Former WWE wrestler Tyler Reks took part in a Reddit A.M.A. (Ask Me Anything) session recently, and an interesting story concerning John Cena came out during the chat.
Reks has long been outspoken concerning his disdain for the 15-time WWE World Champion. According to Reks, he had to change his finisher while working for WWE because it was too much like Cena’s. Reks’ finisher at the time was called The Burning Hammer, and according to Reks, Cena took issue with him using it.
The story that came out on Reddit, though, concerned Cena’s interactions with another WWE performer: Alex Riley. According to Reks, Cena really had it out for Riley in the locker room for a long period of time. Nobody seemed to know the root of the feud.
According to Reks:
“There is truth that there was some sort of unknown, unreasonable heat between Riley and Cena.

Takeover:Unstoppable is a mere couple of weeks away and the anticipation’s building to a fever pitch. Nxt are throwing the entire might of their storytelling department behind the event and while that resulted in a show with only three matches, no storyline was given the night off.
There was a contract signing, backstage interviews with Michael Cole, a vignette featuring an as-yet-unnamed new Superstar, video packages of the women’s title contenders, home footage from Alex Riley, even a Raw Recap. They squeezed a Lot into an hour.
While it’s commendable that Nxt remains almost maniacally set on keeping all of its plates spinning every week, the lack of wrestling was notable.
There can be no doubt in anyone’s mind that Nxt Takeover: Unstoppable is going to be a can’t-miss show, but did WWE get the balance right in this edition of its development program?...

This week in wrestling left us with a lot of questions. For example, does Jbl know that The Daily Show airs on Comedy Central and not “The Comedy Channel?” Does Dolph Ziggler realize that referring to himself as good looking isn’t an endearing babyface trait? And how do people continually keep stealing The Undertaker’s urn? You’d think after the second or third time that thing was taken he’d buy a safe to keep it in.
Sometimes, I just want WWE to at least pretend that other wrestling companies that they don’t own exist. On Raw, Hhh questioned Booker T why Sting didn’t show up in WWE sooner. If only he had responded “Because we were in The Main Event Mafia together sucka!” It’s not like Booker T and Sting played different roles in Tna, they were the same guys they were in WCW.

The 2014 edition of the Hell In A Cell pay per view has come and went. It took place in Dallas, Texas, and the event had the standard eight matches including four title matches and two matches within the Hell In A Cell structure. In the pre-show leading up to the pay per view, we had your usual panel of Renee Young, Booker T, and Alex Riley. The special guest this month was a great one in Paul Heyman. There have been better go-home shows. But then again, an episode of SmackDown still stands between us and Hell in a Cell, so all may not be lost. The folks in Kansas City did their darndest to put a promo-heavy Raw on their shoulders with equal parts passionate interaction and irksome subversion – poor Randy Orton – and the minority of talent who squared off in the ring (i.e. Usos, Mizdow, Gold/Stardust, Ziggler/Cesaro, etc.) ran circles around the night's plodding microphone work.

The wrestling business is a very tough industry to make a good living from. On Thursday we found out via WWE.com that they had released at least superstars, one diva and a referee. It wasn’t expected, but none of the names were that surprising either. Guys like Drew McIntyre, Evan Bourne and Curt Hawks are all talented wrestlers, but the reality is if you’re not in a featured role on television then you’re expendable.
If you work for WWE you’re doing well financially, but there is no second game in town. While companies like Tna Wrestling and Ring of Honor are surviving, a lot of their talent are also working indy shows as ways to make money. Tna had house shows this past weekend with 200 people attending the events. There are many indy shows every weekend that do better than that. They may survive the year,...

We are a month removed from WrestleMania season, a time of the WWE year that is drenched with hype and prediction and potential. Heading into Extreme Rules, the card seems like it could be good and there is potential for some of the matches to really turn some heads. So let’s get into this review shall we?
The pre-show for Extreme Rules consisted of an “expert panel” featuring Josh Matthews, Booker T, Alex Riley and Sheamus and they discussed the upcoming event and the matches booked upon it. We then went to ringside for the pre-show match.
Extreme Rules Pre-show Match – WeeLC Match – Hornswoggle vs. El Torito
What the hell is a WeeLC match, you may ask. Well, I asked the same damn thing. Is it a match in which combatants can use chairs, ladders and urine to defeat their opponents? No, it isn’t, though that sure would have been a spectacle.

Welcome, one and all, to this week’s results and review write up on Nxt.
This week we start things off with the Nxt Women’s Champion, Paige, defending her title against the veteran main roster talent of Natalya. The fans seem pumped up for this match, and I am too, these two women are two of the most talented female wrestlers on the WWE roster today. The match itself is one that allows both women to show their abilities and the technical side of their repertoire. Paige and Nattie mix it up with chain wrestling and holds, with some nice pin attempts and counters which are always a sight for sore eyes for any wrestling fan in today’s product. Even though both women are baby-face workers, they use the competitive nature of their wrestling backgrounds as a way to use aggressive submission holds and moves against each other...

