Actor and producer Allison Williams has been gracing our screens for nearly two decades. The 35-year-old star made her acting debut in the 2004 NBC drama series "American Dreams," but her acting career didn't fully take off until she landed the role of Marnie Michaels in Lena Dunham's HBO series "Girls," which ran for six seasons from 2012 to 2017. After "Girls," Williams began acting in films, and in 2017, she portrayed the manipulative Rose Armitage in Jordan Peele's Oscar-winning film "Get Out." Following the success of "Get Out," Williams has starred in Netflix's "A Series of Unfortunate Events" and "M3GAN," among other notable works. Most recently, she can be seen alongside Jonathan Bailey and Matt Bomer in "Fellow Travelers," which hit Showtime on Oct. 27.

“The Last Kingdom” is ready for its last run.
With the debut of the feature-length film “Seven Kings Must Die” on Netflix on April 14, the epic series is wrapping up, with the fifth and final season having aired on Netflix in March 2022.
The film serves as a fitting send off to the series, which is based on the Bernard Cornwell novel series “The Saxon Stories.” Like the books, the show follows the fictional character Uhtred (played by Alexander Dreymon), a Saxon who was captured and raised by Danish invaders in England in the ninth century A.D. Uhtred is raised to live the life of a viking, but destiny puts him in the employ of the House of Wessex and King Alfred, who seeks to unite the disparate kingdoms into one country called England.

‘The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die’ (2023). Netflix Movie: epic, yes, without being spectacular
The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die is a movie directed by Edward Bazalgettestarring Alexander Dreymon, Mark Rowley and Arnas Fedaravicius.
It is based on the novel by Bernard Cornwell.
As it is becoming usual in well-known series, Netflix gives us this story that, set in The Las Kingdom, will delight the fans who enjoy the series and its great plot.
Historical novels are a hit, and thanks to authors like Bernard Cornwell, the quality of their plots and arguments were assured. Moreover, readers loved them and The Last Kingdom is a great example of this.

After Vikings, this story of Saxons and Vikings was a success in its serial format and now it comes as a two-hour episode that can be watched independently, but that you will enjoy much more if you are fans of the excellent TV series.
Is it the spectacle we were hoping?...

Warning: spoilers for The Last Kingdom seasons 1-5 and the Saxon Stories .
It’s been over a year since The Last Kingdom TV series ended, and this multi-location show with its many Aethelflaeds, Aethelreds, Aethelhelms, Aethelstans, Aelswiths and Aelfwynns (honestly just the tip of the ‘ae’ iceberg) has never been the easiest to keep straight. If you’d benefit from a reminder of where things were left and who everybody is in new feature length Netflix film Seven Kings Must Die then, you’re more than excused.
First of all, it’s important to know that the TV show ended roughly in line with events at the end of The Flame Bearer, Book 10 in Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon Stories saga. That’s when Uhtred Ragnarsson took possession of his ancestral fortress of Bebbanburg, after winning it back from his treacherous cousin Whitgar. Three further novels exist to conclude Uhtred’s story,...

There’s a ton of plot packed into this standalone movie derived from the TV series, but the deluge of detail gets steadily more absorbing
Here is a standalone feature film and final capstone in Netflix’s British-made TV series The Last Kingdom, an epic in every sense of the word that’s based on novels by Bernard Cornwell and unfolds in the 10th century, just before the Norman invasion. Even if you’ve never seen a single episode from any of the show’s previous five seasons of dramatised yet highly researched British history, you’ll probably quite like to go back and start watching the whole saga from the beginning because it gets more gripping the more you surrender to it. This is largely down to the thoughtful way it tries to present a society composed of pagan Danes and Christian Saxons – and folks who are a bit...

Set mostly in England, back before it was officially called England — and centuries before Great Britain was so much as a glint in the eye of James I — director Ed Bazalgette’s workmanlike historical epic “The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die” wraps up the events of “The Last Kingdom,” the Netfix drama series based on Bernard Cornwell’s “Saxon Tales” novels. Playing like “Game of Thrones” with more history and fewer dragons, the film opens with several smaller kingdoms, including Northumbria, Mercia and East Anglia, gearing up for a power struggle exacerbated by the recent death of Alfred the Great, king of Wessex, and worsened by the surreptitious attempts of the Danes to sow discord.

The Last Kingdom TV series (2015 – 2022) was a pretty glorious adaptation of Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon Stories. Like the books, it played merry hell with historical fact, but won fans over with action and heart. The tale of Saxon-born, Danish-raised warrior Uhtred Ragnarsson pinballing between enmity and mentorship with Saxon kings as he sought to reclaim his familial lands struck the right note between sincerity, humour and bloody action.
Over five seasons, the show covered the first ten of Cornwell’s novels before ending, which left three books unadapted. Enter: Netflix movie Seven Kings Must Die to wrap things up. We join Uhtred several years after his return to Bebbanburg, when Edward the Elder’s succession is being contested by sons Aelfweard and Aethelstan, and Danish invader Anlaf is making dangerous alliances in the north. Immediately, we’re back in the thick of it: ungrateful Saxon kings, scheming traitors and more...

In late February 2022, the cast of Netflix’s roaring historical drama, The Last Kingdom, were in icy Budapest. They were filming the final scenes of the franchise’s movie spinoff, Seven Kings Must Die. It was also the month that Putin’s Russian army invaded Ukraine, around 700 miles east of Hungary’s capital. “There are no words for a situation like that,” says Alexander Dreymon, the 40-year-old German star and producer of Seven Kings, as he recounts the influx of refugees that came through the Budapest train station. “You know, a lot of Hungarian families opened their doors to Ukrainians.” He recalls how he and his castmates lent a hand by shuttling Ukrainians to Hungarian homes. “We met a lot of people who had fled Ukraine,” he says, solemnly. “It was very moving. We would go to the train station to see if people needed rides. It’s heartbreaking. And...

