- Actor
Dean Allen Jones was born on April 3, 1974, to parents, Doyle, a
factory worker in Marion, North Carolina, and Bonita Jones, an
elementary school teacher in the Avery County school system. He grew up
with one brother and two sisters in western North Carolina and
graduated from Avery County High School in the summer of 1992. He went
on to study Journalism and Mass Communication with a concentration in
Advertising at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill,
obtaining a Bachelor of Art's degree in 1996. Early in Dean's childhood
he dreamed of being an author, writing many short stories, novellas and
a couple of young adult novels. He also participated in small dramatic
productions at his church. It wasn't until 1999 when Dean was cast as
the Ghost of Jacob Marley in "A Christmas Carol" did the acting bug
really take hold. He spent the next 10 years on various theatre
productions with Plumb Line Players as well as a seven year (and
holding) stint with the comedy improvisation group, The
Un-Intentionals, both based in the Raleigh/Durham area. Dean began
acting professionally in 2010 and has worked on such productions as
"The Hunger Games," "Iron Man 3" and "Homeland." Dean continues to work
diligently in the film and television industry as a character actor. He
resides in Cary, North Carolina.
