"We got one option – we fight." Paramount has released a trailer for an emotional and gritty drama about brothers titled Jungleland, the latest from talented filmmaker Max Winkler (of Ceremony and Flower). A reluctant bare-knuckle boxer and his manager / brother must travel across the country for one last fight to pay off a debt to a mob boss, but an unexpected travel companion exposes the cracks in their bond along the way. Charlie Hunnam and Jack O'Connell star as the brothers Stan and Lion, with an exquisite cast featuring Jonathan Majors, Jessica Barden, Fran Kranz, John Cullum, Owen Burke, as well as Meredith Holzman. This is one hell of a trailer, also a showcase for the stunning cinematography by Dp Damián García. A strong reminder that Winkler is a very good filmmaker and I hope he keeps making more. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Max Winkler's Jungleland, from...

Comedy Central has picked up a 16-episode seventh season of Emmy-winning series Drunk History. The renewal is part of a first-look, all-media deal the network has signed with series’ co-creator Derek Waters.
In partnership with Comedy Central Productions, the network’s new studio-production arm, Waters will develop premium comedy content for TV and digital platforms via his Be Nice or Leave production company.
“Derek Waters has repeatedly proven his comedic genius as a creator, actor, and director across multiple platforms through our hit, Drunk History. That series merely scratches the surface of his creative output, and we’re so excited to develop even more projects with him through Comedy Central Productions,” said Sarah Babineau and Jonas Larsen, Co-Heads of Original Content, Comedy Central.
Boundary-pushing Drunk History is nominated for three Emmy Awards this year – Outstanding Variety Sketch Series, Derek Waters for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series, and Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming.

Paramount Sets First Look Deal With Adam McKay & Will Ferrell’s Gary Sanchez & Gloria Sanchez Labels
Exclusive: Paramount Pictures has set Gary Sanchez Productions and sister label Gloria Sanchez into a new three-year first look feature deal. Gary Sanchez Productions is led by principals Will Ferrell and Adam McKay with producer Jessica Elbaum heading Gloria Sanchez.
This comes as Paramount percolates the Demetri Martin scripted Will, and the English language remake of the German comedy Toni Erdmann, with Lisa Cholodenko to direct a vehicle for Kristen Wiig.
Ferrell and McKay once had a deal under the prior regime at Paramount but left the studio. Is “Ghosted” coming back?
That’s a question on viewers’ minds as upfronts week comes to a close, with Fox, ABC, NBC, CBS and The CW all having announced their fall programming schedules as of Thursday. ‘Cause some of those slates have holes in them, meaning the statuses of almost half a dozen shows on broadcast television are still up in the air.
Look, we can accept the fact that not every series will be saved like “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” — not every show should be. But come on, networks — minus ABC and The CW, who have already killed or renewed everything they’re going to — fans need to hear one way or another whether their favorite programs will be returning this fall, especially for ones that have a crazy-devoted fanbase.

Looks like “La to Vegas” won’t be taking off on Fox’s fall 2018-19 slate after all. The network has officially canceled the Dylan McDermott-led series after just one season.
An individual with knowledge of the decision tells TheWrap that, while the network was “proud of the show,” with the addition of “Thursday Night Football,” as well as new comedies on Fridays and Sundays, and the large amount of returning shows next season, Fox’s schedule couldn’t accommodate a second season of the Will Ferrell and Adam McKay-produced comedy.
Along with McDermott, the cast of “La to Vegas” includes Kim Matula, Ed Weeks, Nathan Lee Graham, Olivia Macklin and Peter Stormare.

Fox’s single-camera airplane comedy series La To Vegas has been permanently grounded as the network has opted not to renew it for a second season.
As Deadline exclusively reported last week, Fox had been looking to get La to Vegas executive producer Will Ferrell to appear in the Season 2 premiere in order to create buzz around the comedy’s return. I hear Ferrell was open to possibly guest starring in an episode next season but would not commit to doing the Season 2 opener. While not the crucial factor, that, along with the network’s reduced shelf space because of the addition of Thursday Night Football, contributed to Fox’s decision to cancel the comedy starring Dylan McDermott.
When discussing the then-pending renewal decision on the bubble freshman comedy on Fox’s upfront call last week, the network chairman Dana Walden noted that series creator/exec producer Lon Zimmet and...

