It's hard to believe seven years have passed since Dread Central opened its doors on July 4th, 2006, declaring our independence from those who were holding us back, but alas... it is so. This past year has been stranger than most, but truth be told, that's how we like it.
Each year I personally take this time to acknowledge staffers past and present so please allow me my usual time to indulge myself. First, our foundation ... The Foywonder, Andrew Kasch, Buz Wallick, Scott Johnson, Mr. Dark, and Nomad. These cats have been here since Day One and helped build this nuthouse brick by brick. I don't care whether they contribute a lot or a little. The simple fact that they've stood by us so long always makes me realize how truly lucky and blessed we are. Gracias for your never-ending loyalty.

The series I am going to talk about today is brand-new called The Wake,...

Deadbeat - Makes You Stronger (review here) proves that sometimes death is only the start of our problems. We recently chatted with author Guy Adams about his new novel, what inspired its dark moments and what lies ahead for the Deadbeat series.
Amanda Dyar: Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to talk with us. To start off, can you tell us a little about yourself and your recent work as a writer?
Guy Adams: No problem at all, thanks for asking me!
I'm an English writer currently living in Spain because if you're going to lock yourself in your office all day, it may as well be a nice outside world you're not seeing.
I've done a real mixture of stuff over the years. I wrote a novel called The World House for Angry Robot books followed by a sequel Restoration. I've written three novels...

Amanda Dyar: Danie, thank you for taking the time to chat with us. First off, tell us a little about yourself and what paths led you to writing.
Danie Ware: I’ve always been a reader – from falling in love with Greek and Viking mythology when I was a cub to discovering Sf/F fiction as a teen. I think writing one’s own is a natural progression; it happens so organically that it’s hard to tell when the one becomes the other. Throughout my twenties I wrote reams and reams of fantasy - stories and novels and all things outlandish and wondrous. I stopped writing for a while in my...

Capcom's action game Remember Me releases on June 4th for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. We recently chatted with Dontnod Entertainment co-founder/creative director Jean-Maxime Moris about the game's unique world, creating and customizing your own combos, and tons more!

The Season 2 finale of "Grimm," entitled "Good Night, Sweet Grimm," airs tonight, and we recently had a chance to chat with Bree Turner (Rosalee) about the show's scariest creatures, the most challenging aspects of her character, and of course the gruesome finale!
Amanda Dyar: What would you say is the scariest creature so far to appear on the show?
Bree Turner: I think the scariest creature was that Mauvais Dentes that was in our Season 2 premiere with the big saber-tooth teeth. He was very scary. And I thought both the special effects makeup and the CGI on that creature were really, really some of our best.
Amanda Dyar: What would you say is one of the most challenging aspects of working on "Grimm"?
Bree Turner: Oh, the most challenging. Well, I haven't really had much experience in the genre. I did a "Masters of Horror" for Showtime.

I was convinced I was going to be a director. I wanted to learn more about an actor's process, so I enrolled in a local acting studio.

Amanda Dyar: You have worked on several amazing projects which include Jonah Hex, Daredevil, Deadpool, and Ghost Rider to name a few. How did you get started in comics, and what are you most proud of today?

Amanda Dyar: Tell us a little bit about Plague Nation (the thrilling sequel to Plague Town) and what were your inspirations for it. Why did you choose to write from the zombie standpoint?
Dana Fredsti: First off, I like the use of the word "thrilling" there. Thank you!
Plague Nation picks up where Plague Town left off. Allow me to cheat and use the copy written by the lovely folks at Titan:
The undead have been defeated in Redwood Grove, CA, but reports of similar outbreaks are coming in. What seemed to be an isolated event is turning into a pandemic. The last thing...

Tomb Raider will release for Xbox 360 and PS3 on March 5, 2013. We recently sat down with Crystal Dynamic’s Head of Studio, Darrell Gallagher, and Creative Director, Noah Hughes to get some insight into the horrors ahead.
Read on to learn why Lara Croft’s origin story is dark, gory and violent!
Amanda Dyar: The new Tomb Raider has a lot of gory deaths, blood and violence. What prompted this new direction and the need for a darker, grittier tone?
Noah Huges: One of the things that we wanted to do this time was to tell Lara's origin story, and introduce people to a more human Lara Croft. She had become an icon that was sort of invulnerable in a way and that made it harder to root for her as a character. We wanted to create a story that wasn't clear if Lara was going to succeed and survival...

Seduction of the Innocent will release on February 19, 2013. New York Times bestselling author Max Allan Collins, known for his book Road to Perdition, once again has outdone himself with Seduction of the Innocent, which blends fact and fiction in a true-thriller fashion!
Amanda Dyar: Seduction of the Innocent is an upcoming novel from yourself that focuses on the real life story of 1950s proposed ban of violent and horror-filled comic books. How did you become involved in this project, and how did you prepare for the beginning of your work?
Max Allan Collins: Seduction of the Innocent takes a fairly lighthearted approach to a serious subject, and I hope it doesn't stint on either one. The format is a Golden Age mystery -- that's the era of Rex Stout, Agatha Christie, Ellery Queen, Erle Stanley Gardner -- since the '50s setting of the novel is appropriate to that kind of story.

In the new novel Supernatural: Fresh Meat (releasing February 19th from Titan Books), Sam and Dean must solve a mystery in Sierra Nevada regarding a monster with a craving for human flesh.
We recently talked with author Alice Henderson about the book and how it ties in with "Supernatural" the television show.
Amanda Dyar: Supernatural: Fresh Meat follows Sam and Dean Winchester in a new adventure set during the events of Season 7. How will this new novel tie in with the television show, and what pleasant surprises await fans in your book?
Alice Henderson: Fresh Meat takes place earlier in Season 7. I really wanted to have Bobby in the novel and have the three of them experience an outdoor adventure together. Bobby's a great tracker, and I liked the idea of putting him and the brothers into the same wilderness area where the Donner Party met its deadly troubles.

Amanda Dyar: ZombiU was a surprise hit for the newly released Nintendo Wii U after it was announced by developer and publisher Ubisoft back at E3 2012. How will your soundtrack for the unique title help create an atmosphere that will keep Wii U owners hooked to ZombiU?
Cris Velasco: My score had one main purpose: to scare you. I used a combination of percussion, electric guitars, processed human screams, detuned carnival organs, music boxes, and a string quintet...

Halloween is almost upon us so we decided to sit down with the talented artist Scott Campbell to discuss his new book, The Great Showdowns. We also discussed his work on such video games as Psychonauts and Brutal Legend.
Amanda Dyar: The Great Showdowns is a great new book that features artwork of the greatest confrontations in cinema history. Where did the original idea for Great Showdowns originate from, and what made you decide to release your art into its own book?
Scott Campbell: The Great Showdowns began with 10 small candy sized paintings for the annual Crazy 4 Cult show at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles. A group show in which artists create work inspired by cult films. I enjoyed drawing my favorite film moments just standing around with each other. They looked like they were really enjoying themselves together because they were really quite pleased to be included in this line up of films.
