Simon Cowell has said that The X Factor will “more likely than not” return to screens in 2024.
The record executive, best known for judging The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, said he is often asked when the talent contest will return and will only bring it back if he could “go back to where the show started”.
The X Factor first aired in 2004 and catapulted artists such as One Direction, Little Mix and Leona Lewis to stardom, before concluding in 2018.
In an interview with The Sun, Cowell said: “The funny thing is that when young people approach me on the street, all they want to know is when X Factor is coming back.
“They all watch it on YouTube. When we stopped the show, I genuinely thought there was no need for it — that everyone would be signed from YouTube.”

Liam Payne, bless his heart, popped up on Logan Paul’s podcast and earned a robust round of ire from One Direction fans with some rather wild comments about his former bandmates and his solo career.
From a tabloid perspective, the spiciest part of Payne’s Impaulsive interview was ostensibly his comments about inter-One Direction drama. He shared a story about an argument he had with an unnamed bandmate, whom Payne said “threw me up a wall” (Payne then claimed he told this person, “If you don’t remove those...

Many stars change their names for fame, and Becky G is just another member of this celebrity squad. It's hard to imagine the brunette beauty going by anything other than her catchy stage name but the 22-year-old was born in Inglewood, CA, with the full name (drum roll please) Rebbeca Marie Gomez! And her real name isn't the only thing that will surprise you about this Latin American superstar.
Rebbeca Marie Gomez transformed into Becky G when she was just 9 years old, after her family was forced to move into her grandparents' garage due to financial difficulties. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Becky G refers to this moment as her mid-life crisis. "That's when I felt like 'Ok, I gotta get my life together. What am I gonna do?' I pushed that on myself at a younger age than the average kid because at the time my family had lost our home.

Some artists just scream “superstar,” and that’s the vibe you get from UK pop songstress Dua Lipa. The 21-year-old has been ruling the charts overseas with her single “Hotter Than Hell,” but her recent track, “Blow Your Mind (Mwah),” hits even harder. Today, Dua drops the acoustic version of the latter, because even the best parties sometimes need an intermission.
Though it has the word “acoustic” in its title, don’t be fooled. It’s hardly your regularly scheduled acoustic number with a basic guitar in the background. The song is filled with a fun piano line and handclaps, and Dua Lipa’s vocals are as powerful as always. She somehow doesn’t lose any intensity despite the stylistic differences between the two, but that’s probably part of the reason she’s one of the most exciting artists currently in the pop game.

We're annoyed with The X Factor. No, not because of Mason Noise, or because Sinitta wasn't at Judges' Houses, or because of Simon Cowell's eye-wateringly high waistline. Nope, we're annoyed with The X Factor because we're not getting Halloween Week this year.
There's nothing scarier than a hopeful singer nervously belting out a classic while dressed in lycra and cobwebs, but we're going to be denied this pleasure as the contestants instead face the "this is me" theme for the first live show on Saturday. But that doesn't stop us from carving a pumpkin, popping on a witch's hat and reliving these best ever Halloween Week performances:
1. 'E.T.' - Little Mix (2011)

It always starts the same way. The opening few piano notes of something slow by Coldplay or Labrinth. A contestant swallows hard, then starts talking about their sick mum/child/dog. And suddenly, before Cheryl can even grab a tissue, you're sat on your sofa blubbing like a toddler.
Yes: The X Factor has given us some of the most heartbreaking moments on TV over the years. And from hysterics at Judges' Houses to Simon Cowell's own rare, salty tears, here are 6 moments that shattered us, ruined us and gave us every feeling possible.
1. Gamu Gate
The so-called 'Gamu Gate' has become a central part of X Factor lore. 18-year-old Zimbabwe-born Gamu Nhengu had given flawless performances throughout the whole show, right through to her rendition of 'Cry Me Out' for Cheryl and will.i.am at Judges' Houses. Maybe it's the pressure. Or the hot stage lights. Or the tantalising proximity of Simon's high-waisted trousers. But it wouldn't be a series of The X Factor without rumours of romances. Already this year we've had the usual nudges and winks wiggling their way out from Boot Camp.
But it's only in the pressure cooker of live shows that things really start heating up - and acts inevitably turn to each other for comfort. So prepare yourself with seven of our favourite ever X Factor romances...
1. Wagner and Mary Byrne (2010)
Is it any surprise that 54-year-old, Brazilian-born Wagner turned out to be something of a ladies' man? No woman can resist a guy with bongos, and his throwback picture of himself holding a lion's tail paved the way for men posing with big cats on dating apps.

