We're annoyed with The X Factor. No, not because of Mason Noise, or because Sinitta wasn't at Judges' Houses, or because of Simon Cowell's eye-wateringly high waistline. Nope, we're annoyed with The X Factor because we're not getting Halloween Week this year.
There's nothing scarier than a hopeful singer nervously belting out a classic while dressed in lycra and cobwebs, but we're going to be denied this pleasure as the contestants instead face the "this is me" theme for the first live show on Saturday. But that doesn't stop us from carving a pumpkin, popping on a witch's hat and reliving these best ever Halloween Week performances:
1. 'E.T.' - Little Mix (2011)

Maybe it's the pressure. Or the hot stage lights. Or the tantalising proximity of Simon's high-waisted trousers. But it wouldn't be a series of The X Factor without rumours of romances. Already this year we've had the usual nudges and winks wiggling their way out from Boot Camp.
But it's only in the pressure cooker of live shows that things really start heating up - and acts inevitably turn to each other for comfort. So prepare yourself with seven of our favourite ever X Factor romances...
1. Wagner and Mary Byrne (2010)
Is it any surprise that 54-year-old, Brazilian-born Wagner turned out to be something of a ladies' man? No woman can resist a guy with bongos, and his throwback picture of himself holding a lion's tail paved the way for men posing with big cats on dating apps.
In this case, the woman he allegedly wooed was Ballyfermot's Tesco Mary, with...

The X Factor has finished its auditions and it's time for Boot Camp to begin! This year it's supersized, too, kicking off at a giant country house as Simon Cowell wanted the acts to misbehave and start coupling up, but did it happen?
And what's it really like at the fancy residence with a pool in Hertfordshire? We went along for a snoop around:
1. Everyone sings All The Time.
You'd think they'd want to save their voices, but visiting Boot Camp is like walking into an episode of Britannia High, as everyone is singing. "No-one's telling anyone to keep the noise down when they're singing," explained 16-year-old Nathaniel Landskroner. "If anything, they're just joining in because we're all singers here, we all love it."
Well, some more than others - 27-year-old Holly Johnson admitted: "I'm a bit of an old woman now, I'm like, 'Right, guys, I just need some peace'.

The X Factor hopeful Jamie Benkert has admitted that he worried about his mum when his drink driving conviction was reported in the press - but explained that he knows what to expect from fame thanks to his friend Frankie Cocozza.
Benkert - an Olly Murs lookalike who won a place in the next round of The X Factor on Saturday night's show - was banned from driving for a year in 2012 after being found over the limit in Birmingham.
Speaking to Digital Spy today, Benkert admitted that he was worried about how his mum would react to his conviction being in the news.
"That was something in my past - it happened three years ago, I didn't really think it was news," he said. "I was a bit surprised. My mum knew anyway, but the worst thing was my mum seeing that because obviously I'm out there representing my...

The X Factor final is always great in its own right, of course, but one of our favourite things about it is all the things that go with it. The baffling Lord Mayors on awkward live link-ups. The moment when Greggs tries to make the finalists' faces in pizzas.
Basically, we're a fan of the sideshow. And today we were presented with a brilliant example. Thank you, Heart Radio, and thank you, Emma Bunton, and thank you, Jamie Theakston, for introducing us to this X Factor Christmas choir.
We're not entirely sure what they'll be singing but it honestly doesn't really matter because it is such a blast from a past (well, some are more recent than others...).
But the real question is can you name them all? Give it a go and click to reveal the answers...

Jake Quickenden has been confirmed to be entering the jungle in ITV's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!.
Just four weeks ago, Jake was singing as a finalist in The X Factor before being the fifth act to be eliminated from the competition.
This got us thinking. This must be the quick(enden)est time that an X Factor finalist has found themselves on a different reality TV show so far - but which other acts traded series after attempting to secure a contract with Syco? Here they all are in order of time taken to do so.
1. Jake Quickenden (4 weeks)
Series: 2014
Finished: 12th
After reaching the Judges' Houses in 2012, Quickenden made it to the final 16 this year. He tried desperately to prove that he wasn't just a pretty face with a ripped physique, but it hasn't taken him long to get his kit off for his pre-I'm a Celebrity photoshoot.

It might be a relatively new institution, but Halloween Week on The X Factor is always guaranteed to bring us brilliant performances - and some nightmare-inducing ones, too. It was, after all, Halloween Week which brought us Gary Barlow's infamous "fag ash breath" comment.

