Steve Meixell is the director, writer, and producer of the film Unearthing Ogawa, which has aired nationwide on PBS and PBS WORLD stations to much acclaim and response.
Unearthing Ogawa was named Best Documentary at the Chicago Independent Film Festival, selected to be on the 2021 Emmy Award ballot, and has been featured at major festivals in Montreal, Vancouver, Toronto, New York City, Portland, Albuquerque, and ImpactDOCS globally. IndieFest in Southern California gave it two Awards of Excellence, and Unearthing Ogawa was a multiple top-five final nominee for Best Documentary at the Australian Film Awards (AFIN).
Meixell received the Media Writing Award from Northwestern University and was nominated for the Pushcart Prize in literature (The Rubble). He wrote for Universal Studios (Baretta) and served as editor of International Photography magazine. His short stories Goodbye Brooklyn and Ivan Ending were Honorable Mention in The World's Finest Mystery and Crime Stories (Forge Press). He also writes music essays for the Canadian-based network Calm Radio, and has won awards from the International Film & Television festival and Communication Arts magazine.
