Sawed Off begins with a nightmare sequence before diving into more human issues as Jon makes an infrequent return to his hometown for a hunting trip with his old friend Frank. Complicating the awkwardness the years brought on is the fact they’ll be hunting on land owned by Jon’s ex Marjorie whom Frank also has some history with.
After a lot of awkward questions and a lot of avoiding actually answering them, Frank and Jon head into the woods. It doesn’t take long before the tress attack Jon. Or maybe he just hallucinated it as he finds suddenly finds himself in a clearing. That’s only the start of a series of odd occurrences that lead to Jon accidentally shooting Frank. And Frank returning from the dead,...

The “…Jennifer” films are a series of strange beasts. The first, To Jennifer, was released in 2012 and was the first film (despite the claims from elsewhere) to be shot completely on an iPhone, the iPhone 5 in this case. For Jennifer is the first film from director Jody Barton. This title follows 2 Jennifer, from 2016. In the sequel, a horror themed birthday party creates an accident. Now, the party-goers have come up with the idea to shoot their own film. Then, they discover that their film is related to a few that have already been made. Prolific filmmaker James Cullen Bressack (Pernicious) wrote the script for this feature. And, For Jennifer stars: Tiffani Fest (Circus of the Dead), Felissa Rose and Dominique Swain. If you missed the film's late March release, then you would not be the only one - with more details on For Jennifer below. The official synopsis also mentions Jennifer (Fest) and the danger she is in. When she begins filming her feature, she also puts her friends at risk. To make the film truly realistic, Jennifer must contact others in the indie horror filmmaking scene and...

"No one makes it out alive!" Jb Films has released a trailer for an indie meta-horror horror film called For Jennifer, which originally premiered back in 2018 and is just now getting a VOD release. This is the latest in the Jennifer series created by Jody Barton and James Cullen Bressack. Jennifer, Stefanie, and Joey are making a movie. But soon the lines between what is a movie and what is real begin to disappear. And when making a horror movie, that can be a difference between life and death. Ooooooohhhhh so scary. The meta-horror aspect is because it's about a horror blogger who tries to make a horror movie who realizes there are other horror movies just like it and figures out she is also in a horror movie. Whew. The film stars Tiffani Fest, Felissa Rose, Dominique Swain, Lanett Tachel, Rich Finley, and Nick Kekeris. This is super duper,...

I think we can now say it is officially the festive season. So this means that I will try to watch as many Christmas movies as humanly possible throughout December (and the end of November). Ugly Sweater Party comes under the banner of Christmas horror comedy, so it hasn’t got a whole lot of competition.
I have previously enjoyed director Aaron Mento’s work. Starting with the unique and entertaining Standards of Living and then moving on to the very clever series idea of Choose Their Kill (look it up and enjoy), so when I discovered he was the director of Ugly Sweater Party my expectations were a little higher. Unless you’re new to Nerdly, or just haven’t being paying attention, we’re (well when I say we I mean I am) a big fan of the films of James Cullen Bressack. So much so that I’ve tried my damndest to get his films released here in the UK – we had Hate Crime banned by the BBFC but we did have success in releasing To Jennifer, Bressack’s found-footage, shot on the iPhone shocker earlier this year on UK-based VOD site TheHorrorShow.TV
But it seems I’m not the only fan of Bressack’s work… Hunter Johnson, the man behind LAHorror.com, is apparently so much of a fan of Bressack’s film, To Jennifer in particular, that he set out to make – with permission of course...

Who knew that James Cullen Bressack’s iPhone 5-lensed horror To Jennifer would inspire someone to create – with Bressack’s permission – a sequel that not only builds on the tory of the first film but also takes this particular “series” to a whole new meta level!
2 Jennifer stars Hunter Johnson (owner of LAHorror.com) – who also directs – David Coupe and Lara Jean Mummert. The film also features performances from To Jennifer alums James Cullen Bressack, Jarrett Furst & Jody Barton; as well as Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Veronica Ricci (Bloody Mary 3D), Erin Marie Hogan (House of Manson), Charles Chudabala, Josh Brown and Matt Holbrook.
Two filmmakers attempt to make the perfect sequel to “To Jennifer,” however a dark secret threatens the lives of everyone involved. Jennifer, a beautiful actress, now has two options: become the heroine of the film, or face a brutal death.

