The supergroup Swedish House Mafia are to play a six-week residency in Ibiza. The house supergroup – made up of Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso – took to social media to announce the development.
They confirm through their social media post that they will play over six Sundays in July and August this year, reports ‘Female First UK’.
Swedish House Mafia wrote on Instagram: “Our first Ibiza residency in over a decade. 6 Sundays only at @ushuaiaibiza. Tickets available now in bio. See you this summer(sic)”.
This comes after Steve recently revealed the group have been in talks with Coldplay’s Chris Martin about working together again, after they remixed the Grammy-winning band’s 2011 track ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’, which samples the 70s’ hit ‘I Go to Rio’ and reached the Top 10 in the UK.
Steve recently told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “We’ve spoken to Chris Martin about it.

More than 600,000 revellers descended on Riyadh this past weekend for Soundstorm, the largest music festival in the Arab world.
Hosted by the music entertainment company Mdlbeast, Soundstorm has grow since it first debuted in 2019, contributing 118.5m to the Saudi economy and creating 16,000 jobs. Each year, the festival greets artists and audiences from around the world, this year’s headliners included Bruno Mars, David Guetta, and Peggy Gou.

In 2022, Grammy-nominated trio Swedish House Mafia – Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell – focused on the one thing they hadn’t done yet. And no, it wasn’t making their full-length comeback album, Paradise Again. The house music group known for swaggering beat-crafting and screen-worthy live stage grandeur returned to their roots — helping creatives make music at home.
The trio collaborated with in-house designers at Ikea to create OBEGRÄNSAD, a limited collection dedicated to enabling the next generation in music and digital arts to build the perfect home studio on a budget.

It took three years for music to return to Indio’s Empire Polo Club. But Covid seemed to be an afterthought this past weekend as fans flocked to each Coachella stage, mostly unmasked. Overall, the fest’s 2022 edition served as an exciting three-day celebration of live music’s resurgence, with Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, and Swedish House Mafia alongside the Weeknd topping the bill. (Kanye West’s last-minute drop-off went seemingly unnoticed.)
History was made throughout the weekend, as Eilish became the youngest headliner in history, and Pabllo Vittar the first drag queen to perform.

Yeezy is a “lifestyle” and Kanye West wants his people on board 100%. That’s the word from insiders relating to the rapper’s two-year relationship with manager Scooter Braun. The two parted ways professionally amicably this week, as reported in TMZ and Hits.
Not one to participate in the traditional tropes of the music industry, a source says West gave his core team, which includes attorney Peter Paterno, an ultimatum: to conduct all business through his Yeezy organization. A suggestion to restructure his management and bring Braun’s services in-house was turned down, though the two may continue to work on other projects together between the two companies. “They parted on good terms,” says a source.
The split comes at a challenging time for West, who says he has lined up five albums for release in five consecutive weeks in May and June — one by himself, one in collaboration with Kid Cudi,...

While speculation that a Swedish House Mafia reunion will take place next year continues to rage on, fans can at least take solace knowing that ex-shm member Steve Angello will be delivering fresh material in 2017. During his last residency show of the year for BBC 1, the producer announced that he’ll be delivering a new album next year.
Angello brought his last residency show of 2017 to an end by announcing that he’d be taking some time off from Radio 1 next year. He took the occasion to announce that an album is on the way, bringing the two hour mix to an end with his own song “Stay” featuring Saints of Valory, which is set to feature on the forthcoming record.
I’m going to be taking a break from Radio 1 next, as I’ve got a pretty busy 2017 planned. This is probably a good time to announce that there’s a new album coming.

Hardwell has unveiled a new remix over the weekend during the latest episode of his regular radio show Hardwell On Air, dropping a re-imagining of Steve Angello and Laidback Luke’s classic “Show Me Love” with Robin S.
Hardwell’s remix opens with the familiar organ melody and massive vocal hooks from the original version, but the Dutch producer crafts a high octane big room beat underneath to give the tune a more contemporary edge. The new rework opts for a restrained arrangement, allowing the percussion to gradually build up and repeat in a linear fashion. The original tune’s identity is maintained while the production is given a fresh revamp, making for a dancefloor ready update.
For long time fans, Hardwell’s new “Show Me Love” rework should come as no surprise, as a bootleg from 2009 served as the blueprint for what would go on to become a dance music classic.

The news follows up on rumors of a Swedish House Mafia reunion tour in 2017 after Proximity teased the return of dance music’s fallen stars earlier in the summer, fueling further speculation that the trio comprised of Axwell, Ingrosso and Steve Angello may indeed be getting back together.

While Edm lovers remain ever hopeful for a Swedish House Mafia reunion, we’re at least lucky enough to enjoy a plethora of projects from its founding members – Axwell /\ Ingrosso and Steve Angello’s solo music.
Axwell has taken to releasing some tracks on his own as well, like his single “Barricade” that came out earlier in the year. Now, he’s enlisted the help of rising Russian producer Shapov to deliver a powerful dance anthem titled “Belong.”
“Belong” opens with a catchy synth melody that sets the stage for what’s to come. Axwell and Shapov hold back on the drums throughout a lengthy intro, filling the mix with a rising chord sequence and soaring vocals. The drops feature pounding club beats and a nostalgic synth lead that hail back to the glory days of progressive house.

