Chithha, written and directed by S.U. Arun Kumar is a fantastic example of how one can grip the audience’s attention with the sole intention of never letting it go. The imagination fills in the gap when the violence happens offscreen, and that is easily the most terrifying aspect of this film. But beneath the surface, the film’s spirit of...

The hardworking, immensely talented, and woefully underappreciated stunt community is mourning one of their own. Taraja Ramsess, a veteran stuntman of several superhero movies such as "Black Panther," "Avengers: Infinity War," and "Black Adam" (among many other action-heavy productions) tragically passed away this past Halloween in a car accident that also claimed the lives of two daughters, Sundari and Fujibo, and his son Kisasi. Ramsess was only 41 years of age. The news was reported by local news outlet Fox-Atlanta and subsequently confirmed by Ramsess' mother Akili, who memorialized her late son and grandchildren in two heartbreaking Instagram posts.
Ramsess' career in film had stretched back to his time as a set dresser on 2009's "Halloween II," working on a number of high-profile productions such as "Fast Five," "The Walking Dead," and "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" before truly coming into his own as a prolific stunt performer. Although his contributions...

TollywoodGiven the tremendous response from audiences so far, Tollywood production houses are not only digitising previously released movies but also restoring older movies whose prints are showing wear-and-tear.Rajeswari ParasaScreenshotPost-covid, though cinema theatres reopened in the Telugu states, there was a fear among theatre owners. Will theatres ever be able to regain their previous glory, when euphoric fans crowded outside the premises and housefull audiences cheered at scenes and sang along as they watched their favourite actors on the silver screen? It was a distant dream, everyone assumed, at least for some years. Though there have been hit movies on and off, it did not really sustain the enthusiasm among viewers who love the theatre experience. In this scenario, a new trend has emerged in Tollywood – fan shows. Previously released movies, usually blockbusters, are re-released for a limited number of shows after being touched up with the latest technology. Given...

ReviewThere is a comfort in the predictability of ‘Sundari Gardens’, directed by Charlie Davis. It is the sort of solace that only a simple and gently enjoyable romcom can offer.Lakshmi PriyaAparna Balamurali in Sundari GardensThere are many facets to Sundari Mathews, Suma for short. She is a divorced single woman in her 30s who finds comfort in an occasional swig of vodka neat (or an entire bottle of wine overnight), and frets about her grey hairs and waistline. She is remarkably good at her job as a school librarian, casually directing a student who asks for Orhan Pamuk’s My Name is Red to the ‘second shelf from left, fourth row from top, seventh book from left’. She is also a cellist, a hidden talent that she springs at an unsuspecting Victor Paul (Neeraj Madhav), the new English teacher at the school. And as she walks out of her...