Undeterred by the recent BBFC ban of our first planned release Hate Crime, we’ve teamed up with our good friends at TheHorrorShow.TV to release another film by writer-director James Cullen Bressack: To Jennifer - the first film shot on an iPhone 5 (pre-dating the forthcoming Hooked Up by a number of months), To Jennifer stars Jessica Cameron, Chuck Pappas, Jody Barton and Bressack himself, and tells a story of love gone wrong shot in a cinema verité, as-it-happened format.
Joey suspects his girlfriend of two years, Jennifer, is cheating on him. He is so convinced that he enlists the help of his cousin Steven to create a video diary of his attempt to catch her in the act as well as to document the heartbreak she is putting him through. In an attempt to make her feel guilty, he intends to give this tape to her after catching her in the act.

This past summer the Foywonder shared the news that The Asylum was bringing us 13/13/13, and since it's now available on Blu-ray/DVD, we thought we'd show you the flick's artwork and trailer.
From award-winning writer/director James Cullen Bressack (Hate Crime, To Jennifer) and The Asylum, the studio behind the social media juggernaut Sharknado, comes 13/13/13, starring Trae Ireland, Erin Coker, and Jody Barton. The film is produced by David Michael Latt, David Rimawi, and Paul Bales.
Special features include a blooper reel and making-of featurette.
In a world where everyone is completely insane and violent, can one seemingly sane man survive? Or in a world where everyone is crazy, is the only sane person the craziest of all?
Synopsis:
For millennia, calendars have added an extra day every four years. In doing so, they violated the ancient Mayan calendar. Now we are in the 13th month of the 13th year of the new millennium,...

What happens when you team one of America’s best indie horror filmmakers (directing from his own script) with one of America’s biggest mockbuster makers, The Asylum? Well, you get 13/13/13.
Seemingly inspired by Darren Lynn Bousman’s 11-11-11, The Asylum have, since 2011, been releasing thematically similar horror flicks for the past few years. In 2011 we had 11/11/11, and last year they released 12/12/12 and this year we get 13/13/13 (the title will make sense once you’ve seen the film). The Asylum’s previous “demonic number” flicks told of children, anti-christs reborn on earth, and how they were set to bring about the apocalypse. Well now The Asylum have taken it a step further with this flick – the apocalypse is well and truly under way in this ends of days tale…...

Just in time for Halloween, The Asylum, the studio behind this summer’s social media juggernaut Sharknado, has followed that hit with the final installment of their ‘11/11/11’ horror franchise, called ‘13/13/13.’
‘13/13/13’ is available now on DVD, Blu-ray, and on demand. Written and directed by James Cullen Bressack (Theater Of The Deranged, Hate Crime), the film stars Trae Ireland, Erin Coker, Jody Barton, and Calico Cooper. Erin Coker returns from ‘11/11/11,’ though she does not reprise her role.
In the tradition of horror classics The Hills Have Eyes and The Crazies, ’13/13/13’ blends a demonic possession tale with the end of society as we know it. Its premise is simple and scary: calendars have added an extra day every four years for millennia. In doing so, they violated the ancient Mayan calendar. Now we are in the 13th month of the 13th year of the new millennium, and the few who survive will battle a world of demons.

Pardon my language but… Fuck me! I’ve been a fan of James Cullen Bressack’s work for some time now, ever since that fateful day he sent me an email asking me if I’d like to review his first full-length feature My Pure Joy. Bressack followed that hard-hitting flick with a segment in the first Theatre of the Deranged anthology and the notorious (and totally amazing), Hate Crime. Now in all honesty I though he couldn’t top Hate Crime. After all that film was, at least for me, a perfect mix of story and style – Bressack’s directorial sensibilities fit perfectly with the content and you could tell that everyone involved wanted to make the best movie they could, even given the touchy subject matter.

