L.A.-based director and choreographer Ron Kellum, 45, and Tony Stovall, 42, a doctoral student in Tucson, blame a lack of highway signage and a medieval boat for their last-place finish on the season premiere of The Amazing Race. The best friends of 22 years spoke with People about their short-lived journey and which team will be the biggest threat. - Carrie BellYou went from first at the airport to last. What went wrong? The Amazing Race returned Sept. 26 and we got to chat with the first team eliminated, BFFs Ron Kellum & Tony Stovall.
Ron Kellum and Tony Stovall had a pretty good start to their Amazing Race. They were the first to arrive on the initial airplane to England, and for a while they looked like the team to beat. Unfortunately, everything went south once they got to London. They missed their exit and never made it to their destination, Stonehenge! “Unfortunately, we were in rush hour traffic in London and went 25 miles the wrong way” Ron tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively.
“Unlike here, where you can go on the overpass to turn around, there you have to go through little cities and towns to get back – so we literally went 50 miles the wrong way.”

After scoring the first tickets on the first flight to London on The Amazing Race 17, Ron Kellum, 45, and Tony Stovall, 42, quickly saw their fortunes take a turn for the worst once they landed. The best friends — and self-described navigational experts — never recovered from driving in the wrong direction looking for Stonehenge and became the first team ousted from the new season. "We just kept marveling, like, how did this happen?" Ron tells TVGuide.com. "In Boston, getting to the airport, we were the only team that didn't make a wrong turn. We get to England and it's like, I don't know my right from my left!" Find out how long they were lost for, if they completed all the tasks and if they think they jinxed themselves.
