Hemma Marlene Prainsack is a theater, film and media scholar from Vienna, Austria.
Her PhD thesis is dedicated to the film star Harry Piel and the sensational film in the changes between the imperial era and National Socialism (University of Vienna, 2023).
She its the author of "'How the Titanic sank'. Anti-British Propaganda in NS-Feature Films" (University of Vienna, Diploma thesis 2013). In it, she uses the production history of the anti-British feature film Titanic (Germany 1942/42) and the fate of its director Herbert Selpin (1902 - 1942) to describe the conditions for filmmakers in the Third Reich.
Between 2000 and 2020, she worked at the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) and held positions including Assistant to Head of Production/ Line Producer (The Eurovision Song Contest 2015) and production manager (Guten Morgen Österreich).
Between 2001 and 2013 she worked on numerous theatre productions at the Burgtheater in Vienna, among others with Andrea Breth and Christoph Schlingensief.