Cher was getting all sorts of criticism for being fond of an old rap or two, so she came out on Halloween Week to prove she could sing with a performance of the belter 'Stay' by Shakespears Sister. The X Factor has helped launch the career of dozens of pop acts over the last decade. It has also given us Chico Time. You win some, you lose some.
Here is our definitive ranking of the 15 most ludicrous acts to ever grace Saturday nights on ITV.
15. Rylan
Rylan was already a regular on the reality TV circuit before The X Factor (he was a runner-up in the Sky Living monstrosity Signed By Katie Price), and he was a little bit more knowing and calculated than genuinely bonkers.
However, even if those floods of tears at Nicole Scherzinger's Judges' Houses were staged, they were staged brilliantly. The perfect I'm-mad-me contestant after a decade of near misses.
14. 2 Shoes
Charley Bird and Lucy Texeira were harmless and fairly innocuous as a pop duo. They spoke only in Essex slang ("Roll!") and insisted on calling each other "shoe", but the most ludicrous...

Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee in the hot tub with Gary Busey; Helen Flanagan weeping relentlessly in the Diary Room; and David McIntosh parading around in Those short shorts.... the possibilities for this series of Celebrity Big Brother are endless.
So, as we eagerly await for the mystery(ish) celebrity guests to enter the famous house in Elstree, we've decided to reminisce with our favourite ever star contestants below:
1. Jackie Stallone
"Yeah, Jackie," were the only two words uttered from the side of Jackie's heavily siliconed mouth as she entered the house, draped in fur and dripping in jewels. Her entrance soon became one of the most memorable moments from the entire series.
It was part-Jackie's presence, part-Jackie's face that really shocked Brigitte Nielsen back on the show in 2005 when her former mother-in-law entered the house on day five.
Fellow housemates had to refer to Jackie as the Queen Mother,...

'Player' Lee Ryan has ruffled the feathers of fellow housemates by romancing both Casey Batchelor and Jasmine Waltz on Celebrity Big Brother.
The Blue singer kissed and flirted with glamour model Casey before discarding her and turning his affections to Us actress Jasmine just one day later.
Spurned Casey cried, ashamed Lee cried and Jasmine just carried on drinking.
As we try to decipher what could possibly be happening next within this confusing love triangle, we reminisce over other unrequited love in the Celebrity Big Brother House below:
Basshunter & Katia
Swedish DJ Basshunter - real name Jonas Erik Altberg - had his heart smashed to smithereens by Ronnie Wood's ex Katia Ivanova on Celebrity Big Brother back in 2010.
The tactile twosome shared several cosy encounters in bed together, but before long Katia was calling time on their ill-fated romance due to Jonas being "too clingy" and her having a secret boyfriend on the outside.

Sam Bailey: A+
Despite being tagged as this year's "Tesco Mary", given the tag "ScrewBo" by Louis Walsh and an alarming amount of interest from Michael Bolton, Sam has managed to overcome these hurdles and genuinely be considered a contender for the title. No easy feat for an act in the dreaded Overs category.
Sam's managed to not only hit all the big notes, she's also managed to make herself look like an artist who could sell a few records. The judges can't find a flaw, her blubbing husband gets us all emotional every time and she's proving to be consistently popular in the Digital Spy polls. We'd probably hate her if she wasn't so darn nice.

X Factor series 10's Live Shows kicked off with an '80s Week theme. Joy Division, Billy Bragg, C86, Metallica and the Beastie Boys were all surprisingly snubbed as song choices in favour of Whitney, Bryan Adams and Phil Collins.
Who would ever accuse The X Factor of being predictable?
The song choices weren't the only predictable thing on Saturday night as the old Louis Walsh book of clichés was wheeled out ("This is the toughest challenge yet", "The word with you is potential", "international stars", "you've got the whole package"), and a bunch of oiled-up backing dancers and various wacky stage antics (lifts, giant boxes, wind machines) masked many a vocal sin.
Even, Dermot's embarrassing dad opening dance routine has been ditched this year. Did he draw the line at twerking? The whole show has been Barlow-fied. No joke acts. No silliness. Even Sharon Osbourne, when she was vaguely coherent,...

"Just heard about the tweet @ChrisMaloney77 sent yesterday," she wrote. "You're a very embarrassing person.

The latest computer-animated movie from Dreamworks arrives with a high pedigree, bearing a story by John Cleese, co-direction from How to Train Your Dragon's Chris Sanders and a stellar voice cast.