Sharknado Syfy and Blu-ray Release Dates; The Asylum Announces 13/13/13 and The Bell Witch Hauntings
Several of you who read my Sharknado review have asked when you’ll get a chance to see this astounding motion picture about Los Angeles under siege from a hurricane, shark-infested flood waters, and tornadoes full of apex predators.
I’ll tell you when and also share some news about two new Asylum horror offerings coming this fall.
Yeah, I’m the guy who gave Sharknado a 4-1/2 out of 5 review, and I stand by every word of it. Probably the most fun I’ve had watching any movie this year. I got an advance look; you’ll get your chance on Thursday, July 11th, at 9/8 Central, when the ultimate Asylum movie premieres on Syfy. Or, if you want to wait until DVD and Blu-ray to experience Ian Ziering, Tara Reid, and John Heard contend with nature at its most amok, the film is slated for DVD and Blu-ray release on September 3rd.

The Cabining: “Todd and Bruce, a hapless screenwriting team, get one last shot at success thanks to Todd’s wealthy stepdad, Serge. In conjunction with Psykik Junky Pictures releasing the first official trailer for its new found footage film To Jennifer, filmed entirely on the iPhone 5, the company announced the flick will be available later this year in its entirety as a stand-alone app in the iTunes App Store.
You'll be able to download To Jennifer directly to your mobile device. The app will include not only the film but also some special features, much like a DVD would. A price point has not yet been set, but writer/director James Cullen Bressack promises to keep the cost low. A DVD release is also in the works for the film in the future.
"This film was made specifically for the iPhone," states Bressack. "I am fortunate to have worked with so many amazing people on this project, and I think this is a new and unique way to watch and distribute a film.

As the film was shot on the iPhone 5, Bressack has gone to great lengths to make the film available specifically on the mobile device. Thanks to the work of Psykik Junky Pictures and the help and distribution from Apple and Zoovision, To Jennifer will be available in it’s entirety as a stand alone App on the iTunes marketplace to be downloaded directly to your mobile phone. The app will not only include the film but also special features, in much the same way as a DVD would.

Title: Hate Crime Directed by: James Cullen Bressack Starring: Jody Barton, Debbie Diesel, Greg Depetro, Nicholas Clark Running time: 73 minutes, Unrated, Available on Blu-ray Special Features: None A trio of neo-nazi, meth crazed masked men terrorize a family on the night of the youngest son’s birthday party. I am not a fan of the “found footage” horror genre. I felt nauseous and got a headache which lasted several hours after watching this film because of the ever-present shaky cam that I never had happen with other found-footage films. For those who are fans of the genre might like Hate Crime, or they might not. This isn’t anything like we’ve [ Read More ]

James Cullen Bressack may well be a writer, director, actor, producer and much more but now it seems he may become a bit of a trail blazer when it comes to horror distribution. His latest project 'To Jennifer' is currently in production and the twist is that the entire feature is being filmed and then edited and distributed all through the iPhone 5. Yep, that's right the horror movie will be made available entirely through the smartphone and Bressack states 'We are working in conjunction with some great companies to deliver the first film directly tailored to mobile devices.' The director himself stars alongside Chuck Pappas and Jody Barton and will be released under the Psykik Junky Pictures banner. Check out the first new official poster for the project below....

Home invasion thrillers are tough to do well, but Hate Crime seems to be on the right track, having already won awards at several film festivals. If you're a fan of the sub-genre, check out this batch of posters and the trailer for the film.
Hate Crime is the second feature directed by 20-year-old indie filmmaker James Cullen Bressack, who describes it as "a labor of love from a dedicated group of people looking to make something different. Despite being extremely well received by the horror community, this film has fought a lot of controversy due to its extreme content, almost being banned in the UK; has been pulled off the screens at festivals before even showing due to content and theatre management not willing to show the movie the festival booked...

Hate Crime
Stars: Jody Barton, Nicholas Clark, Greg Depetro, Debbie Diesel, Sloane Morgan Siegel, Maggie Wagner, Tim Moran, Ian Roberts | Written by James Cullen Bressack, Jarret Cohen | Directed by James Cullen Bressack.
Let’s get the standard caveat out of the way first – I hate, no, loathe the “found-footage” sub-genre of horror, it’s often used as a cheap and easy way to tell a bad story. There are of course exceptions to this rule – of which Hate Crime is one.
Hate Crime has, at it’s core, a very simple premise. A family are gathered together to celebrate the birthday of the youngest member and as the father has done every year, he films the occasion. Only this year is different, in the midst of the celebration the family are subjected to a violent home invasion by a trio of masked men brandishing guns and waving swastikas, determined to...