The X Factor wrapped up filming on its auditions yesterday, and you know what that means - the show's even closer to being back! And boy, what a treat we're in for if these previous auditions are anything to go by.
The audition stages always throw up some weird and wonderful acts, so we've collected just 13 of the best (and most bonkers) that remind us why we're so excited about The X Factor's return...
1. George Gerasimou (and Dermot telling him off)
Where do we even start? This is one of our favourite auditions ever. It starts off on a positive note as George explains that he has grown up since his awful try-out with Triple Trouble - but then as soon as Gary calls an early stop to the music, George kicks off big time, snarling all the while, and his mate joins him on stage to back him up.

Cher Lloyd has suggested that Rita Ora may struggle when she joins The X Factor as there's only one "golden girl" for Simon Cowell... no, not Sinitta - Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.
The former X Factor contestant revealed that she was "shocked" music mogul Cowell hired 'Poison' singer Ora for the ITV talent show.
"I was very surprised that Simon hired Rita," Lloyd told Heat magazine.
"I was shocked - that's for sure. I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing, but I guess she's young and very influential. She's definitely on trend, but we'll see..."
The 21-year-old added: "No-one is going to fill Cheryl's shoes without a fight, and anyone who knows Cheryl knows she'll always be Simon's golden girl - she won't let Rita get close to where she's at."
Lloyd was mentored by Fernandez-Versini on the show back in 2010, but the pair had a public fall-out...

It's spring, which means the days are getting longer, the trees are beginning to blossom, and all sorts of rumours have started to fly around about The X Factor's lineup.
Below we give you the 2015 Digital Spy X Factor Judges' Ladder, where we rank all their hopefuls on their chances of making it behind that table come the summer.
1. Simon Cowell
Simon Cowell is as close to a 100% confirmed as can be.
An ever-present from 2004 to 2010, Si took some time out to concentrate on the Us show, but came crawling back last year.
His return didn't push the show above Strictly in the ratings, but having signed a three-year deal in 2013, Cowell will likely stick around to try and knock his rivals off their perch.
2. Cheryl Fernandez-Versini
At one point the idea of Cheryl back on The X Factor seemed less likely than Christopher Eccleston back on Doctor Who...

Stars In Their Eyes returned to ITV tonight (Saturday January 10) after a nine-year absence from our screens - but was it any good?
The format has remained largely the same, with members of the public announcing which singer they will be impersonating before disappearing into a cloud of smoke and emerging transformed into that singer.
However, the revamped Stars In Their Eyes saw a more comedic tone employed by new host Harry Hill, who follows in the footsteps of previous hosts Leslie Crowther, Matthew Kelly and Cat Deeley.
The new version of the show sparked a great deal of discussion on Twitter, with the majority of commenters expressing their disappointment:

The X Factor judge Simon Cowell said that he's not interested in sob stories or second-rate versions of existing acts.
Speaking ahead of this week's X Factor return, the music mogul said that he will be looking for something different this year.
"You want somebody who's different from anyone else in the charts at the moment," he explained.
"I don't want to sound biased, but I think Ella Henderson is a really good example of how an artist and a show can work really well together, because we could have released her music in six months. We waited for two years, and she came sixth on the show.
"She represents everything that's great about this country, about the show, and how the label can help someone become a big, big star. I'm really proud of what she's achieved, and she's a great ambassador for the show."

Jennifer Lopez reunited with Maid in Manhattan movie co-star Tyler Posey 12 years on at the annual 2014 Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles last night (August 10).
Lopez played Posey's on-screen mother in the 2002 romantic comedy, and joined the 22-year-old actor - who was co-hosting the ceremony with Modern Family's Sarah Hyland - on stage to present an award.
The Teen Wolf star then performed a jokey skit with the 45-year-old actress and singer as he suggested: "I know we haven't seen each other since Maid In Manhattan forever ago, but I thought that if you needed a backup dancer, I'd fit. What do you think?"
He then proceeded to show off his finest dancefloor moves as Lopez looked on to quip: "If I say yes, will you stop?"
The pair were later photographed enjoying a friendly kiss and cuddle backstage, with Posey dressed in a string coconut bikini and Hawaiian skirt.