Hosted by The Miz, the compilation features every Money in the Bank Ladder Match in history. The match debuted at WrestleMania 21 in 2005, quickly becoming a WrestleMania tradition and in 2010 proved so popular that it was given its own annual PPV event. Several top Superstars have been Money in the Bank winners including John Cena, Kane, Edge, Cm Punk (twice!), Rob Van Dam and many more. 11 of the first 12 winners have used the match as a springboard to winning a championship, and several times the match has helped a Superstar who has never win a World Championship break through to claim their first. Much like the Royal Rumble Match, the Money in the Bank match represents a golden opportunity for a Superstar to achieve immortality, and its entire lineage is presented here.
It is nice to see this match receive its own box-set release. The “Money in the Bank” concept...

First off, let me apologize for no Raw thoughts this week. I haven’t been feeling that well lately. That’s no excuse for not having content up. But I just want to let you know what’s going on.
Raw definitely saw a lot of interesting things. We saw interactions between Randy Orton and Shawn Michaels setting up Hell in a Cell. Punk beat the clock and put himself in a handicap match with Ryback and Paul Heyman in Satan’s structure. Plus, we got great matches from Daniel Bryan and Alberto del Rio and a great tag team title match between the Rhodes family against Rollins and Reigns of the Shield.
The title change this past Monday definitely shook up the landscape of WWE. The tag division is getting focused on once again as the Usos are looking for their shot against the new gatekeepers. Along with that...

When the Main Event was relaunched last year, reports were that Ion Television , specifically said they didn’t want it to become another Superstars. Apparently one year later, that plan has gone we have to wonder if the Wednesday night program will go the way of the dodo? Remember when they would build matches on Main Event with video packages having one featured contest? Now, it just seems like another show. If you need any illustration that this happened, check out this week’s episode from Columbus, Ohio.
We begin the night with Josh Matthews and Alex Riley at the announce desk. Riley’s arm is in a sling apparently after having shoulder surgery. I guess the Miz isn’t coming back anytime soon.

Welcome back to the Nxt reviews, this week’s show starts with a promo video hyping Fandango appearing at tonight’s Nxt taping. Faaaaaan-daaaaaan-goooooo.
We head to ringside as the ring announcer introduces Summer Rae and Fandango for a mixed tag team match. Johnny Curtis is back in Nxt, a fact I’m sure he isn’t exactly giddy about. Emma makes her way out, in new ring attire, with her chosen partner for the night, Santino Marella. Oh dear. The fans, for some reason I can’t put my finger on anymore, pop loud for Santino. Santino speed walks and Emma does it too. The fans, before anything has really happened, chant “this is awesome”. Proof that there’s still some steam in the Santino train yet. Santino poses for the crowd and Fandango retorts with a dance move of two. The match from then on is merely a...

Do you remember Wrestlemania 27? Most people do, but then when they are asked to recount what they remember most about the big dance they invariably say the brutality of the Triple H-Undertaker fight, or when the Rock Rock Bottomed Cena. Well, this is not an article about either of those things. This is an article about a man who actually won the WWE Championship Main Event at Wrestlemania (albeit with a bit of help from the Rock) who now finds himself being knocked out by the Big Show and getting chewed out by Triple H and his wife for a living.
I speak, of course, of the Miz.
Since that great night at Wrestlemania 27 it hasn’t exactly been salad days for the Awesome One. He lost the title at Extreme Rules and after losing the rematch at Over the Limit, lost to his apprentice Alex Riley at Capitol Punishment.

It’s been one of those weeks in WWE where things haven’t been looking the greatest. The Raw rating was the the lowest since December, and maybe the powers that be might want to rethink their strategy.
People in Stamford may tell you that it’s due to one person’s inability to get over, but it’s much, much deeper than that. Instead of going into a long diatribe, I will show you what the problem is and how in the same company things are done better. Let’s look at this week’s editions of WWE Main Event and Nxt.

This past Monday on Raw, the roster rose up against their corporate oppressors to help out Daniel Bryan battle against the Shield. The ripple effects of this and the treatment of Dusty Rhodes carried over into the Main Event and gave hints of crossing over to future events of Nxt as well. Let’s talk about the Main Event first.
This week Main Event came from my surrogate hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio . Alex Riley, subbing for the decimated Miz thanks to Randy Orton, sat alongside Josh Matthews to call the action. Interesting enough, they did not replay the footage of the attack on Monday.
The action begins with the spiritual son of Curt Hennig (Dolph Ziggler) versus the biological son of the WWE Hall of Famer Curtis Axel. The third-generation athlete came out along with Paul Heyman in a wheelchair with Ryback following behind. It’s really interesting to see...

