Days after booking her dream gig as “acting front person” of Skid Row, Lzzy Hale penned a statement to fans about why the job and the glam metal band means so much to her.
“I started listening Skid Row when I was a teenager growing up on the east coast in central Pennsylvania,” Hale wrote on social media. “They were one of the Only bands at that time that truly bridged the gap for my love of 80s big choruses and riffs, but had the same poignant dirt and grime...

Nearly 30 years have passed since Skid Row unceremoniously gave Sebastian Bach the ol’ rattlesnake shake, replacing him with a revolving door of unremarkable frontmen. Now the door has finally opened to a singer who could inject some wild youthfulness into the band: Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale. The catch is, the vocalist, known for her powerful voice and onstage attitude, will front the band for four dates only.
Skid Row and Hale announced the news jointly on Instagram on Wednesday. Hale will be filling in for those dates, since the group...

Purveyors of their own distinctive, genre-blurring sound “Thrash Grass”, The Native Howl has released their gritty new single and official music video for “Mercy” featuring Lzzy Hale of Halestorm (via Sumerian Records). With foreboding, foot-stomping rhythm, and the band’s raw intensity paired with Lzzy’s inimitable vocals, “Mercy” is bound to rattle listeners down to the bone. When asked about today’s release, the band shared:
“‘Mercy’ was written as our original Thrash Grass anthem, and to have our vocal hero Lzzy Hale singing on it is nothing short of a dream come true!
‘Mercy’ subtly tells the story of infamous Boston gangster Whitey Bulger, and the dichotomy of dark and light between him and his disgraced politician brother William. While pulling from additional themes of organized religion and corruption, the music bed’s growth in intensity throughout attempts to paint the process of all evil and wrong-doing slowly being brought to light.

Recently, we had the amazing opportunity to catch up with rockers Halestorm at New York Comic Con 2023. The band made an appearance at Nycc in support of their new graphic novel “Hyde Manor” available now from Z2 Comics.
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the 2012 EP Hello, It’s Mz Hyde and its ensuing LP, The Strange Case Of…, the Hyde Manor graphic novel depicts the members of Halestorm encountering sinister doppelgangers of themselves. Within the decrepit halls of Hyde Manor, mirror reflections independently talk back, and photographs transform to reveal sordid prophecies, leading the band to slowly succumb to madness while recording a new album. The tale creaks and twists with doom-filled revelations, perfectly tied to Halestorm’s scorching discography. Twins Brittany and Brianna Winner (the Twin Soul series), artist Sara Scalia, cover artist Alison Sampson, and colorist DJ Alonso weave a tale of the celebrated group as they seek...

Lzzy Hale made a cameo during Gwar’s set at the Palladium Times Square in New York City on October 13th for a performance of their collaborative track “The Cutter.”
The Halestorm frontwoman reprised her role as her Scumdog alter-ego Clitaurus Maximus from Gwar’s 2022 album The New Dark Ages, on which she sang a duet with Blöthar the Berserker on “The Cutter.”
For the NYC rendition of the tune, Hale came out in the appropriate garb, donning battle armor and wielding a giant sword. From there, she stole the show as Clitaurus Maximus, singing centerstage while hoisting her blade, power-metal style.
Gwar took to social media to sing her praises following the show.
“We are not easily impressed,” the band wrote on Facebook, “but the mighty Lzzy Hale aka Clitaurus Maximus making an appearance for ‘The Cutter’ at our show in NYC was almost as satisfying as making your...

Halestorm have teamed up with country singer Ashley McBryde for a new version of the band’s “Terrible Things.”
The Back from the Dead ballad is well-suited for a duet, and the mainly acoustic instrumentation sits well against McBryde’s voice. Overall the new rendition is true to the original, though the soaring vocal arrangement takes the song to new emotional heights.
“’Terrible Things’ is a song about hope and forgiveness of one’s self, and this world we live in,” said Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale via a press release. “To elevate the heart of this track we asked the baddest woman in Nashville, Ashley McBryde, to lend her incredible voice. I’m so in awe of her power and am so grateful to have her join us! I know the message will resonate and inspire you.”

When Lzzy Hale first met Ashley McBryde, the Halestorm singer presented her with a gift that sartorially summed up the hippie and headbanger sides of the Arkansas native’s personality: a leather jacket with country fringe, heavy metal studs, and a monogram on the lining that read: “Ashley Fucking McBryde.”

Nita Strauss, who recently rejoined Alice Cooper’s band as lead guitarist, has announced a new solo album. The set, titled The Call of the Void, will drop on July 7th via Sumerian Records.
Strauss explained of the album’s new title in a press release, “Have you ever been at the top of a high building and had the fleeting thought, ‘I could jump right now?’ This feeling is sometimes called ‘The Call of the Void,’ also known as ‘high place phenomenon.’ It’s not a suicidal impulse, rather the exact opposite — a subconscious decision to live your life, to step back from the ledge, and take control. As researcher April Smith aptly put it: ‘An urge to jump affirms the urge to live.'”

Fox’s hit dramedy Glee returns tomorrow after its long winter hiatus.
After combing through the archives, I’ve chosen the 10 best covers throughout the show’s four-season run.
One of Glee’s best attributes is its ability to put a story with a song, giving it more power than a radio can. If a song gets the appropriate arrangement, a compelling back story and powerful pipes, the combination can be overwhelming and memorable.
Take a look — and a listen — to the top 10 best Glee songs ever. Consider this your essential Glee playlist:
10. Flo Rida’s “Whistle” (as performed in season four, episode eight: “Thanksgiving”)
The most recent song on the list, “Whistle” shows us that The Dalton Academy Warblers can exist without the beloved Blaine Anderson (Darren Criss) at the helm. This rendition of Flo Rida’s overtly sexual ditty at Sectionals appropriately displays...

So, this was what happened on The Glee Project this week!
See you all for the finale!
Oh, all right, other stuff happened too...
It’s Actability week on The Glee Project. Aside from gratuitous shirtlessness, there were fisticuffs, melodrama and a shocking surprise ending.
The Homework Assignment is "Addicted to love" by Robert Palmer. Only Michael has heard it and he seems delighted. Lily makes a disparaging comment about how "it’s so 80’s" which guarantees her removal from Snicks’ Christmas card list. Dianna Agron is the Celebrity Judge. And for an additional twist, as they are performing, she will hold up a flashcard with an emotion on it that they have to portray while singing.
Michael ends up winning for his determined face. I didn’t really see how he was better than Aylin, but I was happy he got a W. The song of the week is Pink’s "Perfect.

Between all that singing, dancing, and pairing into every romantic combination imaginable, there’s sometimes room for (usually mediocre) acting on Glee. However, the judges haven’t seemed to take acting ability into consideration up until now, making this week pretty crucial. I don’t know about you, but I think it would be important to make sure a person can act before giving them a role on a TV show.
Homework Assignment: “Addicted To Love” by Robert Palmer
As an added twist, guest mentor Dianna Argon held up cards during the performance with certain emotions for each contestant to portray while singing. Michael had to act determined, while Lily got scared, Blake got angry, Aylin got anxious, and Ali got excited, although for her that didn’t require any acting at all. They all did a pretty good job, and Michael finally got his first homework win.
