"A nightmarish stew you can't help but enjoy." Level Film has revealed a new red band trailer for a trippy, wild and extra crazy horror thriller called Do Not Disturb. Potentially a brand new cult horror hit, as long as some people watch it, based on all the quotes in here. Made by Canadian filmmaker John Ainslie, the film initially premiered at the Popcorn Frights Film Festival, FrightFest London, Grimmfest, and Screamfest LA horror festivals last year. It's currently set to open in select theaters + on VOD starting this month. Love is all consuming in this narcotic nightmare crafted by writer / director John Ainslie. The film is a psychedelic exploration of love, lust and carnal desire. A couple travels to Miami for their honeymoon, but after taking some peyote it ends up unlocking very dark desires within them. Starring Kimberly Laferriere & Rogan Christopher as the couple, with Janet Porter, Christian McKenna,...

John Ainslie’s Do Not Disturb portrays what nastiness festers behind locked hotel room doors in this heavy dose of psychedelic anarchy. What feels like a stripped-down mashup of Bones & All, Very Bad Things, and The Hangover sends broken people on a bad and bloody trip. It might not look that way at first, because Ainslie wants the initial twenty to thirty minutes to feel more dramatically inclined. That’s when the peyote ingestion begins, and terrible decisions breed despicable outcomes in a fashion that’ll please viewers who appreciate a savage brand of tonal chaos.
Canadian newlyweds Chloe (Kimberly Laferriere) and Jack (Rogan Christopher) travel to Miami to reignite what passion once existed. They’re your typical front-page couple in divorce pamphlets. Chloe’s still grieving after a failed pregnancy while Jack focuses on getting blitzed, proper man-child style. That’s when opportunity presents itself — a delusional man...

The problems with Close to You aren’t immediately apparent. It’s a quiet film about Sam (Elliot Page), a trans man, living in Toronto. He’s trying to decide whether or not to return home for his father’s birthday party. Sam comes from a family whose uneasiness with his transition sometimes manifests as an aggressive insistence on their progressive values. He considers whether he can endure their performance.
Written and directed by Dominic Savage, Close to You focuses on the drama of Sam’s homecoming. Returning to his small town near Lake Ontario forces him to confront long-buried feelings about his family and an old friend (Hillary Baack). The film yearns to capture the stages of this emotional exhumation, but a clunky screenplay makes for a less affecting watch.
The film’s visual grammar is built on intimate close-ups that try to capture the imperceptible awkwardness of the past and present colliding.

Oscar winner Keith Carradine (The Power of the Dog), Emmy nominee Jason Ritter (Raising Dion), Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad) and Wrenn Schmidt (Nope) have joined the cast of Fox’s upcoming anthology series Accused, based on the International Emmy-winning British series. The project comes from 24 executive producers Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa and House creator/executive producer David Shore.
Developed by Gordon and co-produced by Fox Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television, Accused is based on the BBC’s BAFTA-winning crime anthology. It opens in a courtroom on the accused, with viewers knowing nothing about their crime or how they ended up on trial. Told from the defendant’s point of view through flashbacks, Accused depicts how an ordinary person gets caught up in an extraordinary situation, ultimately revealing how one wrong turn leads to another, until it’s too late to turn back.
The series premieres Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 9 p.

Chloe and Jack travel to Miami for their honeymoon. Amidst the flashy neon and sunny beaches, they decide a peyote experience will strengthen their marriage. Unbeknownst to them, they’ve been given a rare and powerful strand of the drug that awakens a desire to eat human flesh.
I’ll admit, I was drawn to Do Not Disturb thanks to John Ainslie, director of this film, and the writer behind the brilliant Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer. Ainslie was also responsible for co-writing and directing 2017’s The Resident (aka The Sublet) which, whilst not as successful as Jack Brooks Imho, was still a decent slice of supernatural horror that was held together by lead actress Tianna Nori. And that’s also the case for Do Not Disturb, which relies heavily on its two leads, Kimberley Laferriere and Rogan Christopher,...

Disney Plus has swooped on the international rights for “The Hardy Boys.”
The mystery series, which airs on Hulu in the U.S. and Ytv and StackTV in Canada, was sold by Corus Entertainment-backed producer-distributor Nelvana to Disney Plus in select international markets, and will land on Star.
Star is the sixth, adult-oriented tile on Disney Plus that launched earlier this year, and which serves as a home for much of the Hulu catalogue outside the U.S. The one territory where “The Hardy Boys” will remain on Disney Plus is Latin America.
Both season 1 (13 x 60′) and season 2 (10 x 60′) of the Daytime Emmy-nominated show — which was developed and produced in Canada by Nelvana and Lambur Productions, in association with Corus Entertainment — will debut on the Mouse House platform in 2022.
“The Hardy Boys” is based on the books by Franklin W. Dixon and features the principal characters in their teen years.

“The Hardy Boys” are back for a second season of mystery solving.
Corus Entertainment-backed producer-distributor Nelvana and Lambur Productions, who produce the show, have greenlit a second season (10 x 60′), which has again been picked up by Hulu for the U.S. and Canadian kids’ broadcaster Ytv. The series, which is based on the classic books by Franklin W. Dixon, will start production in Toronto and Southern Ontario later this month, and premiere in 2022.
Picking up six months after the events of season 1, the next chapter of “The Hardy Boys” finds Frank and Joe tackling another complicated mystery when a local Bridgeport teen goes missing and a shadowy corporation moves into town.
“The Hardy Boys” novels were first published in 1927 and have been updated for new generations of readers over subsequent decades. There have been five television adaptations of the original IP thus far, with Nelvana producing a short-lived series...

Photo: 'The Hardy Boys'/Hulu The most famous detective brothers Frank and Joe Hardy were created by Edward Stratemeyer, who later founded Stratemeyer Syndicate, all the way back in 1926. The characters have appeared in hundreds of novels and several different types, and have been passed down from generation to generation for almost a century. Now, after being in print for so long, and a few attempts at TV adaptations, The Hardy Boys is now making its way into the streaming age, maintaining the timelessness of some of the world’s most famous fictional detectives. Roy Moore spokeswoman Janet Porter went to bat for the former U.S. Senate candidate on Thursday, asserting that voter fraud was the reason for Moore’s loss to Doug Jones and cited experts who she insisted said the same. When CNN anchor John Berman pointed out that one of the experts the campaign was citing, Jim Condit Jr, was a Holocaust denier and had tweeted other questionable remarks about Jews, Porter did her best to offer a full-throated denial — even with the evidence presented in front of her. Roy Moore spokeswoman Janet Porter came in for some tough questions from an unusual source — Fox News. Monday, the night before the Alabama special Senate election, anchor Martha Maccallum grilled Porter on her candidate’s insistence that he did not write an inscription in Beverly Young Nelson’s yearbook or sign it. Nelson, one of several women now accusing Moore of sexual misconduct, says the inscription and signature prove she knew Moore. He had said he has never met his accusers. “That yearbook was shown to be a fraud, for those who missed it, the woman who said that he signed it,...
