- Paula Maxa was born on December 7, 1898. She was an actress, known for Les vampires (1915) and The Vampires: Hypnotic Eyes (1916). She died on September 23, 1970.
- The directors of her time appreciated her excessive gestures, her screams of terror (obviously mute), which accompanied two expressive and watery bulging eyes in their excellent simulation of panic and the hysteria of being killed. For these qualities, she was chosen to be killed in films up to 350 times. But in her true career, the theater, she died on stage up to 30,000 times. A record.
- [In her memoir] In the cinema, you have a series of images. Everything happens very quickly. But to see people in the flesh suffering and dying at the slow pace required by live performance, that is much more effective. It's a different thing altogether.