There's lots of great stuff hitting streaming this week, but the debut of the Netflix film "Seven Kings Must Die" and the return of HBO Max's fourth season of "Titans" are two guaranteed to deliver high-intensity action. Fans looking to pair brutal historical epics with their watch of "Seven Kings Must Die" need to look no further than Robert Egger's Shakespearean Viking epic "The Northman" on Prime Video or Neil Marshall's Romans-vs-Picts action-adventure film "The Centurion," available on more than half a dozen streaming services. For those looking for something less bloody and closer tied to "Titans," there's always the Superman origin story series "Smallville," streaming on Hulu, or if you want to get really vintage, there's the young adult shapeshifting series "Animorphs," streaming on Prime Video. Netflix has released the first trailer for Seven Kings Must Die, a movie which continues the story of The Last Kingdom.
The Last Kingdom aired its fifth and final season on Netflix last year, but series producer Nigel Marchant said that while the last season of the show was meant to “fully conclude the series, there was always one more story that we wanted to tell,” leading to the announcement of the movie in 2021.
Alexander Dreymon stars in Seven Kings Must Die as Uhtred of Bebbanburg, who “must ride once more across a fractured kingdom with several of the series’ much-loved returning characters, as they battle alongside, and against, new allies and enemies. Britney Spears is offering an explanation about how her Instagram account was deactivated.
The singer on Friday posted a video in which she’s dancing in front of a Christmas tree, stuffing her face in a cake, smearing it all over herself, chugging some bubbly and plain ‘ol having a blast while keeping things festive. On a recent Saturday night in Hungary, just days before the official start of spring, principal photography wrapped on “Seven Kings Must Die,” the feature-length spinoff of the Netflix historical drama “The Last Kingdom,” which ranked among the most popular shows on the streaming service when its fifth and final season was released in March.
Nigel Marchant, managing director at Carnival Films, the NBCUniversal-owned production house behind “The Last Kingdom” as well as global hit “Downton Abbey,” described an “emotional” scene as cast and crew parted ways for the last time. “It was the first time we didn’t have another show that we were putting into production in Hungary,” says Marchant, who has been part of the series since production on season one began in 2014. “It really is an end of an era.”

Spoiler Alert: Do not keep reading if you have not finished Season 5 of “The Last Kingdom.”
“The Last Kingdom” is coming to an end.
Although a two-hour movie followup is currently filming, Season 5 of the Netflix historical drama wraps up the story of its central character, Uhtred of Bebbanburg, played by Alexander Dreymon, in a very satisfying way — as the sins of Uhtred’s past collide head on with his present and the future of England.
Uhtred finds himself in an unusual place at the beginning of the season — unable to be with Aethelflaed (Millie Brady), the woman he loves and the Lady of Merica, he presides over a Mercian border town at her request. But strange things are in the air, as Brida (Emily Cox) is determined to have her vengeance once and for all and the enemies of the House of Wessex are gathering.

Destiny is all! That’s the cry of Alexander Dreymon’s warrior character Uhtred in action-packed, 9th-Century medieval drama The Last Kingdom. The fifth and final season streams on Netflix March 9. Based on Bernard Cromwell’s novels, Saxon Stories, it’s set against the bloody struggle to control what would eventually become England. Uhtred, born a Saxon but kidnapped as a child and raised by Danes, is torn between different factions. Last we saw the passionate hero, he had been entrusted with caring for King Edward’s (Timothy Innes) illegitimate young son, who was being targeted by his scheming grandfather, Lord Aethelhelm (Adrian Schiller). Dreymon, who’s in Bulgaria shooting the series’ epic follow-up film, Seven Kings Must Die, gave us the low-down on just how dangerous it gets for Uhtred; the challenges of scaling a wall in full armor; and what keepsake the actor might steal from set. Badass...

“Everyone has died!” says Emily Cox, in some shock. “From season one [of The Last Kingdom], it’s just Eliza, Alex and me. Everyone else has gone!” We’re speaking on Zoom in July 2021, a month after filming wrapped on the final season of the Netflix action drama, and Cox hasn’t had much time to reflect. She went straight from playing warrior Brida to a lead role on feature film Alma & Oskar, even having to miss the wrap party with her beloved Last Kingdom co-stars.
To be one of only three original cast members still standing at the start of the last season (alongside Alexander Dreymon’s lead Uhtred and Eliza Butterworth’s pious Lady Aelswith) clearly means a lot. Cox talks about the character of Brida with affection and compassion – no easy task for a character capable of such sadism. In season five, Brida is Uhtred’s enemy. But...

When Carnival Films adapted Death of Kings (the sixth book in Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon Stories series) they – probably wisely – left out a scene in which Uhtred of Bebbanburg is drugged in a witch’s cave and sexually assaulted by a goddess of the earth. Season three had plenty going on without that little adventure. King Alfred was dying, Uhtred was cursed, Danish war lord Bloodhair was doing what Danish war lords do and vowing to make the streets run with Saxon blood… Add in seer Skade running around the place stabbing priests and the last thing required was the complication of yet another prophetess.
Excising the scene in which Uhtred seeks out ancient witch Aelfadell to hear her predictions on his future though, left The Last Kingdom without what some consider a key moment in the Saxon Stories. In the sixth book, Uhtred pretends to be Cumbraland lord Kjartan,...

Deadline is reporting that the streamer has announced the upcoming fifth season.
Alexander Dreymon, who plays Saxon warrior Uhtred of Bebbanburg, said in a statement, “Playing Uhtred for five seasons has been a wonderful journey.”

The good news for fans is that the final season is currently in production, so there should be some semblance of a conclusion when it's all said and done.