Are Swedish House Mafia planning a reunion tour? According to rumors that hit the web early this morning, they just might be. Of course, this is far from the first time that we’ve heard murmurings of a reunion, but the latest bit of information comes to us from Your Edm, who are reporting that YouTube channel Proximity teased a possible reunion for the trio, which can be seen below:
Proximity went on to add the following comment to the photo as well:
“What I can say is that I have spoke to a few people in the music industry that Swedish House Mafia is indeed coming back in 2017 for a tour that is already confirmed,” before adding “Disclaimer: But what I heard about the tour was not said or confirmed by Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, Steve Angello or their team.”

Now you can return to Tomorrowland – even if you weren’t there to begin with. Edm Machine had spared no expense in sharing the highlights of Day 1 and 2 of the festival’s 2016 edition, and now they’ve uploaded a playlist of live sets from Day 3 on SoundCloud as well.
Martin Garrix, Steve Angello, Dada Life and Oliver Heldens are among the artists whose sets on Day 3 found their way onto the 12-track playlist. Ummet Ozcan, Nervo and Nastia are some of the relatively smaller acts whose performances found their way on as well, and Paul Kalkbrenner and Nastia round it out with distinctive underground appeal.
As is usually the case with Tomorrowland Belgium, however, the electronic music community will not digest the full scope of track debuts and other festival high points until weeks after the event is over. At least the live set recordings in the SoundCloud playlist above...

I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that Avicii can’t even retire gracefully, but something about his latest controversy doesn’t quite add up. Dutch promoter Alda Events has cancelled their upcoming Swedish Journey event series after reportedly failing to receive a guarantee that the Swedish DJ/producer would be able to honor his commitments.
Swedish Journey’s original announcement billed it as an event series with a 100% Swedish talent roster. Avicii’s name appeared on the lineup alongside those of Alesso, Dada Life, John Dahlback, Steve Angello, Otto Knows and Cazzette – all of whom were to play three different cities throughout the Netherlands on July 30th.
An as-yet-unannounced surprise guest duo were also slated to perform that many speculated to be Axwell /\ Ingrosso – for what many anticipated to be Swedish House Mafia reunion seeing as how Angello himself was also booked for the event.

Electronic music fans of the southeast Us have newfound reason for excitement, as Imagine Festival has finally made its phase 2 lineup announcement. Bass music artists like Snails certainly still found placement on the phase 2 lineup announcement as well, but are outweighed by their more house-oriented counterparts.

The label’s latest release arrives today in the form of “Iwi,” a collaboration between anonymous producer That Matters and Cyprus natives Jenia and Mr. Styles that channels house music’s lively roots.
The title “Iwi” is an initialism for “I want it” – a phrase sang in the short vocal clip around which the rest of the arrangement hinges. Even though a main stage-friendly uplift in the beginning of the track gives it some degree of festival appeal, sound design elements meant to mimic the organic timbre of live instruments liken it more to the jackin’ house grooves at the heart of dance music’s celebrated heritage.

Album-accompanying music video series seem to be all the rage nowadays. Norwegian tropical house superstar Kygo just unveiled music videos for the songs “I’m in Love” and “Raging” from his debut album, Cloud Nine, and like those of Disclosure and Steve Angello‘s recent albums they appear to tell an overarching story.
The music video for “I’m in Love” accompanies the song’s plucky progression and vocals of Vincent James Morrow with a montage of footage of a couple that alternates between romantic abstractions and portrayals of more realistic scenarios – as well as clips of Kygo himself performing. The video for “Raging” depicts the same couples’ travels, using imagery that ranges from picturesque destinations to dangerous riots.
Cloud Nine had largely proven Kygo to be more than a one trick pony, and perhaps the cinematic nature of its music videos would prove it just as rich in visual concepts.

The former member of progressive house supergroup Swedish House Mafia had given us the impression that visual elements would play a significant role in the effort, and the two videos that he’s released so far certainly support that notion.
As with the videos for “The Ocean,” and “Tiger,” the one for “Prisoner” follows what appears to be a pretty well-developed story. This one, however, is set in a modern metropolis – and the scenarios it depicts keep with the criminal theme of the title.
Both videos seem to be segments of larger story arcs (like the one portrayed in the music videos for songs from Disclosure’s sophomore album, Caracal), which could be the audiovisual delivery method which Steve Angello alluded to. Either way, it’s safe to...

