Any fan of Dance Moms will recall that Maddie Ziegler was undoubtedly one of Abby Lee Miller’s favorite students. From the very first episode of the series, the choreographer championed her dancer, often putting her up on a pedestal to bring her other students down. Even after Ziegler exited the show in season 6, Miller still continued to talk about her. But talking to Ziegler would prove to be impossible since the dancer cut off communication with Miller after quitting the reality TV show.

Even though Ziegler was Miller’s star student, she couldn’t escape the toxicity of Dance Moms. Miller’s preferential treatment of the Bloody Hell star often made Ziegler the target of vitriol. Furthermore, the Aldc owner put a staggering amount of pressure on Ziegler to always win first place.

If you’re a fan of Dance Moms, you know all too well how big a deal it was when Kenzie Ziegler, Maddie Ziegler, and their mother, Melissa Gisoni, left the show in season 6. In an episode called “Melissa’s Announcement,” Gisoni broke the news to the team. As Maddie and Kenzie were members of the original Junior Elite Competition Team and a part of the reality TV show from the first episode, the trio’s farewell was an emotional one. However, the Zieglers actually tried to quit in season 3, years before they finally exited the show.

With eight seasons and 224 episodes, there is no shortage of content for Dance Moms fans to enjoy. Though the show officially ended years ago, it still has a pretty impressive viewership. Lifetime (the network that the show is home to) often airs reruns of the dance competition show. Furthermore, since most seasons of the show are currently streaming on Hulu, Dance Moms is frequently finding new audiences. However, even diehard fans may have trouble tracking down one specific episode. Season 2, Episode 9 is nearly impossible for fans to watch legally.

It’s been nearly four years since Dance Moms officially ended. Lifetime officially canceled plans for season 9 in 2020, when Abby Lee Miller was accused of racism. However, that hasn’t stopped Miller from teasing that the show could possibly find a home on a new network. Of course, we’d argue that Miller doesn’t have the clout to make that call, as Lifetime likely owns all the rights to the show. But just what is Miller up to in 2023, besides making claims about her return to reality TV?

Kenzie Ziegler is notrious for leaking her music before it officially releases. She teased a portion of her latest single, “paper” two years before the single came out. And now fans of the singer and former Dance Moms alum are anxiously awaiting a new song that she’s penned about her dad, Kurt Ziegler. According to the 18-year-old, her “daddy issues” served as the inspiration for the emotional ballad.

Kenzie first teased the song about her dad back in 2022 via her TikTok page. On Thanksgiving day, she made it clear that she wasn’t pulling any punches with her gut-wrenching lyrics. “Trust issues/ I’m soaking tissues/ Lying to my sister like I never miss you/ Say you’ll visit/ Empty promise/ God I wish that for once you’d be honest.

It’s impossible to talk about Dance Moms without mentioning Mackenzie Ziegler. The youngest member of the original cast, the talented dancer was (and remains) a clear fan-favorite. But Ziegler didn’t just have a passion for dance. She also expressed a deep interest in music throughout her tenure on the Lifetime show. But is Ziegler still making music today?
Mackenzie Ziegler | Frazer Harrison/Getty Images Mackenzie Ziegler launched her music career while on ‘Dance Moms’
Fans of Dance Moms might be hard-pressed to find a time when Ziegler wasn’t showing an interest in music. In season one, her mother (Melissa Gisoni) made it clear that her daughter was taking weekly voice lessons. In later seasons, Abby Lee Miller entered the dancer in the lip synching category of dance competitions. For example, in season 4, Ziegler performed the solo “Love Overdose,” which required her to lip synch, dance, tumble, and emote.

There were no shortage of memorable group dances throughout the eight seasons of Dance Moms. Nearly every week the Abby Lee Dance Company Junior Elite Competition Team competed a new number at a dance competition. The team’s teacher, Abby Lee Miller, always stressed the importance of the group winning. With few exceptions, the group was typically Miller’s top priority. Of course, some group dances stuck out to fans more than others. Here are five group dances that still stand out to us years later.

We couldn’t make a list about memorable group dances without including Party, Party, Party. After all, it was the group dance featured in the very first episode of Dance Moms. While it wasn’t the best group dance of all time, the costumes were super fun and the girls had a lot of energy.

Abby Lee Miller never made it a secret of just how much she favored Maddie Ziegler. From the very first episode of Dance Moms, it was abundantly clear that Miller valued Ziegler above any of her other students. Ziegler started the series at the top of Miller’s hierarchical pyramid and throughout her tenure on the show, she was consistently Miller’s “go-to” girl. But what was it about Ziegler that made her Miller’s favorite? The choreographer once explained what she felt was the secret to the dancer’s success.
Abby Lee Miller and Maddie Ziegler On ‘Dance Moms’ Abby Lee Miller constantly put Maddie Ziegler up on a pedestal
Ziegler was always the girl to beat on the Aldc Junior Elite Competition Team. Miller spent an exorbitant amount of time championing Ziegler at the expense of her other dancers. She loved The Fallout actor’s work ethic and penchant for winning dance competitions.

When Kenzie Ziegler (professionally known mononymously as Kenzie) revealed that she was releasing her latest single, “paper” on January 13, many of her fans went wild. For months, the singer had been teasing snippets of the soft ballad via her TikTok page. But while fans may have waited a bit to hear the whole song, it’s nothing compared to how long Kenzie herself waited for the deeply personal tune to be released into the world.

