There isn't much to work with here, so we'll just have a good time chatting about Chicago Fire Season 12 Episode 4.
Why else would the hour be titled "The Little Things" if it wasn't going to go the day-in-a-life route?
With a close-knit firehouse and multiple calls, even the little things can add up to a lot.
What do you do if you aren't invited to a friend's wedding? Well, make that two friends. That's even harder to digest.
If you're Joe Cruz, instead of addressing the situation directly, you devise silly reasons why you may not have been invited.
Sure, Brett has told everyone that she and Casey are keeping it small and personal, but Joe would fit that bill.
He'd be higher on the list than Capp or Tony, even if Tony did help her with the very cool fire effect she used on the invitations.

“What looks at first to be remarkable, bizarre, will soon reveal itself to be part of a pattern,” sings Ethan Dobson (Ben Levi Ross), a just-out-of-Princeton wünderkind, at the start of the new musical The Connector, as he lands a coveted job writing features for a legendary magazine. And though he explains that the lyric is a quote from the venerated founder of the titular magazine, what’s quickly revealed is that it’s Ethan himself who’s remarkable, bizarre, and part of a pattern we’ll soon recognize all too well.
That pattern, especially as exposed under the blazing spotlight shone by Robin Martinez (Hannah Cruz), an overlooked female Latina staffer at the magazine and the musical’s blistering narrator, is nothing less than the patriarchy. “Half the stories of the world are left unwritten/Half the stories of the world are kept unread,” Robin protests in “Cassandra,” the...

When Tonatiuh was at school, he was voted his year’s “Beach Boy,” a prank version of Miss Universe. As part of a town parade, hunky Tona was a “vision, slinking down the street,” remembers an old classmate in one of many stories being swapped at the now 30-something beach boy’s birthday party.
Things are in full swing, but Tona (Mateo Garcia Elizondo) has yet to make an appearance. He is in the quietest bedroom in the family home, struggling to get dressed for the second time. He was slowly making his way to the garden when he lost control of his bowels. Shit happens, as you might say. He is resigned to it.

When Kate Cox was forced to flee Texas after state authorities denied her pleas to terminate a potentially deadly pregnancy, it laid bare the true cost of state control over women’s reproductive health. It’s also made plain that Republicans — despite their claims to hold the moral high ground on abortion — cannot defend the policies they champion when they present real-world consequences.

When Megan Cruz downloaded TikTok in March 2020, she didn’t think much of it. “The first video that I uploaded, I was like, ‘It could be cool! I could get 10,000 followers or something!’”
550,000 followers and nearly four years later, Cruz (known to her followers as JStoobs), has become one of the most prominent voices in the online film community — and she’s started dreaming a lot bigger.
While she went to school for animation, Cruz had tabled the idea of working in the entertainment industry, instead working in the food industry before running a prominent restaurant chain’s social media. Now that she’s able to focus full-time on content creation and facilitating conversations around media, Cruz is starting a new podcast, “The Broad Perspective.”

Oscar winner Penélope Cruz was the subject of a BAFTA Life In Pictures event in London last night.
In a wide-ranging session, the Spanish actress discussed her frequent collaborations with director Pedro Almodóvar, her inspirations and advice for aspiring actors.
The Volver and Vicky Cristina Barcelona actress was also passionate in her support for the theatrical experience, despite acknowledging that her own love of film was borne out of watching movies on Betamax because there was no cinema near her childhood home.
Of her fertile collaborations with auteur Almodóvar, whom she described as “a genius”, she said: “We have this supernatural connection that, I don’t know, it’s been like a magical friendship. For Penélope Cruz, nothing can beat the experience of watching a film at the cinema.
During a “BAFTA: A Life in Pictures” conversation in London on Monday night, Cruz reflected on her over three-decade career and how the industry has evolved in that time. But one thing that the actor thinks should never change is films getting a full release in theaters, which has grown increasingly rare with the advent of streamers and the Covid-19 pandemic shutting down cinemas.
“It’s a ritual that I hope the world doesn’t lose because it is real magic,” Cruz said at the event. “The experience of watching a film in a theater can never be the same as watching it in your house with interruptions and a phone or this and that. And then it’s not sacred anymore — that time of you’re here, you turn off the phone and you...

