In another Romford Film Festival pre-chat, Kevin talks to director Jamie Effros, who helmed the short Big George, which screened at this year’s festival.
When a middle-aged actor gains too much pandemic weight to pull off his survival gig as a George Clooney impersonator, he finds himself trying to justify to his nine-year-old daughter— and to himself— why he’s still chasing his dream.

We already know that the process of getting a pilot to series is difficult.
We also know that even when a major network commissions a pilot for a series they're considering, most of them don't get greenlit for series.
So can you imagine how difficult it might be for an independent pilot to get seen by networks and find it's way to series?
SeriesFest is a non-profit organization dedicated to championing artists at the forefront of episodic storytelling.
Each June, SeriesFest culminates in a highly-curated and celebrated Denver-based festival and marketplace.
Dedicated to showcasing innovative episodic content, the annual festival also includes a musical performance and network screening at the world-renowned Red Rocks Amphitheatre, in-competition independent pilot screenings, panels, workshops, live reads, parties and network television premieres.
This year, Stevie Wonder played Red Rocks for the first time ever in conjunction with SeriesFest, and Usher joined him on stage. So,...

God is a Verb Written by Gavin Broady Directed by Chad Lindsey Hook & Eye Theater, The Actors Fund Art Center, NYC November 4-November 21, 2015
Gavin Broady and the Hook and Eye Theater company’s outstanding new play God is a Verb invites audiences to step out of the box and into the geodesic dome. This bold, visually and intellectually exciting production revolves around quirky theorist, designer, and inventor R. Buckminster Fuller (1895-1983), but it is assertively not, as the program reminds us, a biographical piece. Instead, billed as an absurdist comedy, it takes place within its subject's mind, focusing on his decades-long World Game Project but skillfully interweaving the personal and the political, the individual and the global, throughout its 100 compelling minutes.
The arrival of new World Game Project member Ida (Hannah Hartmann) provides entry into the world of Fuller, always referred to only as the Professor and played in turn...

Project Name: The Messengers
Asking For: $20,000 on Kickstarter
Amount Raised Thus Far (At Time Of Post): $12,762
Days Remaining In Campaign (At Time Of Post): 8
Description: The Messengers is a web series about a young couple adjusting to life in the gentrified part of Brooklyn. That, on its own, sounds like a web series idea we've heard a million times, but luckily, The Messengers has a twist. Its heroes, Liza and James, are contract killers who must carry out hits across the borough. Each episode will bring Liza and James to some yuppie haven (a brunch restaurant, a Fairway supermarket, a yoga class, etc.), where they must fit in while also successfully taking out each of their targets. It's "Grosse Pointe Blank meets Girls, or Louie meets Mr. and Mrs. Smith," according to the project's Kickstarter description.
Creator Jamie Effros, who also co-stars as James, gives more details about...
