After Henry Cavill exited “The Witcher,” a first look at Season 4 of the Netflix series teases new star Liam Hemsworth as the recast character. A Google search lists Cavill at 6’1″ and Hemsworth as 6’3″ — if you can believe those things.
Per the synopsis: After the shocking, Continent-altering events that closed out Season 3, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freya Allan) who are faced with separately traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons. If they can embrace and lead the respective groups of misfits they find themselves in, the trio have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire and finding one another again.
The ensemble cast includes Joey Batey (Jaskier), Laurence Fishburne (Regis) Eamon Farren (Cahir), Anna Shaffer (Triss Merigold), Mimî M Khayisa (Fringilla), Cassie Clare (Philippa), Mahesh Jadu (Vilgefortz), Meng’er Zhang (Milva), Graham McTavish (Dijkstra), Royce Pierreson (Istredd...

It didn’t take long for Netflix’s The Witcher to become a fan-favorite TV show, especially thanks to its incredible cast and the source material. The show also resulted in a spin-off film written by Beau DeMayo titled, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. The animated film revolves around Geralt’s mentor, Vesemir, and brings his origin story to the screen.

Before the release of the film, Beau DeMayo opened up about where he got the inspiration for the story, and let’s just say that there were a few unlikely sources. This includes several anime including Gundam Wing as well as Bruce Timm’s groundbreaking superhero show, Batman: The Animated Series.

Beau DeMayo’s controversial firing some weeks before the premiere of X-Men ’97 was a huge point of discussion among fans. While various rumors have been circulated, the true reason is unknown. DeMayo had continued talking about the show as the episodes drop weekly and many fans are also loving the narrative he had built for the X-Men team.

While future seasons of the show have been greenlit, DeMayo is unlikely to return as showrunner. His recent Marvel firing and his past fiasco with The Witcher series (comments made by one of his co-writers on the show), signal a problematic reputation that Marvel wouldn’t want to associate with further.

Beau DeMayo served as the creator of X-Men ’97 for Marvel Studios. However, DeMayo came into the limelight for the wrong reasons when he was fired from the series shortly before its premiere in March 2024. DeMayo previously worked as a writer on Netflix’s The Witcher, where he wrote two episodes of the fantasy series.

According to reports, DeMayo’s work in the franchise was slammed by his The Witcher colleague, Matthew D’Ambrosio, for problematic treatment of a gay character. However, DeMayo has defended his decision, albeit poorly, by using his privilege as a gay writer. Here is what D’Ambrosio said about DeMayo killing off a gay character.

Marvel Studio’s X-Men ’97 has been wreaking havoc across the fandom for its incredible storyline, marvellous characters, nostalgic theme, and adrenaline-packed action. While the animated series continues to garner praise, many have been wondering why Beau DeMayo, the series’ showrunner, was allegedly fired by Marvel.

Just a week before X-Men ’97’s release, DeMayo and Marvel apparently parted ways. While that does seem to be as concerning, it becomes more concerning given DeMayo’s history with Henry Cavill’s The Witcher.
