Previously on Glee, the Old New Directions returned to send the New New Directions off into the abyss while the Old New New Directions prepared to finally graduate from high school. April Rhodes and Holly Holiday also returned, to get soused up in the rafters of the theater and concoct shenanigans for saving the glee club one more time.
April and Holly are palling around the faculty lounge at McKinley, trying to figure out how to make the most out of a game of Kill, Marry, or Bone that prominently features Mr. Schue as the most bone-able contestant. Apparently Sue only hears the words “Will” and “Kill” because she scoots in there with a fire in her eyes and a crossbow strapped to her back. She’s happy to find her friend Holly hanging out; they’ve grown so close these last few days that they bought matching track suits...

Jay and Silent Bob talk to Australian fans in their new special
News
Casting has begun for someone to play Wonder Woman in the CW pilot Amazon (with a script written by faboo Young Avengers creator Allan Heinberg) and Deadline has the breakdown on the iconic heroine. I'm continuing to feel optimistic about this adaptation, even if the heroine is named Iris (Iris?) and her background doesn't exactly sound like Themyscira.
Did anyone watch and enjoy Call the Midwife? I don't mean that sarcastically, I never had the time to check it out. For you fans, the BBC announced there's a second season and a Christmas special in the works.
CNN has named former NBC chief Jeff Zucker — who's largely remembered as the man who took NBC from Friends to The Jay Leno Show — as president of the troubled news channel. The development has inspired speculation and suggestions on how...

It's the time of year where we learn the fate of our favorite shows and we get a glimpse into what pilots the networks are picking up for fall. I have always been amazed why certain shows like Jersey Shore receive a renewal, when others like Community sit in the wings.
It all comes down to the viewers themselves and an archaic ratings system (but I'm not going to go there.) Today, I'm going to discuss television viewers and the categories we all fit into. There are so many different types of viewers, I'm going to look at view specific "types," but feel free to add your own in the comments.
First, we have the "shipper" -- that is, someone who is desperate for a certain couple to get together, remain together, etc. These people are in it for the long haul. They love their specific couple and want anyone...

It can be difficult at times to be a reality TV show fan. The shows usually have total jerks on them, the people that you are rooting for always get eliminated first and you have to listen to at least half the contestants explain that they aren’t there to make friends.
But sometimes, the gods of reality TV smile down and last night on the premiere episode of Expedition Impossible was one of those nights. The awful girls who seemed like terrible sports and horrible teammates were the first ones to get eliminated, which is always a relief. Team Fab 3, who I am guessing several people here are rooting for, did a great job, coming in second place after the first leg and showing their strength in both the physical and the mental challenges.
Plus, there were a bunch of compelling teams that look like they will be interesting...

To Spartacus Or Not To Spartacus? That Is The Question!
One of the trickier, and more challenging, aspects of my job as editor of AfterElton.com is keeping the staff shackled deciding how much to cover a new show with gay or bisexual content, or when an existing show adds a gay or bisexual character. What's tricky about that exactly? Well, if you have to ask, clearly you didn't watch the Spartacus prequel, Gods of the Arena, which wrapped up last week.
If you had, you'd know I made a pretty big deal out of the fact that the prequel was going to give gay gladiator Barca (Antonio Te Maioha) a new love interest named Auctus. Or that after interviewing Spartacus co-creator Steven DeKnight, we decreed that Gods of the Arena might be gayer than the original and that there was a steamy gay sex scene you wouldn't want to miss.

Yes, it was the year of talkative gay teens and the cat-fighting stars of The A-List: New York. It might not seem like it, but 2010 was the year gay TV grew up. Well, at least part way.
Last year, AfterElton.com asked whether gay TV had matured, and this year that question seems to have been answered. More gay characters than ever graced our screens, and with the rising number of networks making reality shows, sitcoms, and dramas, there was something for everybody from daytime to primetime. In fact, it was so good that the gayest shows on broadcast dominated ratings, and cable series upped their game.
Sure, too many of the new shows with gay characters didn’t survive very long – Mercy, Trauma, and The Whole Truth. But most new shows don’t make it, and at least these characters were something different.
And, of course, there were scandals,...

To Full Frontal Or To Not Full Frontal
When I saw the first headline trumpeting news about Justin Long's inadvertent full frontal nude scene in his upcoming movie Going the Distance, I knew how the story would end before I even started it: namely, that particular scene would not end up in the movie. Americans as a whole are still supposedly way too squeamish to actually be confronted with a guy's junk onscreen, especially in a romantic comedy like Going the Distance.
Justin Long
Which doesn't make sense given that Nanette Burstein, Gtd's director, was supposedly so taken with Christina Applegate's shocked reaction to Justin's junk that she filmed the scene that way ten more times before eventually deciding not to use it. Or someone decided she shouldn't use it. Btw, imagine if this were a gay director who did that. Tongues would be wagging even though...

