Between his upcoming album, his Electric For Life tour and his record label, Garuda Music, UK trance superstar Gareth Emery has been especially busy. Not too busy, however, to devote time to what will likely be Edm’s most eccentric side project in 2016.
Emery recently unveiled a provocative side project with fellow UK trance mainstay Ashley Wallbridge called CVNT5 (pronounced either as “cunts” or as its full initialism for added comedic effect) that parodies the excess of mainstream electronic music through music, video and web content.
Before our interview with him at the Sls Hotel during Electric For Life Miami, his team asked that we avoid the topic of CVNT5. To our delight, however, Emery brought it up himself in a particularly tongue-in-cheek manner, speaking about it in the third person for the duration of the dialogue.
Among other things, Emery also mentioned a more sincere project in the works...

Footage of progressive house icon deadmau5‘ brand-new stage show has been making its rounds – first from his Governor’s Ball Performance, and then from his Bonnaroo set – and while both have been removed by mau5trap records, the demand for such videos has clearly been recognized as the most polished one yet has found its way to his fans.
This high-definition video captures an entire set he just performed at Hurricane Festival in Germany and features multiple angles as well as a full track list from the performance. Among the highlights of deadmau5′ set are an Amon Tobin-esque intro that goes by the working title “Entropy,” and a special edit of his recent Grabbitz collaboration titled “Silent Picture” that closes out his performance. As only artists as prolific as the ‘mau5 are able to, he’s comprised the set entirely of his own originals – the only (somewhat) exceptions being...

The grinning Mau5head on the front cover artwork of deadmau5’s latest release is dressed in a quirky combination of the outfits it rocked on four of the Canadian’s previous studio efforts. Following the iconic logo’s lead, new retrospective double-album, 5 Years Of Mau5 brings together the house producer’s finest musical moments from the last half-decade, alongside an additional collection of remixes from the likes of Nero, Eric Prydz, Madeon, Chuckie and Botnek. Serving well as an introduction to the 33-year old’s back catalogue for newer fans, the main tracklist of tunes is a polished line-up of memorable deadmau5 material with plenty of highlights.
In a way that requires no overexertion, the Edm maestro embraces a pop sensibility on the Greta Svabo Bech featured 2011 single “Raise Your Weapon.” The record glows with a moving, chilled quality that doesn’t strive for chart success but rests comfortably in its authenticity.

Michael Woods is back and has for us a great new progressive house track titled “Brain Went Ping,” courtesy of mau5trap Recordings. It’s a bit different than what we’re used to hearing from the producer, but it’s definitely an interesting listen.
Clocking in at just over 8 minutes, the futuristic track takes you on one hell of a trip. Full of energy and a heavy bassline, Woods’ newest creation sports fantastic production as it develops from a slow and steady techno beat to something so much more, with recurring synths guiding it along the way. It’s refreshing, unique and a definite breath of fresh air in the over-cluttered Edm scene.
Take a listen to “Brain Went Ping” below and if you like what you hear, grab it off Beatport.

We are very sad to have to report that Fifty Shades of Grey has lost its Christian Grey. Universal Pictures has announced that Charlie Hunnam has dropped out stating “….given Hunnam’s immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him to adequately prepare for the role..” A role, which we are sure is very difficult. Fans who were not too happy about Hunnman’s casting will be thrilled depending on who is chosen next. As of yet there is no word of an updated cast list but hey, at least Dakota Johnson as Anastasia is staying put…for now.

Wellington, Oct er 14 (An): DJ Deadmau5 has said that he wants Justin Biber to 'shut down' for his out-of-control brawls and antics.
The 32-year-old DJ took to Twitter to express his astonishment over Biber's latest brawl incident, saying that the 'Baby' hitmaker should grow up, put on a shirt and stay away from nightclubs, Stuff.co.nz reported.
He said that someone needs to jump on the 19-year-old singer's stage and tell him what to play.
Deadmau5 also said that if Bieber ever attacked him on his set during his performance, then he would teach Biber a lesson.
Previously Bieber had allegedly verbally attacked DJ Michael Woods at a nightclub in Pusan, South Korea, when the DJ had refused to change tracks..

After reports claiming that pop icon Justin Bieber threw a punch at a deejay manager in South Korea on Saturday (October 12), new evidence states that the teen star never engaged in any sort of physical altercation.
DJ Michael Woods tweeted on Saturday that Bieber “took a cheap shot at my tour manager” after an apparent argument over the night club’s soundtrack.
Previous reports suggest that the 19-year-old singer approached the deejay booth requesting Woods to play hip-hop and, when he was rejected, supposedly lashed out. Ben Baller, the party’s host stated that there was indeed an argument during Woods’ set, but denied that Bieber attacked anyone.
An eye witness close to the situation said that there was “no truth” to claims of an attack, noting, “Everyone had a lot of fun at the party.” Stay linked to GosipCenter for the latest updates and news on the “Biebs!”...

Accusations of bad behavior are not new to Justin Bieber and this week yet another claim was made, this time by DJ Michael Woods.
According to the UK artist, "Story is @justinbieber + his army of heavy security muscled in to the booth half way thru my set in S. Korea demanding hip hop..."
He later tweeted, "So when I told @justinbieber to f**k off and put some clothes on he took a cheap shot at my tour manager and fled behind a wall of security."
However, party host Ben Baller tells TMZ that it is an exaggeration and no punches were thrown. Later in the night, the Biebs did get a chance to man the turntables himself.

Michael Woods (Paul Walker) has arrived in South Africa with something to prove. He’s just recently been released from prison back in the U.S., and even though it constituted breaking his parole he chose to cross the ocean to try and patch things up with his girlfriend. She works at the embassy in Johannesburg, so after landing at the airport he rents a car only to discover the rental agency has screwed up and given him a minivan instead of the model he requested. Short on time he decides to just roll with it so as not to be late for his mea culpa. Rushing through traffic, sometimes on the wrong side of the road, Woods discovers a few things in the car that just don’t seem right. There’s a cell phone in the glove compartment. There’s a gun beneath the seat. And there’s a woman, bound...

The essence of a great car chase is editing, that combination of shots -- points of view, inside and outside the car -- that make the viewer share the sense of speed, danger and G-forces that the drivers must feel.
"Vehicle 19" is a thriller set almost entirely inside a car that is intermittently chased, shot at, wrecked and repainted, all in real time and all in South Africa. It stars Paul ("Fast & Furious") Walker, who knows a thing about driving and looking anxious behind the wheel. So writer-director Mukunda Michael Dewil keeps his camera on his most valuable asset, his star -- Walker. The chases, wrecks and re-paint aren't shown in subjective shots that would have made this thriller thrilling.
Maybe that's because of the rental car Michael Woods (Walker) is driving. He stands out down there because he is, as one streetwise fellow points out, "an Ameri-can in a mini-van.

Vehicle 19 is best when it's silent. Mukunda Michael Dewil's film has the makings of a taut little thriller, but the writer-director has the twin disadvantages of needing to include dialogue and to rely on the services of Paul Walker to embody his protagonist. The film follows American Michael Woods (Walker) as he arrives in Johannesburg, South Africa, to reunite with his ex-wife after being released from prison and jumping parole. But when he's accidentally given the keys to the wrong rental car, he finds himself amid a scandal which involves a sex-trafficking ring and implicates the chief of police, who suddenly wants him dead. As Michael drives through the urban streets, dodging police vehicles, the film largely confines its setting to his car, allowing the sinister world out...
