- [My mom] was diagnosed with cancer when I was six, and she stayed strong.
- At my house, we celebrate [Christmas] all month long!
- The first time I stayed home alone was when I was 12 years old. Everyone was out running errands. I was with my dogs, but I made sure the alarm system was on. I think I stayed in my room with a bat.
- I have two dogs, Pepper and Paris. I've had Pepper since I was 6 and Paris since I was 13. I have two turtles, too. And I have a fish named Gypsy-it's our mascot!
- [on returning to Twitter, Us Weekly, 2016] To turn the situation around and make it positive, I feel like it's almost my purpose to speak up about my experience so it could help somebody else. The hate is not going to stop, but I needed to make a point that you can't run away from a bully. You can't allow someone's hate to dictate your life. I want to be the voice for those people who are going through the same thing, like little African American boys and girls getting bullied at school. It wasn't just, I'm going to get back in to tweet "I had a burger today.
- [on being cyber-bullied on Twitter, Us Weekly, 2016] Everybody in the group gets online hate, but mine is different. Racism really does exist and I'm the only African American girl of the group. There are people creating Photo-shopped pictures of me getting beat as if I were a slave back in the day. I tried to ignore it at first. My way of dealing with it was to not deal with it, if that makes sense. I thought the best thing was just not to look at the comments. Even if there's one comment, it's super hurtful and it's the one that sticks with you.
- [on briefly quitting Twitter, Us Weekly, 2016] I felt like a weight had been lifted. And I got so much love. Keke Palmer, Zendaya, a bunch of my friends - they were all texting me, making sure that I was OK and giving me advice. It really did open my eyes to see that people do genuinely care about me. I don't know how many times I heard, "Normani, I'm here to support you. They came to our shows and made signs. The whole stadium was filled with posters saying, "Normani, we love you! Once Twitter was gone, I felt a lot more present, not always looking to see what people were saying about me. It was a relief.
- [on making mistakes, Cosmopolitan, 2019] There are a lot of moments where I feel like I have no room to make mistakes. I could fall down a million times, but that is not enough for me, ever. I'm gonna get back up.
- [on her hit music video, Cosmopolitan, 2019] I told the director, 'I want this to be as black as possible.' I was like, let's show black culture. Why does pop music have to be so white? Why don't we make it a little bit more me?
- [on her art and generational female black artists, Cosmopolitan, 2019] Those women before me, I wanna finish what they started...I'm gonna make whatever I do black. You'll know that I'm a black girl, even if it's on the quote unquote whitest record ever.
- [on realizing she was enough, Cosmopolitan, 2019] I'm not sure what that turning point was, but I was like, Normani is enough. You can be onstage and perform and you can be enough.
