Immediately after the title The Fall of Usher, pops up a second title card. This one looks like something from a silent movie and informs us that what we are about to see is “Told in the Style & Substance of A.E. Poe by one William W. Usher”. The film then cuts to William (Riker Hill; The Sentinel Chronicles 2023: Tears in the Snow) looking directly into the camera as he addresses us. It’s a modern setting, but he talks in the style of one of Poe’s characters. His narration, as well as more title cards, will be a continuing part of the film, giving it an odd, anachronistic streak that is constantly at odds with the main story.

"You will come to despise me... and your revulsion will be rightly warranted, I swear it." Mutiny Pictures & Mill Creek Entertainment have debuted an official trailer for an indie horror creation titled The Fall of Usher, which is now available to watch on VOD and digital services at home as of this week. The film first premiered at the 2021 H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival last year, where it ended up winning Best Feature. Based on the works of famed macabre poet Edgar Allan Poe, there isn't much of a description for the film. Only this: A young man with everything to prove and nothing to lose sees his life overtaken by murder, madness and the macabre. The indie horror film stars Riker Hill, Savannah Schafer, and Spencer Korcz. There aren't many reviews of this, but it seems to be made for die-hard Edgar Allan Poe fans only. Tread carefully. Here's...

DC Comics has promoted Marie Javins to editor-in-chief following a restructuring at the company in August that put her as co-editor-in-chief alongside Michele R. Wells.
The move was announced Monday by Daniel Cherry III, senior vice president and general manager of DC Comics, to whom Javins will report.
“Marie intrinsically understands the power of comics and their unique ability to entertain and empower, which makes her a perfect choice to be DC’s next editor-in-chief,” said Cherry. “In addition to her many creative talents, she’s also incredibly committed to increasing access to this amazing industry by mentoring the next generation of comic book creators and helping them find their voices. I look forward to working with her in her new role.”

DC Comics publisher Jim Lee has revealed that 12 Years a Slave scribe John Ridley is writing a new Batman mini-series that “will have a huge impact on the rest of the line.”
The new project was announced by Lee while talking to THR about the state of DC Comics in the wake of mass layoffs at the comic book publisher. Lee didn’t go into any further detail about the mini-series or how it’ll play into what James Tynion IV is doing on the main Batman book, Tom King and Clay Mann are planning in their Batman/Catwoman maxi-series, and Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok are about to unleash in Three Jokers. While it could just as easily be marketing hyperbole, it does sound like Ridley’s series could bring some major status quo changes to the character.

WarnerMedia laid off hundreds of workers on Monday, and one of the hardest hit divisions was DC Comics, the intellectual property foundation that much of the company’s other success was based on.
According to multiple published reports at The Hollywood Reporter, The Beat, ComicBook.com and others, Editor-in-Chief Bob Harras, Executive Editor Mark Doyle, Vice President of Global Publishing Initiatives Bobbie Chase, and Senior Story Editor Brian Cunningham were among those who lost their jobs. Doyle oversaw the successful rollout of DC’s Black Label publishing initiative, and Chase headed up DC’s extremely successful young adult graphic novel line, in case you were wondering if there was any rhyme or reason to the layoffs. Jim Lee, who until very recently held the title of publisher, will continue in his duties as Chief Creative Officer.

Warner Bros.’ DC Entertainment was one of the divisions hard hit by the companywide layoffs today.
The high-profile DC departures include Bob Harras, DC Editor-In-Chief; Hank Kanalz, SVP Publishing Strategy & Support Services; Bobbie Chase, VP, Global Publishing Initiatives & Digital Strategy; Brian Cunningham, senior story editor Deadline has confirmed. Warner Bros. is not commenting. Jim Lee remains DC Chief Creative Officer.
Also impacted is Warner Bros.’ DC Universe. Once a high-flying unit that was designed to usher Warner Bros. into the streaming world, the digital platform’s original slate has been dwindling since WarnerMedia announced the launch of HBO Max following the acquisition by AT&T. As a result, DC Universe has been focusing on its core business of DC comic book and news content for fans. The DC Comics layoffs also impacted DC Universe in its evolved function as a fandom destination.

