The actor joins the Sky1 and NBC series in a recurring role as Farrell, the Us president who struggles with the news that the end of the world is coming, reports Deadline.
Owen has had appearances in Midsomer Murders and The Originals in recent years, and played Paul Bowman on Monarch of the Glen.
Apocalypse Slough follows a group of seemingly unconnected characters, as their lives start to intersect when it is reported that a large comet will collide with Earth.
The cast includes Rob Lowe, Jenna Fischer, Megan Mullally, Pauline Quirke, Mathew Baynton, Paterson Joseph and Joel Fry.
Lowe is playing a rebellious priest at the Vatican, whose faith is shaken by the impending apocalypse.
The show is produced by Working Title and Bigballs Films.
