‘Vertigo,’ ‘Free Fire,’ and Much, Much More
This week on the One Perfect Podcast Channel we have a score of great shows coming up.
First off, Matthew Monagle is joined by critic Tomris Laffly to discuss — what else? — Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire starring Brie Larson, Armie Hammer, and Cillian Murphy. If you don’t know the format, Monagle and his guest discuss the film both before and after seeing it, weighing expectations against reality. The result is a review show unlike every other, and one you have to check it out.
Then on Shot by Shot, the cinematography podcast hosted by myself and One Perfect Shot creator Geoff Todd, we’re talking about a film many consider to be the greatest ever made, Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo, which was shot by the Master of Suspense’s favorite Dp, the great Robert Burks.
Then there’s Neil Miller’s The Big Idea, the...

Question: I’m already having Walking Dead withdrawal. Got anything on Season 8 yet? — Bud
Ausiello: As a matter of fact, yes. Remember in the finale, when Sasha said she wasn’t giving up on Eugene, even though he’d reverted to his most spineless self? That was “a hint to what the story is,” showrunner Scott Gimple recently told TVLine. “It certainly looked like he was still a Savior. But is that going to haunt him… change him?...

Remember when Grange Hill went to the Isle Of Wight? Or the escaped puma? Here are 12 memorable school trip episodes from the early years...
With just over thirty years worth of screen time, there are plenty of memorable moments in Grange Hill. From its inception in February 1978 the programme proved both entertaining and controversial. It tackled many difficult subjects head-on: bullying, vandalism, racism, censorship, shop-lifting, school uniform protest, teenage pregnancy and - most famously of all - drugs. However, every now and again it would attempt to give viewers a break from the everyday and head off on a day trip or weekend excursion.

Jason Bateman scored his second career Emmy nomination this year for playing Michael Bluth on "Arrested Development," eight years after first being nominated for the role.
That's great and all -- but in a certain part of the pop-culture consciousness, he'll always be Matthew Burton.
You know, the lead character of "It's Your Move"? The one-season NBC sitcom from 1984-85?
Welcome to Before They Were Emmy Nominees. Each Tuesday and Wednesday between now and the Emmy Awards on Sept. 22, we're going to look back at some early and obscure roles of a few of this year's acting nominees. (See Zap2it's Before They Were Nominees photo gallery.)
"It's Your Move" came from Ron Leavitt and Michael G. Moye, the future creators of "Married ... With Children." Bateman's Matthew was a teenage prankster and scam artist who lived with his sister (Tricia Cast) and their mom (Caren Kaye). Matthew met his match...

Andrew Gafield, Shailene Woodley and Sally Field were all spotted on the set of Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 today. Not a lot of action took place, but from eyewitness accounts Andrew was seen rushing from an alley and into his home, or it was Mary Jane Watson's home. As she might be his neighbor in this version of the tale, much like she was in Sam Raimi's. Image Credit: Matthew Vlossak Peter Parker & Mary Jane's houses! Images Courtesy of Newscom The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be directed by Marc Webb from a script written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and James Vanderbilt. If you have Netflix and are a horror fan in need of something to watch this Labor Day weekend, one look at this gargantuan list I compiled of the new terror titles Netflix has added for instant streaming in just the first three days of this month should keep you busy until Labor Day next year. You'll find something for everyone, from older titles to recent releases, famous to obscure, classic to not-so-classic, monsters to maniacs - you name it.
For the record, I considered compiling this list in alphabetical order or by year of the film's release, but then I realized I had already spent well over an hour just sorting through the massive catalogue of titles Netflix has now made available for instant streaming and realized Labor Day would be over by the time I finished arranging this list in any kind of order. Ready? Here you go.

Welcome to another edition of The Pull List. This edition covers my comic purchases for the month of May. With many books ending and new series beginning I plan on making the switch to trades for the majority of my future purchases, so whilst I’ll be maintaining The Pull List in future, it may be less frequent (probably monthly rather than fortnightly).
However do look out for more graphic novel reviews and special editions of this feature ala the ‘Graphic Novel Edition’ that ran back in January. As usual if you’ve missed any of the previous entries you can check them out right here.
My Pull List
Avengers: The Initiative #35
Booster Gold #32

Invincible Iron Man #26
Justice League: Generation Lost #1 & 2 (Reviews to follow)
Marvel Zombies 5 #3

Real-life gay couples who both act, and whether Mark Indelicato and Chris Colfer will end up bitter and typecast like Sean Hayes! Plus, a Simon Rex sex-tape scandal primer!

How did he survive it? How did the gay community go through it? It seems stunning to me that the news of his past is not more widely discussed. Was it well discussed in the past, or simply a notch on a tabloid page? Did he ever fend off allegations of him being gay? – Maharajah, West Palm Beach, Fl
