Hedda (Gabler) Adapted by Matt Minnicino Directed by Joseph Michael Parks Presented by Wandering Bark Theatre Company At Irt Theater, NYC September 23-October 8, 2016
Henrik Ibsen's dramatic critique of bourgeois domesticity, Hedda Gabler, which premiered in 1891, remains probably his most often revived work. Hedda is still going strong 125 years later, now reincarnated in a fleet, fluid refresh written by Matt Minnicino and directed by Joseph Mitchell Parks, who played Lucius in 2015's inventive and memorable Titus Andronicus for the New York Shakespeare Exchange. In a play in which the name that someone is called signals ownership (or independence) and degrees of intimacy, Minnicino has rendered the protagonist's unmarried, titular name a parenthetical: Hedda (Gabler). When the play begins, Hedda (Valerie Redd) is more properly known (propriety being another of the play's thematic touchstones) as Hedda Tesman, having married ernest historian George Tesman (Kyle Schaefer), a "paragon of acceptability." George's rival,...

Broadchurch star Matthew Gravelle has spoken about filming Joe Miller's trial.
The actor - who plays the killer on ITV's crime drama - said that it was "a strange experience" working on the show's second series as he was kept away from the other actors.
He told The Sun: "It was a strange experience because I was kept away from the other actors for the first scenes. But I then found I was keeping myself away from people quite a bit.
"It worked well because it increased the tension. When we finally filmed the verdict scenes and the actor playing the court clerk said, 'Do you find the defendant, Joseph Michael Miller, guilty or not guilty?' my heart was racing. I felt like I really was on trial.
Gravelle also revealed that the cast filmed both verdicts in order to keep the real outcome a surprise.

Titus Andronicus Adapted and Directed by Ross Williams Written by William Shakespeare New York Shakespeare Exchange at Here 145 6th Avenue, New York, NY 10013 January 22-February 8, 2015
The New York Shakespeare Exchange has its finger in more than one pie, and not all of them are, as in Titus Andronicus, filled with human flesh. In addition to its current production of Shakespeare’s gory early crowd-pleaser, the group created The Sonnet Project, which develops a short film shot in a “cultural/historic” NYC location for each sonnet. The results can be viewed online or through a dedicated mobile app (available for Ios or Android). It also runs periodic pub crawls called ShakesBEER, which we can personally recommend as a fun way to experience a few new drinking establishments in the City accompanied by themed scenes or mash-ups from the Bard’s dramatic canon.
Titus follows the increasingly brutal conflict between the title...

The stars are aligning—everyone in Hollywood is getting a hair makeover! Brooklyn Decker, Mindy Kaling, and Jessica Chastain all debuted bold new 'dos over the past few days. Decker, 27, unveiled a freshly chopped bob via her Instagram page on Tuesday, Jan. 20. While posing in a Represent T-shirt featuring the blonde beauty making a goofy face (the proceeds go to charity), the model-turned-actress added a thank you to her hair colorists, Rona O'Connor and Joseph Michael, for her shortened and brightened tresses. As Deadline reported last Friday, Paradigm has confirmed that agents Adam Kanter and Martin Spencer have joined the agency after their abrupt exits from Resolution. Word had raced last week that this was happening, as the two agents did not want to take paycuts from their low-seven-figure salaries. The two joined Jeff Berg last year shortly after he left ICM to launch Resolution, and those agents came from CAA. At Paradigm, they should feel right at home alongside former CAA cohorts Bob Bookman, Ken Stovitz, Rand Holston and most recently Manny Nunez. Related: Resolution Agents Martin Spencer, Adam Kanter Exiting; Paradigm Next Stop? So now, the big question is which clients will join them in the move. Here are the ones I’m hearing are most likely to make the jump to Paradigm: Stuart Beattie, Stalingrad helmer Fedor Bondarchuk, Joe Johnston, Mark Steven Johnson, Malcolm Lee, Rob Minkoff, Evan and Shea Mirzai,...

Based largely off of the first half of George R.R. Martin’s behemoth of a book, A Storm of Swords (which is longer than the entirety of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy!), the third season of HBO’s Game of Thrones brings all of the plot lines, character beats, and thematic developments from the first two years to a climatic head.
And as the show’s lingering questions are answered and bombshell revelations are dropped, this column (It Is Known: An Analysis of Thrones) will help wade viewers and book-lovers both through the narrative overload that will be at hand. What it won’t do, however, is spoil the story; the hope and intent is elucidation, not ruination.
Given the death, destruction, and – gasp – hope that await in the next seven episodes, such illumination will be needed.
It is known.

Alan Moore, the legendary comics malcontent and wizard (really), has teamed with Occupy Comics, a group of comic book creators who have joined forces to support the Occupy Wall Street protestors. It's said the pen is mightier than the sword, but is the wand? Perhaps we'll now find out.
Among the other writers and artists participating are Mike Allred, Shannon Wheeler, Dean Haspiel, Charlie Adlard, Marc Andreyko, J. M. DeMatteis, Joseph Michael Linsner, Steve Niles, Tim Seeley, Ben Templesmith, Amanda Palmer, Darick Robertson and David Lloyd, with whom Moore created the Ows fave V for Vendetta.
As a show of support, Occupy Comics is creating a Kickstarter-funded anthology that will be "a time capsule of the passions and emotions driving the movement" and will "tell the stories of the people who are out there putting themselves at risk for an idea."

Marvel Comics' "Wolverine & Black Cat : Claws 2" #1, available July 6, 2011, is written by Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, with illustrations and cover by Joseph Michael Linsner :
"...Canadian-born superhero 'Logan' (aka 'Wolverine') and the beautiful 'Felicia Hardy' (aka 'Black Cat'), have barely had time to catch their breath from defeating the villainous mastermind 'Arcade' and his sidekick 'White Rabbit' when the two evil schemers find an escape from their exile in 'The Savage Land' and an entryway into revenge..."

Marvel Comics' "Wolverine & Black Cat: Claws 2" #3, available September 2011, is written by James Palmiotti, with illustrations and cover by Joseph Michael Linsner:
"...the savage, sexy follow-up to 'Claws' concludes with no prisoners taken nor quarter given! Fan favorites 'Wolverine' and 'Black Cat' may well be the sharpest knives in the drawer in more ways than one and aren't ones to be messed with, but that doesn't stop arch-villain 'Arcade' and 'The White Rabbit' from sending them into a dangerous, dystopian future. Not ones to be put out by anything as paltry as killer robots, horrific mutant beasts and 'Martian' soldiers, the two taloned toughs and their ally 'Killraven' fight to return to their own time, but as their window to escape begins to close will their exceptional skills and peerless prowess be enough to save them?..."
