Cynthia Parsons McDaniel started her career as a reporter for the
Boston Globe covering arts and entertainment while studying journalism
and photography at Northeastern University. She then became a
correspondent for them while studying drama, film and photography at
the University of London.
She has had articles published in leading magazines such as Newsweek, Elle Decor, Elle, American Photographer, and InStyle covering film, television, photography, architecture, music, fashion, and interior design. She's contributed to four books "A Hedonist's Guide to Life," "Directors on Directing," "A History of the Cannes Film Festival," and "Artists Design Furniture"
She has 25 years of experience both on the publicity and media side. Doing personal pr and film publicity campaigns for accomplished actors and directors and writers such as Bryan Batt, Heather Graham, Paul Bettany, Jane Krakowski, Matthew Modine, Cate Blanchett, Olivia D'Abo, Rosanna Arquette, Beverly D'Angelo, Jeff Bridges, Ed Burns, Michael Caine, Coen Brothers, Daniel Day-Lewis, Faye Dunaway, Lauren Bacall, Stephen Frears, Morgan Freeman, Jean-Luc Godard, Federico Fellini, Julianne Moore, Peter Ustinov, Carrie Fisher and Lina Wertmuller. She worked as a unit publicist on both independent and studio films in London, Rome, Budapest, Berlin and Paris, as well as overseeing press for the European Film Awards and the Florence Film Festival. She then moved back to New York in order to oversee publicity and marketing as Director of East Coast Publicity for the Cannon Film Group.
She then went to New Line Cinema as Director of Public Relations. She was responsible for supervising Oscar campaigns, managing feature release premiere campaigns on the East Coast and organizing movie campaigns including book and soundtrack tie-ins. She was in charge of hiring and overseeing the unit publicists and photographers on films in production both internationally and domestically.
As a television writer and producer at NBC, she joined "Later With Bob Costas," where she was nominated for an Emmy. Responsible for producing shows that featured actors, producers, directors, journalists and authors, she secured interviews with celebrities that were rarely seen on television.
She was Director of Public Relations at the William Morris Agency, where she was in charge of publicity, television bookings and organizing events. As the world's largest and oldest literary and talent agency, WMA has over 3,000 clients in the areas of film, television, theater, music, commercials, public appearances and new media.
She was a Vice President at Gramercy Pictures, a division of Polygram, where she was in charge of East Coast publicity including Oscar and Golden Globe campaigns as well as acquisition and development.
She was the special projects editor for seven years at InStyle magazine, published by Time Inc., a division of Time Warner. She planned events for major film festivals and awards shows including the Oscars and the Golden Globes including the creation of celebrity story ideas then creating events to then raise visibility of the magazine including the creation of gift bags to coincide with screenings, dinners and cocktail parties for specific talent. This involved incorporating new beauty and hair products as well as music and movie CDS and DVDS.
She has organized events for BermanBraun, Radio City Music Hall, Vanity Fair, Town & Country, Veranda and House Beautiful, Men's Vogue, Women's Health Magazine, CBS Masterworks, Versailles, Elektra Records, the Museum of Natural History, the Actors Studio and Bloomingdale's. She was the Board President of the Drama Dept an Off-Broadway theater company.
She was the Assistant Features Editor and Magazine Editor at the New York Daily News prior to starting her own marketing, public relations and events company in the areas of music, film, books, television and new media. She wrote a monthly entertainment column for BettyConfidential.Com and is currently a contributing editor to The Fashion Journal and columnist for Short and Sweet NYC. She is a founding member of the Soho House in New York.