Exclusive: When discussing the pending renewal decision on bubble freshman comedy La to Vegas, the network chairman Dana Walden this morning noted that series creator/exec producer Lon Zimmet and executive producer Steve Levitan are currently working on Season 2 ideas and that “if we can’t find a way to make noise, we won’t do (a second season)” of the Dylan McDermott series.
I hear one of the top ideas that is being considered to create buzz around La to Vegas‘s potential return is have series executive producer Will Ferrell appear in the Season 2 premiere.
Ferrell and McDermott previously starred together in the 2012 comedy feature The Campaign.
The move echoes Great News executive producer Tina Fey’s commitment to guest star in the opening Season 2 episodes, which last May helped secure the then-bubble midseason comedy a second-season renewal by NBC.

"You a cop?" "Not exactly." Screen Gems has unveiled the first official trailer for a film titled Proud Mary, starring the always awesome Taraji P. Henson as an assassin. This is slated for release in early January, which is never a good sign, but I'm hopeful for something entertaining. We don't know much about this, except that Henson meets a young boy on a hit gone wrong and she decides to watch over him. The full cast includes Neal McDonough, Danny Glover, Xander Berkeley, Billy Brown, Margaret Avery, Jahi Di'Allo Winston, and Owen Burke. This is a very fun, clever trailer, without much dialogue in it (yet), relying entirely on the music, visuals, and some kick ass action. Damn! I'm looking forward to this already. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Babak Najafi's Proud Mary, originally from Buzzfeed: In the film, Oscar-nominated actress Taraji P. Henson is Mary,...

Victoria, BC. The fifth episode of "Gracepoint," the one airing on Fox this Thursday (October 30) night, features an absolutely dynamic scene between Kevin Zegers and Nick Nolte, exactly the kind of superb acting that's capable of carrying "Gracepoint" even if it remains a nearly beat-for-beat copy of "Broadchurch." [Two more episodes of similarity before, as promised, things deviate in Episode 7.] Of course, I didn't necessarily know about the scene or when it would fit into the "Gracepoint" order when I sat down with Zegers in May in a leaky tent next to the British Columbia beach being used to shoot promotional images. Instead, we talked about the approach Zegers was taking to his character, fledgling journalist Owen Burke, that would make him different from his "Broadchurch" equivalent." Specifically, Zegers emphasized his willingness to play Owen as a possible suspect in the murder of Danny Solano, making him at least a plausible killer, if not a likely suspect. When I met with Zegers...

One of the few times in their careers, Adam Sandler may take over a role for Mark Wahlberg. Vulture reports that Sandler is in talks to star opposite Will Ferrell in Three Mississippi, a comedy about two rival families who have an annual tackle football game at Thanksgiving. The concept was created by Owen Burke and Adam McKay, who hoped to re-create the same banter between Alec Baldwin and Wahlberg from The Departed. Baldwin is on board to play the father in the film.
Wahlberg has had to drop out to star in Peter Berg's next film Lone Survivor. After Battleship bombed at the box office, Universal would not fund Survivor unless a major star was on board to market it. Wahlberg is good at comedy, so it is a shame he won't be able to re-team with Ferrell. Sandler movies have been crap as of late, so this could be a wonderful pairing.

A new film project with big names including Will Ferrell and Alec Baldwin already attached to it is set to gear up production in the next year. The film, titled, ‘Three Mississippi,’ is a comedy about rival families in their annual Thanksgiving football game. Vulture reports that originally, Mark Wahlberg was attached to the film as well, since Will Ferrell’s producing partners, Owen Burke and Adam McKay, wanted to find a way to reteam Wahlberg with Alec Baldwin in hopes of recreating the pair’s “clever banter” they shared in Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-winning ‘The Departed.’ However, it now seems that a series of unexpected new projects have caused both scheduling and funding problems, effectively preventing Wahlberg from being in the film. Replacing Wahlberg is Hollywood funnyman Adam Sandler, who will play Alec Baldwin’s son. The two are part of the family that typically loses the heated Thanksgiving tackle football match.

We hear that Adam Sandler is in talks to star opposite Will Ferrell in Three Mississippi, a comedy from 30 Rock executive producer Robert Carlock and Friends executive producer Scott Silveri. But Sandler isn't merely being added to the film; he will be replacing Mark Wahlberg in the tale of two rival families who have an annual tackle football game at Thanksgiving — with one family (Wahlberg’s) the perennial loser. Originally code-named “Turkey Bowl,” the Warner Bros. project came about after Ferrell’s producing partners, Owen Burke and Adam McKay, wanted to find a way to reteam Alec Baldwin and Mark Wahlberg and re-create their clever banter from The Departed. This got Ferrell aboard. Soon after, when Baldwin joined and agreed to play Wahlberg’s father, the project quickly gathered steam. But then three (mostly) unexpected things happened this spring: First, late last February, Universal started to suspect that Battleship would...
