The BBC has suspended one of its staffers after reports surfaced that he had allegedly asked a teenager for sexually explicit photos.
The allegations were first reported in U.K. tabloid The Sun on Friday. The mother of the teenager claimed her child used the alleged 35,000 pounds (about $44,934) received from the staffer to fund an addiction to crack cocaine.
“All I want is for this man to stop paying my child for sexual pictures and stop him funding my child’s drug habit,” she told the publication, adding that the requests for photos began when her child was 17.
The staffer hasn’t been publicly named yet, but presenters Jeremy Vine, Rylan Clark and Gary Lineker took to their respective Twitter accounts to say it isn’t them. Nicky Campbell also tweeted that he reported an account that claimed he was the one who requested the photos.

Ian McKellen, David Mitchell, and Neil Gaiman are among the celebrities to have had their “blue ticks” reinstated on Twitter.
It has only been days since stars including Ricky Gervais and Richard Osman were reacting to having their Twitter “blue ticks” removed and already many of them have had the verification badge restored.
Earlier this week, Twitter CEO Elon Musk finally removed the “legacy verified” marks on celebrity accounts. Even high-profile artists such as Beyoncé had their ticks revoked.
Users now have to pay a monthly fee in order to be “verified” on the social media platform.
Days later, on Sunday (23 April), many celebrities were confused to see that their ticks had, in fact, been reinstated.
Many rushed to Twitter to clarify that they had not paid for the blue tick.

Channel 4 has received nearly 1,300 Ofcom complaints over its controversial show Naked Education.
Presented by Anna Richardson and created by the team behind Naked Attraction, the educational show about body positivity aired on Channel 4 earlier this month.
In the first episode, a group of 14 to 16-year-olds were taught about body hair, with the segment concluding with four adults stripping off in front of them to show diversity in other people’s bodies.
The four adults also spoke to the teenagers about their own issues with body image and the topic of pubic hair.
The series was hotly debated on social media and daytime TV, with Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway saying: “There’s something about the physicality of a stranger being naked in front of a teenager which I just feel uncomfortable about, because of all the things that we read about.”

Joe Lycett took aim at Rupert Murdoch during his opening monologue on Late Night Lycett on Friday (7 April).
Reports broke earlier this week that the billionaire media mogul and Ann Lesley Smith had called off their engagement just two weeks after announcing their plans to marry.
“Rupert Murdoch’s had a big week, he’s broken off his engagement,” Lycett told his live studio audience.
“People say she was only after his money but I think that’s unfair, she may have just really been turned on by a flaccid, yellow, 92-year-old c**k.”
After the audience reacted with shocked laughs at the explicit joke, Lycett responded: “What? What’s he gonna do to me?”
After a pause, he predicted: “F***ing everything”.
Murdoch, who has been married four times previously, announced his engagement to the former dental hygienist, 66, last month.
“I was very nervous. I dreaded falling in love...

Eddie Marsan admitted to being fearful of “white working-class men” while growing up in east London.
The Ray Donovan actor was born into a working-class family in Bethnal Green; his father was a lorry driver and his mother was a school dinner lady.
On the Channel 4 News podcast Ways To Change The World With Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Marsan said there was “a lot of violence” when he was growing up, “a lot of criminality”.
“The estate where I was raised, most of the fathers had court orders not to come near the house.”
Guru-Murthy asked the actor if he remembered being “afraid of men” as a young boy.
“I remember being afraid of white working-class men,” the actor responded.
“It’s very interesting... there are other actors from the same background like Danny Dyer or Ray Winstone who are much more successful and much more charismatic in portraying those men,...

The broadcaster broke down in tears on Saturday (1 April) while telling Absolute Radio listeners that Richards was involved in a “very big road accident” earlier this week.

Fighting back tears, Skinner said: “Gareth was in a very big road accident this week and it’s not looking great for Gareth. He is in hospital and he’s fighting but it’s not looking great.”

Ireland will be competing in the Eurovision Song Contest this year without the services of John Lydon, after the former Sex Pistols singer failed last night in his bid to represent the country.
One of the wildest men of British music in his 1970s punk heyday, Lydon, aged 67, had entered the Irish leg of the competition with his song ‘Hawaii’, inspired by his wife Nora who suffers from Alzheimer’s.
Prior to competing, Lydon – possibly one of the more unexpected names to ever appear on a Eurovision bid – had explained he wanted to raise awareness of the disease.
But after he and five other acts performed on Ireland’s Late Late Show show on Friday night, voting viewers, as well as national and international juries of music experts, elected the band Wild Youth instead, and it will be them competing in Liverpool in May.
