Only a stranger can help her survive and that that stranger is You! Unless.you become the accomplice that guides the killer to his prey. Director/writer: Isaac Cravit. Cast: Annie Clark, Daniel Kash, Richard Clarkin, Steven Love and Alyssa Capriotti. Solo is a backwoods thriller, which was released late in 2013. The film primarily focuses on one character, Gillian (Annie Clark), and her overnight stay on an isolated island. Events take on a psychological element, when a stranger appears on the island. Solo is an indie feature with only a few characters. Still, there is suspense and a little mystery here as first time director Isaac Cravit delivers a compelling feature. A little more horror could have been introduced in this film, but Solo does deliver enough tension to warrant film fans' time. The film begins and ends with the protagonist, Gillian. She has hopes of becoming a camp counsellour. However, she must pass an initiation rite, which leaves her alone on an island for two nights. The situation gets a little stranger when Gillian...

There's a big difference between "simple" and "simplistic," especially where indie horror films are concerned. There are countless rotten movies that have elaborate (or even clever) ideas, but hit the screen in very simplistic fashion. Conversely, there are calm, quiet, and unexpectedly compelling little thrillers like Solo, which don't boast a whole lot in the plot department, but use a simple premise to deliver a tight-fisted and intense little experience. And who needs all that extra story junk when simple works better?
Solo is about a young woman is none too thrilled about heading off to be a counselor at a summer camp, but unhappy Gillian (an excellent Annie Clark) seems resigned to make the best of her hardships. Oh, but before she can actually join the staff, Gillian must spend two nights alone on an isolated and creepy (but allegedly safe) little island across the river. Writer/director Isaac Cravit...

To get you over Hump Day, we have on tap an exclusive clip from the upcoming terror tale Solo, which is available now via YouTube. Check it out, and look for more on this one as it comes.
Isaac Cravit writes and directs. Annie Clark, Daniel Kash, and Richard Clarkin star.
Synopsis
17-year-old Gillian takes a job as a counselor at a remote summer camp. As part of her initiation, she must spend two nights by herself on the camp's island, an intimidating collision of rock and wilderness carved out of the lake, supposedly haunted by the ghost of a camper who disappeared suspiciously decades before. When Gilllian's "solo" is interrupted by a local man responding to a distress call, what was meant to be a peaceful time alone in nature devolves into something disturbingly different.
As her paranoia mounts, a horrifying secret is uprooted and Gillian finds herself in a desperate fight to survive.

The 2013 Edition of Toronto After Dark Film Festival has now passed the halfway mark. Generally, Monday night is a bit lighter because folks are exhausted from the last four nights of missing sleep, drinking, and trying to talk over loud music and people at the pub. However, last night featured a solid pair of films, and the auditorium over at the Scotiabank Theater was packed.
Things kicked off with Programmer Justin McConnell (who also directed the excellent Skullworld) introducing the first short and feature film of the evening. As usual, he kept it to the point, but he still had significant enthusiasm for the films.
The first short, Down Bob, also had a brief intro from its writer/director/star, Adam Schafer. The film was one of the longer shorts of the festival – clocking in at eleven minutes – but it was also one of the most enjoyable. It focuses on...

Shock Till You Drop's first distribution release, Solo, has just released its first trailer. In the film, a new camp counselor must first spend two days in the wilderness as initiation. The trailer just backs up my stance that no good can come from camping!

Indie survival horror thriller Solo has a first trailer and poster. See what you make of it all within...
We're quite intrigued by this low-budget mash-up of horror and survival thriller, written and directed by newcomer Isaac Cravit. About a teenage summer camp worker (Annie Clark) who foolishly agrees to spend a night or two camping on a remote island, it looks like an atmospheric collision of Friday The 13th's al fresco horror and The Hunger Games' woodland survival.
The first trailer below suggests that a Deliverance-style battle of wits will ensue, but with the film also hinting at something supernatural going on - the island's supposedly haunted by a dead camper, according to the synopsis - there may be more to it than the promo lets on.
This intriguing indie thriller's being distributed through ShockTillYouDrop, with Solo out to rent or buy from the 22nd October.

"Just stick to your camp, you'll be fine." A beautiful, young girl goes camping all by herself in a (horror) movie called Solo? Of course she's going to be terrorized by deranged madmen, what else? Our friends at ShockTillYouDrop have debuted the first creepy trailer for Isaac Cravit's Solo, a survival thriller starring Annie Clark as a girl who takes a job as a counselor at a remote summer camp and ends up on an island supposedly haunted by the ghost of a camper. The film is the first release from ShockTillYouDrop, who has partnered with The Orchard to find and distribute horror films. It doesn't look that great, but not bad either. Here's the first official trailer for Isaac Cravit's Solo, in high def on YouTube (via ShockTillYouDrop): Synopsis for Solo: 17-year-old Gillian (Annie Clark) takes a job as a counselor at a remote summer camp.

This month’s Short Film Corner we feature Good Boy, a five minute item which premiered at 2011′s Toronto Int. Film Festival and was one of the better short films to be include at the fest that year. With its crisp-looking, shot on the Red aesthetic, this tale of jealousy that takes place during an innocent day at the beach, centers around a Golden Retriever with abandonment issues. Loaded with a great deal of charm and a pinch of suspense, this unsurprisingly does a great job at playing with the auds expectations. I sat down with writer/director Isaac Cravit and his producer Chris Bennett to discuss how the short came about, what it means to bring a short to a prestige event such as Tiff and how they used the platform to put the final puzzles pieces in place for their feature film production (Solo) which begins lensing in today in and around.
