This article contains spoilers for the "Barry" series finale.
I have a soft spot for Sally Reed (Sarah Goldberg), the aspiring diva starlet of "Barry." Sure, she's selfish and has poor judgment, but from all the past abuse she's suffered, you understand how she got like this. Unlike the rest of the cast, there's always a feeling that Sally could truly learn to be better, so it's extra disappointing that she rarely does. To paraphrase her forming teacher Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler), "She's deeply human." So, I was pleased that the series finale, "wow," gave her as happy an ending as possible.
It's important to remember Sally's backstory when viewing the finale. She fled from her abusive first husband Sam (Joe Massingill) by leaving in the middle of the night. In "wow," she repeats this after Barry declines to turn himself in. Sally had previously sworn she'd never be with a violent man again,...

The following contains spoilers for "Barry."
Sally Reed (Sarah Goldberg) had a rough go of it in "Barry" season 3. She had a brief moment on the top of the world in the fourth episode, "all the sauces," when her semi-autobiographical streaming series "Joplin" (named after her Missouri hometown) premiered to rave reviews. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to save the series from cancelation by streaming service BanShe's almighty algorithm.
Over the season's second half, a distraught Sally blew up at her assistant Natalie (D'Arcy Carden), was dropped by her agent Lindsay (Jessy Hodges), and then murdered a home invader (Anthony Molinari) in self-defense. So, she decided to leave Los Angeles entirely and go back home.
When we catch up with Sally in the season 4 premiere, "yikes," she's asleep on the flight to Joplin. So, she missed the news of Barry's arrest. When she wakes up, she checks her phone and finds...

The last time HBO’s “Barry” aired on TV, the final season of “Game of Thrones” was unfolding, Donald Trump was president of the U.S. and nobody on Earth had ever heard of “Covid-19.” It was a much simpler time!
It’s been nearly three years since Emmy winner Bill Hader last played Barry Berkman, everyone’s favorite part-time assassin and aspiring actor. Barry has successfully avoided arrest following several murders, while also growing as a thespian and dating fellow actor Sally (Sarah Goldberg), but Season 3 puts him in his most precarious position yet. Barry’s former handler, Monroe Fuches (Stephen Root), has fully turned against him. In the Season 2 finale, it’s revealed that Fuches told Barry’s acting coach, Gene M. Cousineau (Henry Winkler), that Barry killed Cousineau’s girlfriend, police officer Janice Moss (Paula Newsome), in the Season 1 finale.

The NBC comedy pilot based on the Kevin Hart film “Night School” is not moving forward at NBC, Variety has learned exclusively.
The half-hour multi-cam had originally gotten a pilot order in January, but the pandemic shutdown virtually all pilot production in March. The broadcast network then announced in June that it would resume production on most of its pilots later in the year, with “Night School” being the first pilot to resume production once it restarted.
Like the film, “Night School” follows a a unique mix of adults at a night school Ged prep class who unexpectedly bond over their shared experience and find themselves helping each other both inside and outside of the classroom. It starred Shanola Hampton in the role played by Tiffany Haddish in the film, with Josh Segarra playing the role played by Hart. The cast also included Ian Gomez, James Earl, Joe Massingill, and Collette Wolfe.

Whatever happens when Tim Tebow arrives at the training camp of his new NFL team, the New England Patriots, he's going to have a couple of Boston-area-bred actors in his camp.
Via his Twitter account on June 10, Dorchester, Mass., native Donnie Wahlberg writes, "Tim Tebow to the @patriots is awesome! A real coach & Qb, like Belichick & Brady, know the one way to make Tebow a weapon ... #ThePatriotWay!"
Wahlberg isn't alone in his enthusiasm.
Born in Lowell, Mass., Michael Chiklis -- seen last season on the CBS series "Vegas" -- is a dedicated sports fan, especially of baseball's Boston Red Sox and, of course, pro football's Patriots.
Contacted by Zap2it via Facebook, Chiklis -- who calls Patriots Qb Tom Brady a "friend" -- says he's very excited at the Tebow news.

