I like to compare art films to baseball. There's a lot of people out there that love baseball, myself included. But there's just as many out there that don't. A lot of people find it slow and boring, not as entertaining as football if you will. And what if one day the TV stations said "Because the ratings are better, all we're showing now is football. All we're promoting is football. All you'll be able to watch is football. And if you still want to watch baseball, you'll have to figure out how to on your own time. " That's essentially what's happened with the film industry.