Steve Angello made it known that he planned to present some pretty grand audiovisual concepts with his first post-Swedish House Mafia album, Wild Youth. After revealing a visceral music video for “The Ocean” last month, the Size Records founder has now premiered the official music video for “Tiger,” which occurs to us as being quite a bit more conceptually challenging.
The video for “Tiger” opens with a Swedish phrase which ominously translates to “the journey will be easier without the weight of the past.” Serene shots tell the fantastic story of a mythical order being ravaged by cloaked specters, and like the video for “The Ocean,” the cinematographers didn’t shy away from the portrayal of graphic violence.
The closing scenes of the video for Steve Angello‘s “Tiger” is the most cryptic from a storytelling perspective, which makes us wonder if additional videos will stitch together the missing plot points.

Following hot on the heels of both Wynn Las Vegas and Marquee’s residency announcements is Hakkasan Las Vegas, one of the city’s premiere party destinations. Situated at the MGM Grand, the club has been a staple of Las Vegas nightlife for years now and as always, they continue to impress with their roster of top tier talent.
Made up of mostly returning DJs, the residency roster for 2016 boasts some of the biggest names in Edm, such as Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, The Chainsmokers, Above & Beyond, Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki and many more. Again, it’s mostly the same lineup that we saw in 2015, but given the talent that’s involved here, we’re certainly not complaining.
The full list of Hakkasan Las Vegas‘ resident artists can be found below. Take a look and let us know what you think of their roster by dropping a comment.

2016 is already shaping up to be quite the interesting year for electronic music, and by the looks of things, Steve Angello is getting a head start on playing a vital role in the movement’s transition. His first full-length album since the Swedish House Mafia split has arrived in the form of Wild Youth – and while we were thoroughly impressed enough with what he delivered for Chapter 1 of the effort, Chapter 2 ties it together with an additional layer of conceptual depth.
Angello was somewhat cryptic when he discussed with us his reasons for splitting Wild Youth into two chapters – nor did he provide any insight as to why the tracklist of Chapter 2 didn’t follow that of Chapter 1 chronologically on the full album. By what can be gleaned from what remarks he made, the decision had more to do with the visual content tied to the album than anything else.

“The Ocean” will make you feel something, trust us.
Steve Angello has been exceedingly honest about his intentions with Wild Youth; he wants to make music with emotion. It seems he’s not stopping at just music, either, as the Swedish producer has just uploaded an emotive music video for the 80’s inspired “The Ocean.” While it can be interpreted any number of ways, one thing is for certain: this will make you feel something.
Centering around the life of an Albanian Mma fighter, the music video chronicles loss, sacrifice and commitment, finishing with a rather melancholy ending. The entire thing is more than a tad cryptic, and we’re left guessing as to what exactly happened with this fighter and his family.
The uncertainty of certain plot points gives rise to innumerable storylines, and it’s in this nebulous understanding of what’s going on that the audience can pluck their own meaning.

With Miami gearing up to host one of dance music’s biggest festivals in the form of Ultra, the organizers have taken the chance to remind people of its European counterpart, aptly dubbed Ultra Europe.
Set to return to sunny Croatia this July, the official aftermovie from last year’s outing has now been released, and it serves as an excellent reminder of all the great memories that were made during Destination Ultra week, which consisted of the festival itself along with some killer yacht and beach parties.
Documenting what is officially the largest electronic music festival in Croatia’s history, this breath-taking piece of videography is certain to whet the appetites of the scores of Ultranauts preparing to make the annual pilgrimage to the Dalmatian coast later this year.
Created and directed by Charly Friedrich’s critically acclaimed Final Kid team, the nine-minute masterpiece showcases the wild array of...

There aren’t too many names in dance music as iconic as Steve Angello is. The legendary Swedish DJ/producer has been around for over a decade now, birthing some of the most timeless tracks in the genre and making up one third of supergroup Swedish House Mafia for five extraordinarily successful years before their eventual split.
Now, the artist is in the process of redefining his solo career with a solo album set to drop on January 22nd. With half of the tracks already having been released, we’ve had a good taste of what Angello’s been up to over the past couple of years, and we’re definitely happy with the results. What’s been released off of Wild Youth so far has been nothing short of fantastic, and we’re giddy with anticipation to hear what the producer has in store for us with the rest of the album.

The dismal failure of last summer’s We Are You Friends does not appear to have deterred everyone from attempting on-camera adaptations of electronic music culture. Primary Wave Entertainment has announced a new television project in development centered around DJ culture and the world of electronic music, announcing none other than Steve Angello as executive producer.
As one third of now-defunct Edm supergroup Swedish House Mafia, Angello’s electronic music credentials speak for themselves. In addition, the services of his wife and studio partner Isabel Adrian have also been enlisted – as well as music video director Gregory Alosio, Cult Collective’s Pia Lindstrom, Martin Management’s Sharlene Martin-Ludwig and Primary Wave Entertainment senior manager Ben Press.
Considering that little recent news has surfaced in regards to HBO’s Edm-oriented series, Higher – on which Jay Z, Will Smith and Calvin Harris are credited – perhaps Angello and company will be able to...
