Dead List
Stars: Holden Andrews, Nick Bandera, Lauren Compise, Erin Darling, Alixzandra Dove, Josh Eichenbaum, Matt Fowler, Lindsey Grubbs, Rob Healy, Alexandra Corin Johnston, Eric Pierce, Alexandra Costa, Brad Gage | Written and Directed by Holden Andrews, Ivan Asen, Victor Mathieu
Age: Released in 2018
Appearance: Straight to VOD anthology horror film. Occasionally wonky, sometimes amateurish but never ever boring. Some decent gore and a few laughs along the way.
Death Note. I mean Dead List!
Cool! I love horror anthologies! Creep Show, Asylum, Cat’s Eye…
It doesn’t quite reach those dizzying heights.
Ah, more like Tales from the Crapper than Tales from the Crypt then?
I wouldn’t say that either. It does have low production values and sometimes feels like a home movie, which might put some people off but if you stick with it, you will find a fun ride that is both creative and charming.

Don’t go around chasing monsters, because they might be real.
In Victor Mathieu’s directorial debut, The Monster Project is a very creative and scary film presented in the first-person point of view.
It follows a group of aspiring horror filmmakers, eager to raise their YouTube subscriber count, who post an online casting call for “real life” monsters to interview for their documentary. They find three participants and choose to film them sharing their haunted experiences in a mansion in the woods on the night of a lunar eclipse.
The film stars Toby Hemingway, Justin Bruening, Murielle Zuker, Jamal Quezaire, Yvonne Zima, Steven Flores and Shiori Ideta.
Lrm had an exclusive phone interview with Victor Mathieu for The Monster Project. Being a monster lover, he extensively talked about making these creatures come to life and the found footage style of filming in particular with night vision.

They went looking for monsters, but they had no idea that they would literally encounter them. A group of filmmakers find out the hard way that their new interviewees have a tendency to bite the hand that films them in the new movie The Monster Project, and ahead of its August 18th On Demand and Digital HD release from Epic Pictures Group, we've been provided with an exclusive clip for Daily Dead readers to enjoy.

A low-rent House of Horrors for whatever small contingent of genre fans isn't yet sick to death of found-footage thrillers, Victor Mathieu's The Monster Project sets YouTubers against boogeymen and wonders who will win. More of a challenge to the eyes and ears than most pics of its ilk, it invests slightly more in its characters than usual, but not enough to make us care if they live or die. Commercial prospects are slim, though some buffs may click in the home-entertainment arena.

Checking my YouTube feed this morning, I discovered Epic Pictures uploaded an eleven episode Japanese/English web series. Episodes vary in length, not unlike Marble Hornets, and are super creepy found-footage shorts. They’re directed by Victor Mathieu, and it looks to be promotional work or a prequel for the August 18th release of The Monster Project, which is Mathieu’s. Check out the first one, posted below!

Whilst writer/director Victor Mathieu works hard on his latest coulrophobic creation 'CarnieVille' the filmmaker is already lining up his next horror directorial job on demonic found footage movie 'Leyak'. The flick revolves around a young cameraman who has to step out from behind the lens of the camera to cross his social and cultural boundaries in order to save his girlfriend from the demonic forces of Balinese black magic. An early piece of artwork from the Tombstone Films production has arrived giving us a sketched outline of the creature in question. A 'Leyak' is a mythological creature that takes the form of a flying head with entrails, such as the heart, lungs, liver, etc, still attached. Check out the new image below....
