“Mulan” is a famous Walt Disney animated feature film about the mythical Chinese woman warrior who pretends to be a male to replace his old father from the Emperor’s ruthless army conscription.
Mulan was first shown in June 1998 and earned $304 million box office figure worldwide ($121 million in Us). Ming-Na provided the character voice while Lea Salonga of the Philippines provided the singing voice. The film out-grossed the two Disney films – Hunchback of Notre Dame and Hercules. Despite the negative reactions from the film critics and some feminist groups, this animated movie has still won recognition from Annie Awards and the theme song “Reflections” had some nominations from Golden Globe awards.
The new “Mulan” stars Wei Zhao (Red Cliff, Painted Skin), Chen Kun and Jaycee Chan, son of Hongkong action superstar Jackie Chan and is directed by Jingle Ma with Wei Dong as co-director.
