an elite special forces crew in central America. There were two survivors. They indicated that when trapped, the creature activated a self-destruct device that destroyed enough rainforest to cover 300 city blocks.” That’s Peter Keyes (played by Gary Busey) in Predator 2, explaining the aftermath […]

We'll have to wait a little longer to see the return of one of the galaxy's most feared hunters in the new Predator movie.
Exhibitor Relations reports that 20th Century Fox will now release The Predator in theaters on on September 14th, 2018, moving several weeks from its previous August 3rd release date. Exhibitor Relations mentions that the new release date may be due to Fox wanting to get closer to the September 8th release date of New Line Cinema's 2017 It movie, which went on to bring in over $700 million worldwide.
In addition to The Predator, Exhibitor Relations reports that Fox also moved the release of Robert Rodriguez's Alita: Battle Angel from July 20th to December 21st.
The Predator was directed by Shane Black, who co-starred as the wisecracking Rick Hawkins in 1987's Predator. Black worked from a screenplay he co-wrote with Fred Dekker, who co-wrote The Monster Squad...