Poor Clint Eastwood! He’s a Gran Torino old coot in a Moneyball world. You can tell his Atlanta Braves baseball scout is a coot because he talks to his prostate and mispronounces “feng shui” (with derision) and is called Gus, which is an old-coot name. You can tell it’s a Moneyball world because his fortysomething whippersnapper competition (Matthew Lillard: The Descendants, Without a Paddle) is a cartoonish asshole who uses the “Interweb” to find new players, which is Bad. (It takes a lot for a movie to make me feel sorry for Matthew Lillard, but this one gets there.) Ah, I love the smell of generational conflict in the morning! Gus has one last chance to prove himself before the team puts him out to pasture, which is gonna be tough, because he’s losing his eyesight, and how can you scout a ball player if you...

Trouble with the Curve
Directed by: Robert Lorenz
Cast: Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, Matthew Lillard, John Goodman, Joe Massingill
Running Time: 1 hr 51 mins
Rating: PG-13

Plot: An aging baseball scout (Eastwood) losing his vision receives scouting help from his daughter (Adams). He receives some competition from a rival scout (Timberlake) also interested in the same prospective player (Massingill).
Who’S It For? If you like watching Clint Eastwood in movies, then yes, he’s certainly in Trouble with the Curve; if you like watching him do great work, go watch Gran Torino again instead. How many actors could get away with a scene where they sing .You are my Sunshine. to their wife.s grave without audible audience eye-rolling? Not many, but the hoarse-voiced, glaring, grouchy old man Clint Eastwood plays in Trouble With The Curve is a great movie character in one of the best films I.ve seen this year and it’s a typically vigorous and entertaining performance from the 82-year old actor (and the first he.s starred as an actor in somebody else.s film since In The Line Of Fire directed by Wolfgang Petersen, in 1993). Trouble With The Curve is a baseball story, an old-fashioned road movie, and a father-daughter melodrama. It.s flawed and predictable but still great family entertainment filled with emotion, humor, and that terrific career-capping performance from Clint.
Eastwood plays Gus Lobel, a talent scout with the Atlanta Braves three months out from his final contract.

If you are a fan of sports-themed films you will probably really like the new poster for the Robert Lorenz-directed baseball drama Trouble with the Curve.
After we saw Clint Eastwood leaning on a fence and watching a baseball game in the first poster, now we have the film’s three main leads: Eastwood, Amy Adams, and Justin Timberlake —undersized by an empty baseball stadium.
Eastwood stars as Gus Lobel, an aging baseball scout who enlists the help of his daughter, Mickey, an associate at a high-powered Atlanta law firm, played by Amy Adams, for a scouting trip. Each makes new discoveries—revealing long-held truths about their past and present that could change their future.
Written by Randy Brown, the film also stars John Goodman, Robert Patrick, Matthew Lillard, Scott Eastwood, Joe Massingill and will be in theaters September 21st, 2012, perfect for the waning days of the 2012 Mlb regular season.

Despite Clint Eastwood suggested that Gran Torino would be his swansong as an actor, after four years Eastwood has changed his mind and jumped in front of the camera again for Trouble With The Curve.
On the trailer’s evidence, Clint wouldn’t regret his decision.
Robert Lorenz‘s new baseball drama starring Eastwood as an elderly scout joined by Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman and Robert Patrick.
Gus (Eastwood) is a famous Atlanta Braves scout facing imminent retirement due to his failing eyesight and old-fashioned methods; he heads out on a road trip to check out a hot prospect (Joe Massingill) with his longtime estranged adult daughter ( Adams) reluctantly coming along out of a ‘dysfunctional sense of responsibility’.
Written by Randy Brown, the Warner Bros. film hits theaters during baseball playoff season, September 21st, 2012.

