Top Hollywood writers took to social media to express defiant support for their first union walkout in 15 years and showed their feelings about studios being unwilling to meet their contract demands.
The Writers Guild of America announced the work stoppage will begin Tuesday afternoon. The union also released a list of claimed responses from the studios to their proposals, which helped fire up members.
“The Shield put FX on the map,” wrote FX’s Snowfall writer-producer Sal Calleros. “Mad Men put AMC on the map. House of Cards put Netflix on the map. Writers did that. Not some CEO. Know what you get when you put CEOs in creative lanes? You get Quibi.”
“They shut down an entire industry rather than part with less than 3% of their record profits,” wrote Javier Grillo-Marxuach (Lost).

Minutes after the Writers Guild of America declared it was on strike, members lit up social media with vows to stay strong as they prepare to hit the picket lines on Tuesday.
News of the strike, which takes effect later this evening, came late Monday after the guild’s negotiations with the AMPTP failed to reach an agreement on a new film and scripted TV contract. It’s the WGA’s first strike since the 100-day walkout of 2007-08.
Reaction on Twitter was swift. “Here we go,” wrote David Simon. “See you all on the pavement, my brothers and sisters.” He followed it with the hashtag #WGAstrong.
Some expressed fear but that was quickly replaced by resolve, as scribes encouraged fellow members to ignore the spin “that’s already coming out.”

The idea of ending “Broad City” was something that the show’s creators and stars, Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, had had on their mind for a while. In our exclusive interview (watch the video above), Glazer reveals, “We had been talking about the end of the show for a few years. When we got the season four and five pickup, I feel like we started thinking about the rate of growth that we wanted to cover and creatively it felt right.” Jacobson adds that the show was about such a specific experience, that the show would reach a natural conclusion once their characters got beyond that point: “It’s based around our experiences living in New York in our twenties and once one of them is out of their twenties, it felt right that the show would end and leave space for whatever comes next.”

A day after slipping in a boob joke at the Golden Globes, Jeremy Renner is feeling the heat.
The 44-year-old actor took the stage Sunday with American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez, who turned heads on the red carpet in a low-cut Zuhair Murad gown, to present two awards. But before they revealed the winner for Best Actor in a TV, Mini-series or Movie, Renner snuck in a joke about J.Lo’s chest that had the Internet in a tizzy.

When most people are very small, someone (a parent, a teacher, some third responsible adult) teaches us the difference between our “inside” thoughts and out “outside” ones. Apparently, Jeremy Renner missed this crucial milestone. MTV has decided to drop their late-night show Nikki & Sara Live after two seasons. The showcase for comedians Sara Schaefer and Nikki Glaser won't be returning for season three.
Schaefer believes that the show wasn't cancelled however and, on the duo's podcast, offered her take on the show's demise.
She said, "To clarify, we were not cancelled. We weren’t picked up. Canceled implies at mid-season they axed you because you were failing. We were not failing. I want to be very clear. Our ratings were up from season one. Our ratings were comparable, if not better, than every other cable, late night show. I just want to be very clear about that. "

Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer announced today on their podcast, "You Had to Be There," that MTV did not pick up Nikki & Sara Live for a third season. The show, which premiered on January 29 of this year, had two twelve-episode seasons, with the last ending on October 29. As they explain on the podcast, the numbers weren’t bad, actually improving in its second season, but the show just wasn’t the “runaway hit” MTV was hoping for. You can listen to the podcast episode below, in which they mourn the loss of the show, talk about their favorite moments with their former staff, and take small jabs at MTV. The stars of MTV's late-night talk show "Nikki & Sara Live" are riding high as they prepare for the show's second-season premiere July 30, but co-host Sara Schaefer still remembers the tough financial spot she was in before the series began.

Last season also brought a look at the weird world of lingerie conventions and what happens when you combine every celebrity perfume into one big vat. The new 12-episode season will premiere this summer.

"This isn't fake?" Schaefer asked after Couric dropped the good news. "I need to text my mom," Glaser added.

In a new Funny or Die clip, Huey Lewis does his best Christian Bale from American Psycho — except with more Weird Al. I’ll leave the film criticism — what this does and does not say about the pose of reflexivity when applied to a film that already turned that pose inside-out to adapt Bret Easton Ellis’ intellectual bog of a novel — for another post and say only that I miss crazy, clothing-optional Christian. And who else didn’t know that Sports is turning 30? (Buy it on iTunes!)
Take a look at both clips below. Who gets it worse: Jared Leto or Al?...

