West of Thunder is an AIFI Top 10 American Indian Film (1970-2014), is the only film to be awarded Best Film - Human Rights and Best Film - Peace in the 28 year history of the Political Film Society of Hollywood, is the only film of its type to be considered for nomination for an NAACP Image Award, was asked by the Smithsonian Institution to be included in their film archives, and (screenplay) asked by the Margaret Herrick Academy Awards Library to be included in their collection.
- Profits from Jody's feature film "West of Thunder" will be donated to support the creation of Sunka Wakan, The Lakota International School, on Pine Ridge Reservation.

- In 2016 Jody's film, "West of Thunder" was honored as the showcase film at the Center for American Indian Research and Native Studies Lakota Film Festival in Martin, SD.
- Jody is co-author of the book "Music on the Bones" (an Amazon Best Seller).
- A soundtrack album for Jody's book, Music on the Bones, was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London in 2022. Jody has one of the authentic underground x-ray records from the 1960s for each of the tracks that was recorded and they are all featured in the pages of the book.