Talk about warts and all!
The good thing about reality TV is that it’s allowed viewers to see real-life gay and bisexual men in “real” situations. The bad thing about reality TV is that it’s allowed viewers to see real-life gay and bisexual mean in “real” situations.
Not really. We actually think it’s terrific that reality television has allowed viewers to see a much, much more diverse range of gay and bisexual men – racial and otherwise – than they ever see on scripted television.
And some of the most interesting things viewers have seen have been the relationships between two gay or bi men, whether they’re a couple, brothers, or just “frenemies.”
The bickering! The back-stabbing! At first glance, you might cringe and think, “Did they really have to show that? What will people think?”
But the real “reality” of reality television is that gay and bisexual...

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the fourth announced yesterday. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on CBS.
The Eye continued its reign as the #1-rated network this past season. Its procedurals (NCIS, CSI, Criminal Minds, Mentalist) dominate the marketplace, about half its sitcoms (The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men) are strong performers, and though it only launched four shows last Fall it turned two of them (Good Wife, NCIS: La) into major hits.
The network isn't resting on its laurels though as this year it launches three dramas and two comedies in the Fall, and the high-profile "Criminal Minds" spin-off mid-season. As a result some long running dramas like "Cold Case," "Ghost Whisperer" and "Numb3rs" along with its more recent and lesser performing sitcoms have all been given the axe.

Chicago – CBS announced their fall schedule today. While fans of canceled “Accidentally on Purpose,” “Cold Case,” “Gary Unmarried,” “Numb3rs,” “The Ghost Whisperer,” and “The New Adventures of Old Christine” may disagree, the big TV news of the week is that several of the top network’s biggest shows are moving. “Survivor” jumps to Wednesday nights, “The Big Bang Theory” moves to Thursdays, “CSI: NY” slides to Fridays, and “CSI: Miami” now goes down on Sundays.
As far as on-the-bubble renewals are concerned, CBS saved “Rules of Engagement” and “Medium”. The rest of their renewals were pretty obvious choices as the network continues to air many of the biggest hits on TV including the #1 drama (“NCIS”), #1 comedy (“Two and a Half Men”), #1 new series (“Undercover Boss”), #1 news magazine (“60 Minutes”), #1 new drama (“NCIS: Los Angeles”), and #1 scripted series for the 18-49 and 25-54 demos (“The Big Bang Theory”).

You Have No Idea How I Suffer For My, Um, Art
If there is any task I truly hate as the editor of AfterElton.com, it's having to deal with the Hot 100 every year. The sheer torture of having to check each and every one of your Hot 100 comments for the photos of hot guys you have posted is excruciating.
I can't tell you how much I dread having to— ooh, someone just a posted a new picture of Eddie Cibrian! And check out that one of Sendhil Ramamurthy! Smokin'!
Cibrian is Spanish for "sex on a stick"
Um, where was I? Anyway, I was going to share my Hot 100 pics this week, but it occurs to me that you guys are probably sick of hot guys by this point. In fact, I can sense you are hungering for something more intellectual, so today's column is devoted to a discussion of quantum mechanics.

Of Nerdists and Muppets, Broadway is booming, Carol Burnett is a goddess, plus Ken Paves shows why men don't wax (we're wimps).
Next month Reichen Lehmkuhl takes the stage in My Big Gay Italian Wedding, and we’ve just learned that a portion of every ticket sold will be going to Broadway Impact for marriage equality. Plus, Reichen isn’t terrible to look at.
TruTV has announced a development slate, and a few caught my eye. Rogue Society is a hidden camera show dedicated to exposing bigots, jerks and scammers through pranks. The Naked Office is a therapy show, but fairly literal to the title, and Exposed is from Ashton Kutcher, and involves public nudity as a social experiment.
We all know my disdain for the board game movies (except Candyland), so you’ll forgive my cynicism about Ridley Scott saying that Monopoly will be all about greed. All you...