Maddie Ziegler has certainly put a lot of distance between her Dance Moms days. While the 20-year-old has expressed gratitude for the platform that the Lifetime show gave her, she’s also vowed never to do another reality TV show again. These days, Ziegler is hyperfocused on her acting career. In fact, she has managed to secure leading lady status in her upcoming film, Bloody Hell. But every so often Ziegler will reflect on her Dance Moms experiences and how she and her castmates were often manipulated by the show’s producers.

Ziegler was only eight when she joined the Dance Moms cast with her little sister, Kenzie Ziegler, and mom, Melissa Gisoni. The family had no idea how much their decision to do the show would change the course of their lives.

Mackenzie Ziegler, or Kenzie as she’s known professionally, is making a name for herself in the music world. The 18-year-old recently signed with a new record label, Hollywood Records, and has released two new songs. On October 21, 2022, she debuted “100 degrees”, the lead single from her upcoming album. On January 12, the singer dropped “paper.” But despite the time and effort Kenzie has put into her music career, some people have a hard time seeing her as a musician because of Dance Moms.

She also opened up about writing new music during the pandemic, and how the creativity helped her through it all.

As she slowly awakens from the “dream” of working with director Steven Spielberg on “West Side Story,” Maddie Ziegler is teasing some of the upcoming musical’s standout scenes, including the iconic “Dance at the Gym” number.
The “Dance Moms” alum stars as Velma in Spielberg’s film adaptation of the 1957 Broadway musical, about two teenagers (played by Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler) of different ethnicities, who find love in New York.
“It’s always nerve-wracking to do a remake of something, especially something so iconic, but [Spielberg] really stayed true to the 1960s, which is amazing,” Ziegler, 18, told Variety backstage last weekend at the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Festival at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena. “We had all of our costumes handmade and the full undergarments and everything they wore in the ‘60s, which was awesome.”

"Whatever you do... never say 'yes.'" Goldwyn Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie sci-fi horror adventure comedy titled Let Us In, the latest from indie genre filmmaker Craig Moss. Arriving on VOD this summer. A rash of teenagers go missing in this small town and one young girl and her best friend step in to figure out what's going on. Realizing there might be something deeper happening, Emily and Christopher might be up against forces they can't even imagine... The film stars Makenzie Moss, O'Neill Monahan, Sadie Stanley, Eric Callero, Mackenzie Ziegler, and Tobin Bell (aka Mr. Jigsaw). Actress, singer and social media influencer Mackenzie Ziegler was revealed to be the talented Tulip on Wednesday’s finale of “The Masked Dancer.” The former “Dance Moms” star finished in third place behind Diamond Mask trophy winner Gabby Douglas as Cotton Candy and runner-up Maksim Chmerkovskiy as the Sloth. Despite nailing her final routine to “Kings & Queens” by Ava Max, Mackenzie wasn’t able to earn enough votes to take home the title.

Reality TV dancing competitions collided during Wednesday night’s finale of “The Masked Dancer,” when “Dancing With the Stars” pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy was revealed to be the Season 1 runner-up, Sloth. Season 1 of “The Masked Dancer” came to a dramatic conclusion on Wednesday night’s finale, with three-time Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas being revealed as the Diamond Mask trophy winner, Cotton Candy. Despite competing against two professionally trained dancers in the finale, Gabby came out on top by incorporating a few tricks she knew the Sloth and Tulip couldn’t match — tumbling skills. Cotton Candy rocked and rolled her way through an inspirational routine to Kesha‘s version of “This is Me” and finished things off by flying through the air in a bouquet of balloons.

Dancing and singing may be a mystery to many. But it makes for good television, and the season one finale of The Masked Dancer underlined that point tonight with a big surprise finish.
Similar in many ways to its cousin, The Masked Singer, the Masked Dancer is a dance competition with a twist — celebrity guests in colorful costumes and face masks are anonymous. They are joined by masked partners and back-up dancers as they execute moves from hip-hop to salsa and jazz to tap-dancing. Some of it is poetry in motion. Other parts, not so much.
Hosted by comic Craig Robinson, with panelists Ken Jeong, Paula Abdul, Brian Austin Green and Ashley Tisdale, The Masked Dancer sprinkles clues into the dance routines, leaving the panelists room to guess the identities. *** Spoiler Alert: Do not read further if you have not seen tonight’s show. ***

“The Masked Dancer” Season 1 came to end on Wednesday night with Gabby Douglas (Cotton Candy) winning the Diamond Mask trophy. However, there was another competition going on at the judges’ table all season long that also bears mentioning: which panelist was the best guesser? Heading into the finale, both Paula Abdul and Brian Austin Green were tied at two points apiece. But with three celebrities still left to unmask — Cotton Candy, Sloth and Tulip — it was still anybody’s game. Before the confetti fell on Fox’s reality TV show, Paula ended up as the judge with the most correct guesses. So how’d she do it?

The contestants of The Masked Dancer certainly swept us off our feet all season long, but only one rose to the top. (Warning: This post contains spoilers for Wednesday’s Season 1 finale of “The Masked Dancer.”)
The first season of Fox’s “Masked Singer” spinoff “The Masked Dancer” came to a showstopping end Wednesday with a two-hour finale that revealed the identities of the three remaining contestants, one of whom was crowned the inaugural winner.
Following the first hour’s season recap and in-depth look at the clues for the Top 3 competitors — Tulip, Sloth and Cotton Candy — the 9 o’clock portion featured the trio’s final performances.