This year, I will be attending my first ever New York Comic Con with a press pass from Popoptiq.com. I am very excited and a little nervous about getting the chance to rub shoulders with 150,000+ comics, sci-fi, fantasy, anime, and video game fans. (Sorry if I forgot your specific niche.) This year, New York Comic Con is really bringing their A-game as far as panels, guests, and even afterparty opportunities. This year’s guests range from Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto to the casts and writers of upcoming genre TV shows like Sword of Shannara, Ash vs. the Evil Dead, and Legends of Tomorrow and of course, a stacked comics creator lineup from living legends like Chris Claremont and Brian K. Vaughan and relatively new stars like Batgirl artist Babs Tarr and Unbeatable Squirrel Girl and Jughead artist Erica Henderson.

"On Wednesday of last week, new Batgirl editor Brian Cunningham informed me by email that I was no longer the writer of Batgirl," Simone wrote on Twitter. But I want to give huge, huge thanks to the other creators in the bat-offices, and editors Bobbie Chase and @yourpallsmitty, champions all. "And the biggest thank you of all to you guys for supporting this book so hugely and making it a commercial and critical success. "I honestly don't have the words right now to thank you all. Gail Simone took to Twitter today to announce that she will no longer be the writer on Batgirl after having been sent an email from editor Brian Cunningham. According to her recent posts, it appears that issue #17 will be her final issue for the series, arriving shortly after the “Death of the Family” crossover wraps up next year.
The news has shocked many of DC’s loyal fans as Simone as shared a lengthy history with the character of Barbara Gordon, writing a great deal of canon for the popular member of the Bat-family in the pre-New 52 “Birds of Prey” while Barbara was still known as the wheelchair-bound Oracle.
I cannot express my disappointment at this. I think everyone is aware how important Barbara Gordon is to me, and how important it is to me that her stories be told with respect and care, both for the character and the readers.

Or as they’re calling him, simply Shazam. For years, Captain Marvel has been an odd man out. He’s one of the oldest and most powerful characters in the Dcu, but it seemed that the powers that be just didn’t seem to know where he fit in to the grand scheme of things. Now he’s back with a new look and a new direction courtesy of Geoff Johns and Gary Frank.
“With Shazam! Gary and I will be focusing on the magic hero instead of the super hero,” Johns told The Source. “For centuries, science has ruled the world, but now magic is returning. DC Comics has unveiled its new design for Shazam. Gary Frank's radical redesign debuted on the New York Post and sees the classic hero hooded and cloaked. "You'll notice that Shazam looks different from many of the other heroes we've seen in DC Comics - The New 52," editor Brian Cunningham told The Source. "That was definitely intentional. His powers come from a different place, and we wanted to see that reflected in the design. We've removed the 'circus strongman' elements from his costume. Rather than a traditional cape, he wears a cloak with a hood; there's more of a mystical, magical, fantasy feel to that." Al Snow may not have quite reached the same superstar heights as many of his pro wrestling colleagues who have gone on to acting careers, but of late he has been quickly carving out his own niche as a b-movie star. From J.O.B. Squad to hit squad, Overtime casts the ex-grappler as a hitman contending with an alien parasite and the zombies it spawns.
Synopsis:
Raph (Al Snow) and Max (John Wells) only kill bad guys, and only after their boss Sam, a high-powered attorney, has cashed a nice paycheck for getting her sleazy clients off the hook.
When Sam sends our heroes on a routine hit, they find themselves caught up in a conspiracy they never imagined. But whatever trouble they’ve gotten themselves into is nothing compared to the wrath of Raph’s wife if he doesn’t make it home in time for his son’s birthday party.