Everyone knows that the best conversations happen in the ladies' bathroom. So that's exactly where we shot our first web series, Stallin' with Dave Hill. For our fourth episode, Dave interviewed his good friend and fellow comedian Nick Kroll, star of his own new show on Comedy Central, "Kroll Show."
After settling into our office bathroom set and thoroughly examining our Diy coffee mugs, Dave and Nick discuss the finer points of Nick's career, including being mistaken for Chris Kattan by Padma Lakshmi on Twitter. Kroll also talks about his recent trip to South America and shares a particularly dark vacation story (that for legal reasons we're going to say is not true), all before being hunted down by the "Good Television Police" outside our office. Don't worry, though. He got away.
Watch the episode above and tune into "Kroll Show" on Wednesdays at 10:30 p.m. on Comedy Central.

Zap2it: What is your goal with "Nikki & Sara Live!"?
Sara Schaefer: We want to do a lot about celebrity culture stuff, what's happening on the Internet, commenting in a fun way, and we also want to say things that need to be said, not snarky but pointing to the silly stuff Hollywood does.
Zap2it: And it's a mixture of live and taped?
Sara Schaefer: Yes, a half-hour once a week. The live part is terrifying.
Zap2it: But you have done stand-up. Doesn't that help?
Sara Schaefer: The beginning of the show will be monologue-type shows, and Nikki and I will go back and forth about celebrity news and whatever has been happening that week. If the Oscars are happening, we might go deeper into them.
Zap2it: Who are you hoping to land for celebrity interviews?
Sara Schaefer: I am hoping for the super famous.

Everyone knows that the best conversations happen in the ladies' bathroom. So that's exactly where we shot our first web series, Stallin' with Dave Hill. For our third episode, Dave sat down with rising stand-up comedian and "Best Week Ever" cast member Michael Che!
Che has made a name for himself in the New York stand-up scene and was recently listed on Rolling Stone's "50 Funniest People Now". During his visit to our office bathroom set, Che talked about being a "native" New Yorker, the first time he ever did stand-up and how public restrooms are like the police ("I don't want to use it, but I like to know it's always there") among other, slightly more scatological things.
Watch Che's interview above and also be sure to check out episode one with John Hodgman and episode two with Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer.

Everyone knows that the best conversations happen in the ladies' bathroom. So that's exactly where we shot our first web series, Stallin' with Dave Hill. For our second episode, we had the pleasure of featuring not one but two hilarious ladies, Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer!
Comedians Nikki and Sara just premiered their very own, brand new late night talk show, "Nikki & Sara Live" on MTV, and they also have an awesome, weekly podcast, "You Had To Be There." But for our interview, host Dave Hill mostly wanted to hear them spill all their secrets on how to use the ladies' room.
Watch Nikki and Sara talk about the perils of the public restroom and more in episode two of Stallin' above. "Nikki & Sara Live" airs Tuesdays at 11:00 on MTV.

Sure, it's terrific landing a TV show, and with your best friend, no less. And it's wonderful making it in the notoriously tough field of comedy. But the best perk, say Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer of "Nikki & Sara Live!" airing Tuesdays on MTV, is having stylists.
"We get styled, which is the most amazing thing about my job right now," Glaser says Zap2it of their fashion gurus, Alana Kelen and Dani Charlton. "Out of everything I am doing -- I have a comedy show; I get to do comedy with my best friend. I cannot say enough about having someone else pick out clothes that look good on you.
"I have never worked with another stylist," Glaser says. "I know what I like, but I walk in a store and get overwhelmed by choices."
The two women say being on TV has made them reassess their styles.

You know you’re in for a particularly wild episode Spoiler Alert! when the discussion starts with sideburns and nipples, and ends with a statement like “Someone’s gonna end up sleeping with their sister!”
But that isn’t the half of it!
This week, when Matt Mitovich and I welcome to the guest couch Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer from MTV’s Nikki & Sara Live, our topics range from how American Horror Story will top itself in season 3 (an unsexy Adam Levine?) to how Allison Williams managed to keep her tatas covered during Girls’ most awkward sex scene ever.

Attention, anyone with dreams of hosting your own talk show: Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer have done it, and want to impart their wisdom on you.
"Nikki & Sara Live" hits MTV on Jan. 29, but their journey to get to that point was not easy, involving full-time stand-up comedy careers and a successful podcast, "You Had To Be There." But they're totally happy to benevolently offer up tricks of the trade in the form of a video explaining how you, too, can get your own talk show.
Other than reevaluating your emotional evolution starting with childhood, getting your own show should be a piece of cake!