The Fault In Our Stars’ Ansel Elgort and Shailene Woodley dominated the 2014 Teen Choice Awards, taking home seven surfboards, and Selena Gomez was awarded the Ultimate Choice Award.
Maid In Manhattan Reunion
Tyler Posey and Sarah Hyland co-hosted this year’s teen-approved award show, and, though neither took home any surfboards of their own, they did provide the audience with some memorable moments. Posey, in particular, had a fun time onstage when he reunited with his Maid in Manhattan co-star Jennifer Lopez, who played his mother in the film 12 years ago. Posey greeted his on-screen mom onstage and jokingly auditioned to be her backup dancer. “If I say yes, will you stop?” Lopez responded. After Posey ran off stage, Lopez seemed flustered for a moment, exclaiming, “He’s so big!”
Lopez later posted a photo of the two backstage on Instagram, writing, “Aw, look at Ty all grown up.”

Cher Lloyd has said that she wants to confront Louis Walsh after he called her a "spoilt child".
Last year, Walsh named Lloyd as the most difficult act to work with on The X Factor, reigniting a war of words between the pair.
Speaking to Digital Spy, the singer said that she hoped her former X Factor colleague would express his feelings to her face in future.
"It's something I find very strange, especially from an older gentleman against a young girl," she said. "But I'm much older and much more experienced, so it would be good to have a conversation with him now.
"To make a comment about someone you worked with two or three years ago who was 16 years old at the time, it was a little bit unnecessary. I must be on his mind. Bless."

Demi Lovato's "Really Don't Care" music video debuted online Thursday, and it features a number of celebrity cameos. The most notable, however, comes from the singer's boyfriend, Wilmer Valderrama! The pop star, 21, cozies up to the actor, 34, in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it scene in the Lgbtq-friendly clip.
Other stars who pop up in the video include drummer Travis Barker, The Vampire Diaries'Kat Graham and Bridegroom's Shane Bitney Cone. Cher Lloyd, who lends her vocals to the track, is also featured.

Man, nothing says gay pride parade and good will and great fun like Perez Hilton and Wilmer Valderrama cameos! Demi Lovato, in a transparent offering to her Lgbt (and Jesus) fans, set her new music video "I Really Don't Care" with guest Cher Lloyd at the L.A. pride parade, which took place earlier this month. The pop star struts on a float in a suit-and-tie combo, and included some quality choreography from dancers and lip-syncers all the while. Forget the limp verse from Lloyd: there's enough perk to go around. The vid is timed to Lovato's appearance on the Logo network tonight, where she is scheduled to reveal that her grandfather was gay and out in the 1960s. The "Trailblazers" episode will honor Lgbt civil rights activists. Lovato is hitting up another pride parade this weeked in New York; I wonder what other bully (*cough* Hilton) she can feature...

Stepping out for a good cause, Demi Lovato showed up at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York City for the 13th Annual Jed Foundation Gala last night (June 5).
Always a stylish songstress, the “Heart Attack” hitmaker donned a Roberto Cavalli getup with Neil Lane bling as she presented the Jerry Greenspan Student Voice of Mental Health Award to Margaret Kramer.

A strong debut is proving elusive for Mariah Carey’s new album, “Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse.” As of Friday, it looked like “Chanteuse” will sell no more than 60,000 copies in its first week, making it the superstar’s lowest non-holiday studio album opening week in the Nielsen SoundScan era. The chart closes at midnight on Sunday. By comparison, here last studio album, 2009’s “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel,” sold 168,000 in its first week. If there’s any good news for Carey, it’s that, despite its lackluster sales, “Chanteuse” will likely debut at No. 3, the same rank as “Memoirs,” according to Billboard. Otherwise, Coldplay’s “Ghost Stories” and Brantley Gilbert’s “Just As I Am” sell enough copies to hold at No. 1 (85,000) and No. 2 (65,000). In addition to Carey—who if she surges could bow at No. 2— other debuts in the Top 10 are Austin Mahone’s Ep, “The Secret” at No.
