Last year, this writer had the opportunity to attend Warner Bros. Studios’ first iteration of their “Horror Made Here” Halloween-themed celebration that took attendees all over the WB lot for a multi-media experience. For this year, though, they really upped the fun factor by streamlining the event, and embracing all these amazing properties that have done so well for both WB as well as New Line Cinema. There were Freddy Kruegers running amok, Valak was coming out of the walls, and even a few Gremlins showed up in the shadows to boot.
All in all, “Horror Made Here” was an absolutely sublime time, especially as a genre fan who grew up on so many of these properties, and I really enjoyed how WB successfully managed to bring together this small-town feel with some big-time horror icons, and if you’re in the Los Angeles area over the next few weekends,...

In making their second acquisition of the day, Bad Robot and Paramount have elected to snatch up Wunderkind, a hot-item spec written by Patrick Aison. While you’d be understood in thinking Bad Robot is a signal for aliens, space, Amblin, nostalgia, or all three, this goes with a different conceit: Nazis. [Variety]
I’ll concede that there’s something oddly Spielberg-ian about humanity’s least-liked political ideology, although I suspect this would fall more in line with Munich than Raiders of the Lost Ark. Wunderkind, a ’70s-set thriler, centers on “a young Nazi hunter with the CIA and an older Nazi hunter working for the Mossad” who find themselves “reluctantly intertwined” as they track down various followers across the planet.
Not that it’s a whole lot in the first place, but doesn’t it already sound like good stuff? If any concerns exist on my part — and I wouldn...

Another year is coming to an end. Where does the time go? Seems the older I get the faster the time goes and there is no surer sign than that of me getting into the E-Reader game.
I finally broke down and bought a Kindle this year and no the world didn’t end. In fact I am very happy I did. I will first and foremost always love the feel of a real book; the fragrance, the crisp clean pages being turned and the weight of it gently held in my hands.
The Kindle has allowed me to read the back catalogs of many authors I love that I wouldn’t have otherwise been able afford to do. Plus, a lot of publishers and authors are sending me Kindle books for review, which is a lot better than Pdf’s. As I had to print the Pdf books out.