WWE's annual "Night of Champions" show has arrived, and there is one person noticeably missing from the card. After losing the WWE Championship at "SummerSlam" in August, John Cena is on the shelf, recovering from injury. That's why Triple H, acting as the new evil corporate honcho, has christened Randy Orton as WWE Champion and the new face of the company.
The show is headlined by Daniel Bryan getting his WWE Title rematch against Orton, after weeks of insults and attacks by the extended McMahon family. Now's the time for the company to show they actually have faith in Bryan being the top guy for a while. It only seems fair as he's one of the most talented wrestlers on the planet and arguably the most popular one at the moment.
The scheduled card for the show is below:Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan for the WWE ChampionshipCM Punk vs.

After Monday’s Raw, the corporate machine has really made an impact on the WWE roster. With the breakdown of the world’s largest athlete and the firing of Cody Rhodes, it definitely seems to be a theme of the wrong place wrong time with the new regime. And that carried over strangely to Main Event and Nxt as weird booking was in effect.
Josh Matthews welcomes us to Minneapolis, Minnesota alongside the returning Alex Riley. I love Riley in this role. He really does a great job in getting the sports analogies much like Jim Ross. We actually get a double dose this week as he commentates Nxt as well.

With all the over-the-top McMahon craziness from Monday night, people may gloss over the Wednesday night offering of the Main Event and Nxt. But in reality it is still without a doubt the best one-two punch of WWE produced programming all week. Especially this week as we get a double dose of crazy, sexy and cool with Divas Champion Aj Lee. Plus, we see an awesome two out of three falls match with Antonio Césaro and Sami Zayn. Let us begin with this week’s Main Event.
The show begins with a solid six man tag with the Usos and Kofi Kingston versus The Shield. Everybody was on point as both trios gave it their all. At one point, the babyfaces did an amazing triple dive on the Hounds of Justice. The match had great back-and-forth between the two sides. Kofi Kingston definitely looks the best since his return to the WWE.

Since their debut in November 2012, The Shield has definitely changed the landscape of the WWE. Rollins, Reigns and Ambrose have brought justice to the developmental system by making first impressions all the more important. However, in recent weeks, it seemed the three have taken a backseat to other storylines and showed vulnerability piling up losses. This week justice looks to be a priority again on this week’s Main Event and Nxt.
Let’s start with the first of two appearances on this weeks edition of The Main Event. The show begins with a six man tag rematch from last week’s Monday Night Raw as the Usos and Mark Henry battle The Shield. Really solid opening contest with good back and forth between the two trios. The babyfaces start off really hot dominating until the first commercial break and then it switches as the Hounds of Justice take control.

The Main Event and Nxt this week showed a very European flavor with double duty from Antonio Césaro. The former Us champion showed why, despite popular opinion, he is not boring. Hopefully his future will change soon enough. And he will be at the level that we all know he deserves. A card-carrying example of this was this week’s Main Event featured contest as Antonio versus Sheamus.
The match between the two men was a smash mouth back-and-forth contest. There was a segment in which Antonio hit a European uppercut as Sheamus was coming off the top rope with a shoulder block, which was a thing of beauty. The Celtic warrior was definitely trying to get the very bare-bones Cesaro over to management. But I think the office just sees him as that mechanic that can work with anybody. Nothing more. Nothing less. As sad as that is to say.

This week’s editions of the WWE Main Event and Nxt had many similarities. These included of all people, Justin Gabriel and multi-man featured match ups. Which one was the better show? I will let you decide.
The Main Event used its format well as the show began with a Battle Royal featuring everyone on the Superstars crew competing for an Ic title shot later in the episode. The current champion came Wade Barrett out and chastised all the men that were in the ring. That was until The Great Khali came out along with Hornswoggle getting his groove on with Natalya when of course the Punjabi Playboy comes out and enters the fray. Somehow, Wade is shocked by this? Barrett then goes to the back and prepares for his title defense later on in the night.
The Battle Royal itself was okay considering the participants. It didn’t feel like it really mattered , though.

First off, let me apologize for my review being a day or two later than it normally is. It appears that I have somewhat of a small following starting since I started writing this column (my page views have increased significantly) and I apologize to anyone who was wondering what I thought about Monday’s episode. I enjoyed last night’s episode for the most part but there were a few clunkers segments and one Really, Really bad segment (a segment so bad even Cole and Lawler buried it).
The one theme that was constant last night was honoring the memory of William “Paul Bearer” Moody. Moody passed away last week and he will be missed by everyone who has ever watched professional wrestling. No matter what Era you started watching during, chances are, you saw Paul Bearer. I started watching wrestling during May ’97 and remember a blonde-haired Paul Bearer shouting “Kane Is Alive,...