Clint Eastwood returns this year in Trouble with the Curve, the highly-anticipated film that sees the Oscar-winning multi-hyphenate in front of the camera for the first time since 2008’s Gran Torino.
We got our first look at Eastwood alongside co-stars Amy Adams and Justin Timberlake last week, and now the first trailer has debuted over at Yahoo Movies, and it is impeccable.
The official synopsis is still yet to be released, but the basic premise sees Eastwood playing,
“an aging baseball scout, who’s losing his sight, and heads on a last road trip to Atlanta with his daughter to scout a hotshot prospect.”
Starring alongside the leading trio will be John Goodman, Matthew Lillard, Robert Patrick, and newcomer Joe Massingill.
Robert Lorenz, Eastwood’s long-time producing partner/second assistant director on the likes of Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River, and Gran Torino, makes his feature directorial debut, with a script by newcomer Randy Brown.

Days after the release date to sports drama Trouble With the Curve was moved up, the first official trailer to Clint Eastwood's new film has hit the web. The father-daughter baseball flick stars Eastwood, Amy Adams and Justin Timberlake, and marks Eastwood's first acting role since 2008's Gran Torino and 2004's Million Dollar Baby. The story centers on a baseball scout (Eastwood) who brings his daughter (Adams) on his final trip to woo a player (Joe Massingill), but things grow complicated when they meet a much younger rival scout (Timberlake). As the trailer shows, there seems to be something for

Clint Eastwood returns in front of the camera for the first time since 2008’s Gran Torino this year in Trouble with the Curve, a movie we’ve been eagerly looking forward to since it was first announced late last year.
Starring alongside him will be a very promising cast, headed up by the brilliant Amy Adams playing his daughter, as well as Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Matthew Lillard, Robert Patrick, and newcomer Joe Massingill.
And now EW have given us a great first look at Eastwood, Adams, and Timberlake ahead of its release in a few months’ time.

We've been anxiously awaiting Clint Eastwood's next film "The Trouble with the Curve" for a while now. Not only is Eastwood returning from his three-year retirement to act in a movie directed by someone else—in this case, longtime producing partner Robert Lorenz in his feature film debut—but he's also teaming up with the likes of Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake and John Goodman.
Entertainment Weekly has our first look at the film, which is due out in theaters on September 28. The two stills the outlet premiered show Eastwood getting close with his onscreen daughter (played by Adams) as well as having some male bonding time with Timberlake's character.

Clint Eastwood is never out until he says he’s out.
Following 1992′s Unforgiven, the actor and filmmaker ended his storied Western career, and that was years after closing the book on Dirty Harry.
When he made 2008′s Gran Torino, and hinted he might be done acting altogether, and seeing as he was 78 years old then, it seemed very likely. He’d already quit performing for every filmmaker except for one — himself.
But when his longtime cinematic sidekick Robert Lorenz took the helm of the family baseball drama Trouble With the Curve (in theaters Sept. 28), the iconic actor was persuaded...

Up until a couple of weeks ago, Trouble With the Curve‘s casting was, at a rather speedy clip, accruing a supporting cast that includes Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Matthew Lillard, Joe Massingill, and Robert Patrick. Although things have slowed down on the next Clint Eastwood-starrer in that brief time since, we have at least one more name to count amongst the grouping.
As Variety informs us, Matt Bush (Adventureland, Piranha 3Dd) will be coming on board as — this made me laugh, for whatever reason — “a pizza delivery boy who develops a relationship with Eastwood’s character after constantly delivering pizzas to him.” Robert Lorenz is directing all of that, while the crux of Randy Brown‘s screenplay follows Eastwood as a near-blind baseball scout who ventures off with his daughter (Adams) to check out a promising young player. (Funny, wholly fitting side note: There’s also...

