Steve VanReenen was born in Mishawaka, IN but raised in Rochester, MA. A self-proclaimed "Masshole," VanReenen got his start in the entertainment industry slinging sarcasm on the stand-up comedy stages of Boston, MA in the early 2000s.
In January of 2002, VanReenen began studying film and television production at the New England Institute of Art in Brookline, MA. He graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Digital Filmmaking in 2007. Although VanReenen studied an array of different aspects of filmmaking, his main concentration was screenwriting.
VanReenen was set to make the move to Los Angeles upon graduation, but the writer's strike put his dreams of moving west on the back-burner. He instead became a trolley tour guide in his home city of Boston which inspired him to co-write a yet-to-be-produced television show called "Trolleyland." It also allowed him to polish his performance chops.
VanReenen now lives in Austin, TX where he works in the transportation department on the television show "Fear the Walking Dead." He's now writing a book called "Tour Wars" based on his experiences in the tourism industry and a screenplay adaptation of a novel called "Reunion."
