The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Sophie Skelton of Outlander will be leading the cast of the UK murder mystery thriller Row, which is currently in pre-production and will begin filming in Scotland next month. Joining Skelton in the cast are Bella Dayne (Troy: Fall of a City), Akshay Khanna, and Mark Strepan (Before We Die).
Row will mark the feature debut of director Matthew Losasso and writer Nick Skaugen – and Skaugen has an acting role in the film as well. With all of her crew mates missing, presumed dead, she must try and piece together fractured memories of the ordeal to prove her innocence.
Skaugen is producing the film with line producer Matt Schichter. Losasso provided the following statement: “An immense ocean appears to stretch infinitely in all directions and yet on board the Valiant,...

Netflix's latest series will delve deep into Arthurian legends.
The streamer on Tuesday unveiled the full-length trailer for Cursed, and there's a lot to like.
Based on the New York Times bestselling book, Cursed is a re-imagination of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue, a young woman with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake.
After her mother's death, she finds an unexpected partner in Arthur, a humble mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword.
Over the course of her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther.
Cursed is a coming-of-age story whose themes are familiar to our own time: the obliteration of the natural world, religious terror, senseless war, and finding the courage to lead in the face of the impossible.

It’s fair to say that she’s earned her spot but at this moment it’s also just as fair to say that like so many others she’s going to have to keep on earning it. The epic story of the Trojan War is being retold in a new series at Netflix called Troy: Fall of a City. It looks like they are taking a Game of Thrones style approach to telling this legendary story.
The tale of the Trojan War has been told many times over the years, the most famous account is Homer's The Iliad. But, I'm sure many of you also remember Wolfgang Peterson’s Troy, which starred Brad Pitt. I think I enjoyed that film more than most people. It has some cool stuff in it.
Now, we have this new series which follows the story of when the prince of Troy, Paris, elopes with the queen of Sparta, Helen. Here's the synopsis:
An epic story of love and war, intrigue and betrayal. When Helen and Paris fall in love, they trigger a chain of events that threatens their families and the city of Troy.

Netflix is here to give Wolfgang Petersen a run for his money. The company and BBC One’s Trojan War epic “Troy: Fall Of A City” begins streaming next month on Netflix, and the official trailer has debuted promising tons of swords and sandals action. But will the show be a “Game of Thrones” success or another “Marco Polo” for Netflix? That’s surely the question on executives’ minds.
“Troy: Fall Of A City” centers on the love story between Helen and Paris, which triggers a chain of events that threatens their families and the city of Troy. Louis Hunter (“The Fosters”) and Bella Dayne (“Humans”) star in the lead roles, with David Threfall as King Priam of Troy and Frances O’Connor as Hecuba, Queen of Troy.
The epic series premiers on Netflix April 6.

All we can really say at the end of a first episode is whether or not it made us want to watch the second one. In this case, the answer is, with some slight reservations – yes,...

Writer of The Night Manager David Farr tells us about new drama Troy: Fall Of A City, starting this Saturday on BBC One...
It has to be noted that the Trojan War, though ripe for retellings, is a story that the majority of an audience will believe they already know. David Farr, writer of BBC One’s new Saturday night epic, would be one of the first to admit it. What makes Troy: Fall Of A City different, however, comes down to perspective. Whereas most tellings focus on the Greeks, Farr wanted to look at what the war must have been like for the Trojans.

Beginning with Paris’ discovery of his true heritage and love story with Helen of Troy, The Night Manager writer wanted to create something from Greek mythology that focused on character over spectacle.

Some exciting new UK drama and comedy commissions are making their way to TV over the next year or so…
We know, we know. You still have two episodes of Fargo season two before you can think about starting season three. You’ve already fallen behind on American Gods. Your planner memory is chock-a-block with Big Little Lies and that Oj Simpson thing and some Spanish prison series your workmate bullied you into recording. You’re struggling to make time for Twin Peaks. New Game Of Thrones is just around the corner. And guess what, Netflix UK have just added a whole new season of It’s Always Sunny, those sods. You need a list of new TV show recommendations like you need a hole in the head.

And yet, as long as they keep making them, we’ll keep recommending them.

HBO's limited series, Big Little Lies, was originally planned as a one season show. Once it proved a success, the premium cabler approached the novel's author about the possibility of a second season. While it is billed as a "limited event series" will John Ridley's Guerrilla TV show end after one season on Showtime, like the mini-series of yore? If it turns out to be a ratings grabber, will it be renewed for season two? Stay tuned.A love story, Guerrilla stars: Freida Pinto, Babou Ceesay, Idris Elba, Rory Kinnear, Patrick Gibson, Nathaniel Martello-White, Daniel Mays, Denise Gough, Brandon Scott, Zawe Ashton, Bella Dayne, Wunmi Mosaku, and Nicholas Pinnock. This time of year most everyone in the film world is talking about Oscar contenders, movies like Boyhood, Birdman, and Selma, which get more press each week as awards season marches on. However, I'm here today to provide a recommendation for a film you likely haven't heard of, which you can check out right now on VOD. The film is called Layover, and it is an impressive high-concept drama that took me completely by surprise. The first outing from writer-director Joshua Caldwell, Layover is very much in the vein of Richard Linklater's Before trilogy. Driven not by traditional plot mechanics but by the characters we see on screen and the way they interact with the world around them, Caldwell's primarily French-language film centers on a Parisian woman named Simone (Nathalie Fay) as she navigates the city of Los Angeles for a night after her connecting flight to Singapore is cancelled.

The prevailing optimism tells us that whenever the Hollywood studio system is underserving an audience or an entire genre, indie filmmakers will appear like the cavalry to fill the gaps. If that’s true (and it probably is), it’s fitting that Joshua Caldwell‘s Layover was released the same week Warner Bros. announced its next thousand years of DC superhero movies. It’s an antidote to spandex, a movie that won’t set the world on fire that comes at a time when we should be questioning the virtue of movies that set the world on fire. What it is, is a beautifully mature work from a promising young director that calmly and confidently explores themes like the inevitability of life’s pattern and the unnecessary transformative effect of random experiences. It also does all this while being far less pretentious than that sentence is. Simone (Nathalie Fay) lands in Los Angeles after flying from Paris...

As Richard Linklater has perhaps most famously shown, a lot can happen in one night. The hours between sunset and sunrise have inspired numerous filmmakers to tell stories about the drama, comedy, and romance that can unfold, and another tale of a nighttime connection has arrived with writer/director Joshua Caldwell's "Layover." Starring Nathalie Fay, Karl E. Landler, Bella Dayne, and Hal Ozsan, the story follows Simone, a young Parisian on the way to her wedding in Singapore, whose connecting flight in cancelled, forcing her to spend the night in Los Angeles. She heads into the city to meet a friend, but is soon left on her own downtown without a ride, where she meets a motorcyclist who takes her on an adventure that makes her question the future she has waiting for her. In the clip below, you witness the encounter that takes Simone through the streets of L.