Ever since Clint Eastwood first showed interest in returning to acting with Robert Lorenz‘s Trouble With the Curve, the project has been red-hot with big-name casting buzz. There were the rumors (and ensuing confirmation) that Amy Adams would replace the previously-suspected Sandra Bullock as Eastwood‘s daughter. Then came the additions of Matthew Lillard (fantastic in The Descendants) and Joe Massingill. Meanwhile, the past couple of weeks, during which Justin Timberlake and John Goodman joined the cast, have brought even more developments of their own.
We learned, too, that the project has a quick turnaround in mind (as has become customary with Eastwood-Lorenz collaborations), as the theatrical release date has been officially set for September 28. And in a recent interview promoting the newly-released Safe House (read our review of that one here), Robert Patrick revealed that he has also been added to the Trouble With the Curve cast. Between Community, The Artist, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, and this year’s Inside Llewyn Davis, I’m getting a real “John Goodman renaissance” vibe over here. That vibe feels good.
To continue this, Variety informs us that Walter has been added to the cast of Trouble With the Curve, the Clint Eastwood-led baseball drama, which also features Amy Adams, Llewyn Davis‘ Justin Timberlake, Matthew Lillard, and Joe Massingill.
Directed by Robert Lorenz and written by Randy Brown, the baseball picture centers on an old, blinding scout (Eastwood) who, with his daughter (Adams), heads to Atlanta to check out an up-and-comer. Goodman factors into all of this by playing “Pete Klein, an old-school scout and longtime friend of Eastwood’s character who still believes in the man’s ability to spot talent.”
Whatever the extent of this role may be, you can bet that I’m happy to hear Goodman...

It’s in my nature to speak too soon on many things, be they big or small. Here’s a timely case in point of the latter sort: Last night, I made the offhanded comment that Robert Lorenz‘s Clint Eastwood-starrer, Trouble With the Curve, had assembled its main cast. I don’t know, maybe it was the announcement of a release date, a slowness in casting news, or even the seemingly small nature of the picture — but I just said it.
So, as it goes, Variety now reports that a major addition has taken place: Justin Timberlake, who’s coming on board the baseball drama as “Johnny Flanagan, a former pitcher who now works as a baseball scout for the New York Yankees,” one who also happens to be “a potential love interest for [Amy] Adams.” She’s playing the daughter of Eastwood‘s increasingly blind (just go with it) baseball scout,...

Now that its main cast — Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams, Matthew Lillard, and Joe Massingill — has been rangled together, Trouble With the Curve just got a release date. As BoxOfficeMojo informs us, director Robert Lorenz and his team will, in a fashion fitting of its star, get this thing out very fast — specifically, on September 28th.
You’ve probably read the plot outline ad nauseum by this point, but a little reminder won’t hurt, now will it?. Written by Randy Brown, Curve follows an aging baseball scout (Eastwood) who, along with his daughter (Adams), makes a trip to Atlanta to take a look at an up-and-coming pitcher. Also, because this is a modern Eastwood-starrer (which require him to have some sort of affliction), his character is battling an oncoming blindness. That all sounds a little sappy — and it probably will be — but I’ve been warming up to the notion...

Trouble With The Curve, the directorial debut of Clint Eastwood’s producer partner Robert Lorenz, has been slowly building its cast since it was announced late last year. It already has Eastwood in the lead and Amy Adams in place to play his daughter. Now Warner Bros. is close to locking in Matthew Lillard and a newcomer, Joe Massingill, to join them.Curve finds Eastwood as an aging, ailing baseball scout whose vision is failing him. Intent on making one last recruiting trip to Atlanta, he uses the opportunity to take his daughter along in the hopes that they’ll reconnect.Lillard, who won plaudits for his performance in The Descendants, is now in talks to play a rival scout in the film, but The Wrap was unable to dig up details of what Massingill will be playing, assuming he 's picked. The Matthew Lillard comeback continues; EW reports that the actor, who came back in a big way last year with a supporting turn in The Descendants, is in talks to join the Clint Eastwood-starrer Trouble with the Curve. The movie follows an aging baseball scout (Eastwood) who copes with his own oncoming blindness while heading to Atlanta to scope out an up and coming player for his team. Lillard’s role will be that of a rival scout, who I assume will also be gunning for the same player, and back in November it was announced that Amy Adams would be playing Eastwood’s daughter.
The Wrap also reports that TV actor Joe Massingill, who has appeared in shows such as Glee has joined the film in an unknown role. The movie is slated to begin production in March with Robert Lorenz at the helm, who handled second unit...