For Enzo Ferrari, racing was a deadly passion, a terrible joy.
For director Michael Mann, the automaker and his life’s obsession make for briskly entertaining melodrama in a moment-in-time portrait focused around Ferrari and the Mille Miglia race of 1957. Adam Driver, again playing an Italian historical figure after taking on Maurizio Gucci for another major American auteur in Ridley Scott’s “House of Gucci,” stars as a grief-driven Enzo Ferrari, working to save his near-bankrupt company while trying to appease his business partner and wife, Laura. She’s played with jilted, internalized rage by Penélope Cruz in her best performance since winning an Oscar for “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.” In fact, you could argue that Laura, worn in as an old shoe and run dry by her husband’s dalliances and impulsive decision-making,...

At this point, Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan is pretty much a TV network unto himself, pumping out show after show off the back of the success of the Kevin Costner-fronted series. Well-intentioned films about marginalized people face the pitfall of reducing characters’ lives to their experience of persecution. Black characters in Hollywood’s anti-racist parables tend to stand in for a monolithic Black experience, while gay characters have often been defined solely by their sexuality. Emanuele Crialese’s autobiographical L’Immensita, a drama about a transgender preteen, Adri (Luana Giuliani), in early-’70s Italy, skirts this trap by capturing the textures and tensions of a life that’s not defined solely by anti-trans oppression.
As the film depicts with a certain resigned whimsy, Adri not only copes with routine teenage angst, but is also caught within a web of intersecting inequities, including domestic abuse, sexual harassment, and class prejudice. By turns wry and tragic, but never glib or mawkish, this is a visually rich and evocative drama about navigating the often treacherous path to adulthood.

Throughout his career, director Emanuele Crialese has focused on telling stories about migration, both literal (his gorgeous Nuovomondo chronicles an Italian family’s journey to NYC during the turn of the century) and figurative. In L’immensità, he brings both dimensions into play by telling his most personal tale yet; an autobiography of sorts, set in 1970s Rome, in which the young Andrea (Luana Giuliani) begins to question their gender identity.
Andrea’s only aid is their mother Clara, played by Penélope Cruz, who herself is going through an existential crisis. A Spanish immigrant living in Italy, Clara lives with a husband (Vincenzo Amato) who demands the loyalty and compassion from his wife that he fails to provide. Cruz, who has built an impressive body of work in four languages, gives one of her finest performances yet as a woman trapped in an unhappy marriage, trying her best to take care...

Javier Bardem is the first recipient of San Sebastian’s prestigious Donostia Award for this year’s 71st edition.
He will accept the prize, San Sebastian’s highest accolade, granted for career achievement, at the festival’s opening gala on September 22. His image will also feature on the poster of this year’s edition, unveiled today in San Sebastian.
The only surprise about Bardem’s Donostia Award is that it hasn’t come earlier. A rugby player for Spain’s national team, Bardem first came to fame as a local village hulk playing opposite his now spouse Penélope Cruz in Bigas Luna’s 1992 flamboyant social critique “Jamón, Jamón.”
Bardem wanted, however, to be an actor, not a sex symbol. Refusing to be typecast, his full international breakthrough came in 2000 thanks to a tearaway performance as gay Cuban poet Reinaldo Arenas in Julian Schnabel’s “Before Night Falls,” and in Spain,...

The rule has always remained the same: get in, do your best, never make promises and get out.
Sylvie and Stella broke this rule on Chicago Fire Season 11 Episode 20, and the effects were catastrophic.
Sylvie has always had a soft spot for children, infants especially. We never knew where that came from until the events of this episode.
That call was harrowing, and no one denies it must have been harder than most, but its reaction was disproportional.
Seeing the baby looking blue and failing to respond to every trick she tried was disheartening. Even when they rushed her to the hospital, Sylvie was four five seconds from jumping out of that ambulance and running there on foot.
The only thing she did right was let the doctors do the rest of the job and not obsess over whether the kid was okay. That way, she could protect herself emotionally by assuming everything went perfectly.