If Caprica selected its episode titles the same way as The Amazing Race — with lines of dialogue spoken by characters/contestants — I'm pretty sure Barnabas wins this round: "Someone is going to die today, little girl. You choose."
Actually, that could be the tagline for this entire show. I mean, yes, Caprica is about two mourning fathers working out their grief on the whole world, but everything these two dudes do is basically just a reaction to Zoe or Tamara or Lacy. Daniel Graystone really ought to hire Rupert Giles as a life coach.
So, Daniel. What a tangled web he weaved when he stole that McP, eh? Not only is Amanda plotting her suicide while reading the news about the theft and murders, Vergis has gotten the Caprican Defense Department in bed and they've expedited their order of 100,000 Cylons. If Daniel can't deliver them by next week, they're going to yank the contract.

When thirteen-year-old Jordan Pious watched the very first season of CBS’ The Amazing Race, he knew he wanted to one day compete on the show. He also knew that he wanted his younger brother Daniel to race with him. Ironically, it turned out the more difficult challenge wasn’t actually getting on the race, but getting Daniel to compete.
But Jordan, now twenty two and a strategic consultant in Atlanta, Ga, prevailed, and two weeks ago viewers watched as the brothers set out to beat nine other teams in the 16th edition of The Amazing Race. The out Jordan recently talked with AfterElton.com about his relationship with his brother, how they differ from last season’s gay brother team Sam and Dan McMillen and much more.

Before the Ball dropped in Times Square to ring in 2009, the Great Gay Debate was underway in America. Prop. 8 was the catalyst, and in its wake everyone had an opinion on Glbt civil rights. We listened. We blogged. But someone else was watching too. Someone who sees you when you're sleeping, who knows when you're awake. Someone who knows when you've been bad or good — and keeps a list to prove it.

What?! It’s not enough that we spent the whole year providing you with insightful news and analysis on gay and bisexual entertainment – now we have to pick which 2009 projects we think best represented gay and bisexual men?!
Sorry, we’re getting a little Grinch-y around here come year-end.
But the fact is, gay and bisexual entertainment-related news is inexorably linked with the issue of visibility. If you know anything at all about the history of such entertainment, you know that it’s almost always been “controversial.” As passionate as the creators of these projects have always been, there’s been a similarly strong counter-pressure to keep these themes hidden or under wraps.
As a result, for a website like ours, covering the “news” of these projects inevitably becomes a question of championing the ones of quality (and giving the hook to those who don’t measure up, or that...

Last week was a big one for Oliver and Kyle of One Life To Live. They finally made it to the bedroom (candlelit, natch) and enjoyed some seriously romantic moments before getting interrupted by a gay bashing. No, not by Oltl sponsors – in this case coitus was interruptus by a thrashing inflicted on fellow Gay of the Week nominee Nick Chavez.
Well, you voted and it seems poor Nick took a beating twice: First by a gay-hating former Blues Clues host, and again in this poll. Kish also easily bested brothers Sam & Dan from The Amazing Race and only really had competition from Adam Lambert.
Check back on Friday's blog when four new contenders vie for the crown!

Every week we pick the gays who we think have made the biggest splash in television (or pop culture in general) and leave it to you, the keepers of the flame, to decide who will be crowned Gay of the Week.
Last week's results had soap opera character Oliver Fish beating out the real live Brendan Burke for the crown. Many, many people were frustrated by that result and felt it was unfair (and perhaps shallow) to pit frothy popular fictional characters against real world heroes. Well, we definitely heard you and are trying something a little different moving forward.
As you may have noticed, the Best Gay Week Ever column now contains a Hero of the Week poll, which allows us to recognize those real world individuals with more substantial contributions to the world at large. Moving forward, that's where we'll tip our hat to the Brendan Burkes, the Rachel Maddows,...

"The truth is, I don't think we fought any more than anyone else," Sam, 23, tells TVGuide.com. "All the other teams had the exact same experience. Ours just happened to be the ones that got shone. Mr. and Miss America) were consistently fun to watch thanks to her dramatic meltdowns and their witty repartee. The aspiring country singer and her marketing tour manager husband spoke with People about keeping it real on The Race. --Carrie Bell It must have been frustrating to gain the lead and then lose it because you can’t bungee bounce. Warning: This interview contains spoilers about the finale of The Amazing Race.
From the time viewers first met gay brothers Sam and Dan McMillen on CBS’ The Amazing Race last September, the duo made it hard to take your eyes off of them. Whether screaming at each other, swiping competitor’s taxi cabs, or playing volleyball in their undies (and forcing CBS to work overtime pixelating the footage) the two were always entertaining — and in the thick of things.
And just like Luke Adams did in the previous cycle of Tar, Sam and Dan represented the gay community well as they charged into Sunday night’s finale with a genuine shot at the million dollars. AfterElton.com caught up with the brothers to discuss their strategy in the race, their relationship and just why all that pixelation was necessary! And they didn't yell at each other once during the interview.

