Emmy Nominated composer Jonathan Hartman is a musical polymath, drawing upon the traditions of film music, jazz, analog synthesis and 20th century minimalism to create compelling scores for film and television.
After a career as a performing jazz saxophonist in NYC, Jonathan entered the film world assisting composer John Ottman (Xmen).
Jonathan broke into television contributing music on the first season of the hit series OUTLANDER (Starz) with Bear McCreary. Jonathan next scored SUPERSTITION (SYFY), a supernatural series starring Mario Van Peebles. Jonathan composed all of the authentic 1920s style period music for THE CHAPERONE (PBS Masterpiece) starring/produced by Elizabeth McGovern and Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey)
Jonathan was nominated for an Emmy for his original score for DARK/WEB (Amazon Prime). The dark cyber thriller featured his deep exploration into cutting edge analog synthesis and was nominated for the 2020 Daytime Emmy awards for "Outstanding Music Direction & Composition for a Drama or Digital Drama Series".
In 2019 Jonathan began a creative relationship with Games Workshop's massively successful Warhammer science fiction/fantasy brand. He has worked extensively in the UK with massive orchestras & choirs at AIR & Abbey Road Studios in London, as well Peter Gabriel's RealWorld Studios in Bath. Recent work includes the Warhammer Global Ident, the grimdark noir 40k series Interrogator, as well as the brutal & bloody fantasy series Blacktalon with a 100+ piece orchestra & choir.
His score for Warhammer 40,000: Angels of Death charted upon release at #3 globally amongst iTunes Soundtracks, as well as several top 10 and top 50 albums in over a dozen countries.