Jen Paski took aim at Sen. Ted Cruz, Gov. Greg Abbott and more Republican lawmakers on Sunday night after the Texas politicians once again offered thoughts and prayers, but no gun reform ideas, to victims of the latest mass shooting at an Allen, Texas, shopping mall.
During the latest episode of “Inside With Jen Psaki” on MSNBC, the former White House press secretary honed in on the idea of politicizing tragedy. But, she noted that those who criticize people for politicizing tragedy — which has included Cruz, Abbott and their Republican colleagues just about every time — are the ones who are actually doing so.
In light of the most recent mass shooting in Texas, Psaki first pulled up a clip of Abbott speaking to an NRA convention held in Texas last year, not long after the horrific shooting in Uvalde that killed 19 children and two adults.

Two private security guards on the set of NBC’s Chicago Fire were injured Thursday when youths broke through a barrier and drove a four-wheeler onto the drama’s Chicago set.
The incident occurred in the city’s South Loop near the downtown Fire Academy. The guards, whose names were not released, were ultimately struck by the four-wheeler. A source told Deadline that the heroic efforts by the guards prevented the Atv from reaching the cast and crew.
The youths managed to flee the scene. The guards — retired members of the Chicago Police Department — were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
The incident immediately drew chatter on Twitter on the second to last day of filming for the NBC series. The plan is to wrap Friday.

On Monday, President Joe Biden’s administration announced that it will temporarily deploy 1,500 U.S. troops to support operations at the U.S.-Mexico border. Republican lawmakers who have been clamoring for hardline action at the border for months are outraged.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) declared the deployment “ridiculous theater” while speaking to reporters on Wednesday. When asked if he felt it was theater when Trump sent troops to the border, Graham demurred. “When Donald Trump did something, it worked,” Graham said, claiming that Trump’s immigration policy...

15. The Starling Girl (Laurel Parmet; May 12)
After breaking out in Babyteeth and Little Women, Eliza Scanlen finds an impressive new starring role with The Starling Girl. Michael Frank said in his review, “Scanlen shines as Starling, playing someone much younger than herself. She brings an assurance to the role. We belive in Jem. She’s naive-yet-overconfident, isolated-yet-connected, carefree-yet-shackled by a system designed to believe the word of men much older than her. Scanlen shows all of that and more. Her performance grounds a film that risks blending together with preceding pictures, raising it above any average trappings.”

Every year, the Met Gala co-chairs are among the first to arrive at New York’s A-list affair, and this year was no different as Dua Lipa and Penélope Cruz are already in the building — both in vintage Chanel couture.
Dua Lipa is outfitted in Chanel couture from 1992, a long corseted dress in ivory wool tweed from the house’s haute couture fall-winter collection, the same one worn by supermodel Claudia Schiffer. She accessorized the look with Chanel shoes and a necklace in platinum with a diamond of over 200 carats and diamonds (cut in the proportions of the famed Tiffany diamond) along with a ring in platinum with diamonds of over 9 total carats and Tiffany & Co. Schlumberger rings.
During an interview on the red carpet with La La Anthony, a special correspondent for Vogue tonight, Dua Lipa said the bridal gown had been on her mood boards “forever.” “When the opportunity came,...

All eyes were on Penelope Cruz as she arrived at the Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City!
Cruz, 48, dazzled as she made her entrance wearing a light blue Chanel couture Spring/Summer gown from 1988, complete with a hooded veil. The dress featured gorgeous beading throughout, and a corseted bodice that came together with a sequined belt.
Cruz very much channeled Snow White in the ethereal look, with the hood covering both her shoulders and a good portion of her hair, which she had fastened into a low bun. The Spanish actress kept her accessories simple, rocking a large, diamond ring and glittering silver earrings to match. As for her glam, Cruz opted for a nude lip and subtle smokey eye.