On this week’s season finale episode of The Amazing Race, we were treated to the one-hour representation of America: Las Vegas, Nevada. As habitually first place team Meghan and Cheyne ripped open their clue envelope, viewers at home were greeted with a montage of iconic Vegas imagery: poker chips, bright lights, and a fairly decent Elvis impersonator who mimed guitar behind the legendary anthem of the city… Katy Perry’s Waking up in Vegas.
The dating couple rushed to the airport, taking the first available flight from Prague to Nevada, a relatively scant five hours later. At the airport, the team waited patiently for their flight and reunification with second place finishers, brothers Sam and Dan, and the mysterious third place finishers. It was a pretty exciting show, this of course referring to the finale of "The Amazing Race 15". First, I'll give you a quick recap as to what happened before announcing the winners. The teams had to fly to Las Vegas and venture to the Graceland Wedding Chapel to get their next clue. Next, they were off to Mandalay Bay. After that was the Mirage Casion and Resort. Finally, the they had to go to the MGM Grand Hotel where they met with Wayne Newton who revealed that the last pit stop was his house. Meghan Ricky and Cheyne Whitney were the first ones to arrive, winning the competition and a whopping $1 million grand prize. In second were Sam and Dan and in third were Brian and Erika. Congratulations to the winners!

In tradition of "The Amazing Race" finales, the fifteenth edition also took the final three teams back to the United States to compete for the ultimate prize. From Prague, Czech Republic, Cheyne and Megan; Brian and Ericka; as well as Sam and Dan hopped on the same plane to Las Vegas, Nevada where they explored the casinos, literally.
Once in Las Vegas, they had to find an Elvis with a clue inside a wedding chapel. They were then directed to The Mirage where they should perform the Road Block. One team member must stapled his or her way down The Mirage face first in order to get the next clue. Ericka actually finished first and was so far ahead the two others.

The final trio of competitors—former Miss America Ericka Dunlap and husband Brian Kleinschmidt, picture-perfect couple Meghan Rickey and Cheyne Whitney, and brothers Sam and Dan McMillen—raced to Vegas for a final set of jaw-dropping challenges, which included scaling down the face of a casino, trying to attain flower power at Cirque du Soleil's The Beatles' Love and, gulp, knowing some basic geography. So, here we are. Over there's Meghan and Cheyne, also known as "that team that's always ahead". Also over there's Sam and Dan, also known as "that team that races and argues intensely" (or, as I christened them before, The Most Annoying Team Ever). And, catching up, is Brian and Ericka, also known as "that damn lucky team". One leg to go before one of these teams win the million dollars on The Amazing Race--but that doesn't mean they get away from the challenges of Las Vegas. I doubt that whatever happens there stays there, else I wouldn't be writing about it.

Remaining in last week’s setting, Prague in the beautiful Czech Republic, the four remaining teams saw a brand new side of the city: the nocturnal side. Departing under a twilight sky, dating couple and perpetual frontrunners Meghan and Cheyne were instructed to find The Spanish Synagogue, the city’s oldest Jewish house of prayer. Apart from the upcoming Speedbump destined to deter married couple Brian and Ericka, this location served no purpose other than exotic eye candy and a free advertisement for the Czech tourism board. Upon arrival, Megan and Cheyne received another clue, and were diverted towards another destination altogether. This location was the Ekotechnicke Museum, and the location of this week’s Roadblock Challenge.
Paying tribute to existentialist Franz Kafka, a groundbreaking author and Prague native, tonight’s Roadblock could be summed up in one word: Kafkaesque. “Kafkaesque” is one of the most abused and misinterpreted adjectives in the English language.

Being unable to unscramble five letters to spell "Franz" (as in Kafka) turned out to be quite the trial for The Amazing Race's Big Easy. The 28-year-old Harlem Globetrotter (real name: Nathaniel Lofton) struggled with the letters for almost three hours and was dealt a blow when Dan, after agreeing to work together, refused to give him the answer, offering up only the first letter. "That was his strategy. He felt like we were one of the strongest teams and he saw an opportunity to get rid of us and he went for it," Big Easy tells TVGuide.com. Rather than toil any longer, he and teammate, Herbert "Flight Time" Lang, 32, opted to incur a four-hour penalty, which ultimately led to their metamorphosis — uh, elimination. See why the pair had no regrets about the decision, what they think of Sam and Dan, and more.
